» Another Day

I woke up the next day just as tired as I had been the night before. Sleep never seemed to have the desired effect on me. I rolled over, trying to fall asleep again, but the light from my window kept me awake. I let out a defeated sigh, as I decided that it was no use to keep trying, when my body refused to give in to the blessed darkness. My body was heavy, as I got out of my bed and made my way to the kitchen. I rummaged through the cupboards, trying to find something edible. My eyes finally landed on a box of oats. I decided that oatmeal would be an alright breakfast.

I sat down at my table. While I was eating, I made a mental plan of the things I had to do today. I had to hurry up if I wanted anything out of the day, since it was already about 12pm. Sleeping in was nice, but it stressed me out knowing how much of the day I had missed. I was thinking of doing a stream on my Minecraft server today. My viewers had shown interest in seeing what I had built on there, so I had decided on giving them a tour of the whole thing.

I finished up and hurriedly made my way out of my apartment as soon as I was done with everything. I wanted to get the stream up and running as fast as possible. I opened the door to the office hallway, only to see a certain tall Brit locking up his office door. I didn't understand how he could still be here. Had he been streaming the whole night? I felt like I went home pretty late, but if he still was here at this time, god knows how long he had been going for.

"Hello?"

Wilbur's voice pulled me out of my thoughts and I realized that I, once again, had been caught staring. I quickly directed my gaze away from him, trying to make this the least awkward for the both of us, but failing miserably.

"Sorry," I said quickly. "I didn't..." My voice died out, when I realized I had no explanation for why I was staring at him. He laughed quietly reassuring me that it was completely fine. "So..." he said, "are you going up to stream?" He tried moving on the conversation which I was eternally grateful for.

"Yes, I am actually! Uhm..." Small talks wasn't my strongest suit and I quickly found myself out of topics to talk with him about. There wasn't much to talk about to begin with since we barely knew each other, which wasn't helping the situation very much. I wanted to avoid commenting on his lack of sleeping, since it really wasn't any of my business, but I was out of topics and decided to go for it anyways.

"Have you been here the whole night? I mean, you were still here when I went home and that was pretty late..."

"Yeah I couldn't sleep, so I decided to put the extra time to good use."

"You need sleep to function though?"

"I just didn't feel tired that's all. Sorry, but I can't see how my sleeping schedule is any of your business?"

He didn't sound annoyed with me, more tired, as if he had heard the same thing over and over again. I knew asking him about his sleep was a bad idea. And he was right, it really wasn't any of my business. I mentally slapped myself for being so stupid. I decided that it was best to change the subject, so the atmosphere wouldn't continue on getting worse.

"Sorry, I'm just trying to make smalltalk," I said and then continued "which I'm apparently horrible at." I had never been good with smalltalk, but I honestly didn't want to leave Wilbur just yet. There was something really nice about his presence and I liked being around him. He was also extremely nice to me, even though we were basically strangers.

"Don't worry about it," he smiled and shook his head "as long as there's a conversation going, I believe it counts."

I laughed. "I mean, yeah, I guess? Anyways I do have to get going actually. I planned the stream to start in not very long and I don't want to make my followers wait. Again," I added, remembering the night before.

"Yes, of course. Well, have a nice stream then," he smiled.

I thanked him and made my way past him to my office door. I locked myself in and closed the door behind me. I walked directly to my computer and turned it on, the bright screen making me squint slightly. I was honestly really excited for today's stream. I put my bag down next to my table and basically threw myself down into my chair. I reached for my bag and pulled out two pink Monster energy drinks. I checked to see if everything was ready, before sending out a tweet telling people that I was going live.

Also, I may be playing some songs if anyone wants to request :D

As soon as I pressed go live, I saw the number of viewers begin to pile up. The usual feeling of happiness coursed through my body, as I saw the chat begin to wake up. I opened one of my cans of Monster with a loud click and placed it back on my table. I silently waited for the notification to go out while I was reading through chat. When the number of viewers had gone up quite a bit, I finally began speaking.

"Hello everyone! And welcome to the stream! I hope you all have had an amazing day, and if not, then that this stream can make it better! Remember to hydrate and get something to eat, you deserve it. Today I'm going to give you all a tour of my Minecraft server! Yes, very creative I know, but after popular demand I decided that it would be good enough for y'all. Even though I did mention it in the tweet I sent out, I'll just say it again for anyone who doesn't have Twitter, I will be taking music requests at the end of the stream, so make sure to stick around! Anyways, let's get started!"

