CHAPTER THIRTY-FIVE:
ARGUMENTS AND WEDDING PREPARATIONS
IT HAD BEEN A few days since Echo made her announcement. Carlisle and Echo had several deep conversations about it. For the first two conversations, they had argued about it. The two had never argued about something, but this they did. By the third conversation, he had listened to her talk. But he didn't speak. By the fourth conversation, he gave his input again. By the fifth one, it seemed he was coming to realize that Echo wasn't going to change her mind. Now, they were in their sixth conversation about the topic, and it was as if they had started back at the beginning.
"I don't understand why you're so upset with this." Echo scoffed as she shook her head. "Literally everyone else wants me to do this. Hell! Even Sam does!"
"You don't understand what you're getting yourself into, Echo." Carlisle defended.
"Jesus Christ, Carlisle! Just tell me you don't want me to turn. Look me in the damn eye and say it. And if you truly don't want me to, then I won't."
Carlisle couldn't. He wanted Echo to turn, he truly did. But he didn't want her to do it and then regret it later. He knew he was only making her more upset and it was physically hurting both him and her. Echo looked at him, patiently waiting. He didn't say anything and Echo sighed. She ran a frustrated hand through her hair.
"I'm not going to change until after Bella's wedding anyways. That gives you a week. Come and find me when you're ready to talk about this." Echo stated. She grabbed her jacket as well as her car keys before leaving the home. She sped back home and entered Bella's room, quickly placing herself on Bella's bed. Bella quickly laid down beside of Echo and waited for her to speak.
"Bella, I need to tell you something. And I need your honesty on the situation."
"I'm all ears." Bella told her.
"I want to be changed."
Bella's eyes widened with slight excitement. "Really? I was worried you were going to force me watch you grow old and die and I really wasn't about it."
Echo let out a soft chuckle. "So you're not mad?"
"Of course not! I'm happy about your choice and I fully support you." Bella looked at her sisters facial expression and she furrowed her eyebrows. "There's something else. What is it?"
Echo sighed as she closed her eyes. "Carlisle. He just. . . I don't even know. It's like he wants me to go through with it, but at the same time he doesn't. And I don't know what to do."
"Do what I did. Ignore him. Edward didn't want me to change, still doesn't, but I'm going to anyways. Don't let anyone stop you from getting what you want, E. You taught me that."
"I guess I was a good teacher, huh?" Echo smiled.
"The best teacher." Bella smiled back.

"You just have to break them in." Alice told the girl. It has been a week since Echo and Carlisle had last talked and now she was at the Cullen household, watching as Bella was trying on her wedding shoes and was failing miserably at standing upright in them. Echo placed a hand on her sisters shoulder.
"Sis, if I can kick a Russians ass in heels, you can surely walk down an aisle." Echo assured.
"Well I'm sorry I'm not a secret assassin that's also an army doctor." Bella snapped. Echo chuckled with amusement.
"You'll get there one day."
"I hate you." Bella glared. Echo smiled.
"I know. So does everyone else."
"Can I just go bare foot?" Bella asked.
"No! Absolutely not!" Alice scolded.
"I'm just thinking it's a little much, you know? The dress and the shoes and all of this." Bella told her. Echo rolled her eyes.
"No, it's exactly enough. Tomorrow will be perfect." Alice told the girl.
"Where do you want 'em boss?" Emmett asked, carrying a giant tree trunk.
"On either side of the isle." Alice informed.
"What isle?" Rosalie asked.
"Does no one have vision?!" Alice yelled as she made her way down the steps and toward the scenery. Echo chuckled softly as Bella took off the shoes. Echo leaned against the railing of the porch as she watched them set up. Bella nudged Echo's side causing her to turn her head to look at her sister.
"I think someone wants to talk to you." Bella mumbled. Echo cocked an eyebrow before looking around and then catching eyes with Carlisle. Echo looked back over to Bella who sent her a reassuring smile.
"I'll come home and we can have a movie night?"
"I'll be waiting." Bella smiled. Echo looked back over at Carlisle before placing a hand on Bella's shoulder and then turning to walk into the Cullen house hold. She walked up the stairs and waited patiently in Carlisle's room. Her arms were crossed over her chest as she looked out the glass window that was one wall. The door opened behind her, but she didn't turn around. She didn't like fighting with Carlisle. But she didn't like backing down from winning an argument either. She was stubborn like that.
"If you're absolutely sure. . ." He started causing Echo to close her eyes. "Then alright."
Echo was surprised, but she couldn't find it in herself to turn and look at him. And she didn't know what to say. She felt bad for placing this on him. The guilt was eating her away. She hated this feeling. The feeling of something breaking inside of her all because of an argument. Carlisle walked to be in front of Echo. Her hair was hanging over her face as she looked to the ground.
The vampire looked down at his mate before placing a hand under her chin and gently lifting her head so that she would look at her. He tucked her hair behind of her ear as he looked at her. It was that moment that Echo realized how in love she was with the man that was standing in front of her. He cupped her face in his hands.
"I love you, Echo. And if this is what you want, then it's what's you'll get. I'm sorry I caused us to argue. All I know is that I don't want to fight ever again." He softly spoke to her. Echo leaned into his touch, her hands placing them selves around his wrist.
"God, I can't believe my little sister is getting married before me." Echo mumbled with a small laugh.
"Well, you're going to turn before her so I guess it's even." Carlisle shrugged. Echo looked at Carlisle with amusement.
"You really are all right with it, aren't you?" Echo asked. Her hands moved from his wrists, allowing her to wrap her arms around his neck. He wrapped his arms around her waist. He smiled as he nodded his head.
"I am. I took these past few days to really think over it. And I decided that as long as you were happy, then it didn't matter what I thought."
"Of course it matters what you think. It matters what we both think. This is a two way relationship." Echo smiled up at him.
"Are we alright?" Carlisle asked. Echo let out a soft laugh.
"Yeah, we're alright." Echo nodded. She sent him a smile before he leaned down and gave her a passionate kiss, one he had been waiting to give her for the past week. Echo was showing just as much passion. Having to pull away to breathe, Echo held an amused smile on her face.
"The one thing I'm excited about when I change is that I won't have to breathe so that those can last longer." Carlisle let out a chuckle as he shook his head at the girl.
"I have to go have a movie night with Bella, this is her excuse as a bachelorette party. And I'm going to be late." Echo told him. "I'll see you tomorrow."
"Oh right, you have to wear a dress again." Carlisle stated. Echo glared at him.
"Don't remind me." She grumbled.
"I'm sure you'll look as beautiful as always." Carlisle smiled.
"Dude, I said I had to leave. You saying shit like that makes me not want to." Echo chastised. He placed his hands up in surrender.
"My apologies." Echo rolled her eyes before giving him one last kiss.
"I'll see you tomorrow." Echo smiled before walking out of the home and heading