I logged on to the server and was immediately met with a creeper blowing a big hole right in front of my house. "Don't we just love my luck..." I mumbled, while the chat spammed "F". I filled the newly made hole up with dirt and moved a bit away from my house so chat could see it. "So, a good place to start would probably be my home. It isn't very special and I definitely used a YouTube tutorial just to be able to make this, but we don't talk about that..."

I had tried my best to give my server an overall cozy vibe. Everything was filled with loads of vines and bushes, making it look old and worn down by nature. My house was surrounded by trees and flowers. I had tried to recreate the look of a pretty forest to the best of my abilities. My house itself wasn't anything special. It was small and made out of spruce planks. My building skills definitely weren't the best, but with the help of the tutorial I thought it had turned out alright.

I moved on my tour to a nearby bridge that led to a small village I had built myself. I was quite proud of it. It had a bakery and a flower shop and a fountain in the middle. Next to the fountain was a pink sheep leashed to a fence. I walked over to it. "This is Jared." I introduced him. "I found him here while building this village and I'm pretty sure it was a sign, since it's pretty rare that a pink sheep spawn naturally. He's the mayor of the village." I also showed them some of the cats that lived in the village. I loved collecting animals in the game. They kept me company while I was building in the world.

I finished off the tour by showing off a giant wheat farm I had built. I had made it automated, which I was pretty proud of. I closed the game and switched to webcam mode once again. "So..." I started, "if I remember correctly, I may have promised you all a song or two..." The chat instantly erupted in a bunch of yes's and woooo's. I laughed. It was partly a nervous laugh, partly a happy one. It made me happy that chat was showing interest in my music, but I was also slightly nervous about what they would think. I had never sung for them before, even though I had teased it on multiple occasions.

"Do any of you have any song requests or do I just choose a song myself?" I asked, trying to catch any of the songs people were spamming in chat. "Was that a Modern Baseball song I saw there? I can play a Modern Baseball song," I said, and slowly began strumming the beginning to the song Your Graduation. "Does anyone have a specific song from them you want to hear or do I just play my favorite?" I saw a bunch of songs fly by, but I didn't manage to catch any of them. I finally saw someone saying "Re-Do" in all caps and my face instantly lit up.

"Did I just see someone say Re-Do? Oh I can definitely do that one, that's one of my favorites!" I got out of my chair to go get my guitar. I quickly sat down again and began tuning the guitar. I pulled up the lyrics and the chords on my screen and made sure everything was ready, before doing a quick test to see if the tuning sounded right. "Are you ready?" I asked chat, still slightly nervous, but the amazing song choice definitely made it easier for me.

I began strumming on my guitar and when I felt ready, I began singing. My voice was quiet and unsure at first, but as the song carried on, my confidence grew, and soon I had completely forgotten that I was currently performing a mini concert in front of over three thousand people.

I wanna start from the top
Maybe like a do-over
Replace the voices in my head
With blind innocence

I want a complete redo
Maybe change my name
Report the losses, grab the claim
"It's a shame, it's such a shame"
We're pissing away our time
Cause we're pissing away these beers
No monumental moment ever came from saying
"Come on, dude, just take one more shot"

Try to, try to forget
That your bones will dismantle
And the dreams you had
They'll collide with time
Your unrequited love for life will surely—
Halt that, I'm thinking way too much at night

I stopped in the middle of the song, as I suddenly remembered the number of people there was currently hearing me sing. My self doubt took over and I didn't feel like completing the song. "Sorry, but that's all you're getting," I laughed nervously, and laid my guitar on the floor next to me. "I think it's about time to end the stream anyways. I'm getting a little tired and I'm not very fun to listen to when I'm tired, trust me."

I ended the stream and stared at the blank screen for a bit. It wasn't very late, but I didn't really have anything to do, so I decided to just go home. I needed a nap after the stream. I didn't know what had made me so tired. Maybe it was the worrying about the whole singing thing. I did enjoy singing, but I never felt as if I was good enough to actually let anyone hear it. Now they had, and I was extremely nervous about what they would say about it. I told myself that I was overreacting and finally managed to tear my eyes from the dark screen in front of me. I packed up my things and went home.

A new chapter woooo! Sorry it took so long, but I find it kind of hard to find the motivation to write at the moment. I hope everyone's doing alright! Also, if you don't know Modern Baseball, you should definitely check them out! I found them through Wilbur's stream and I love their music so much!
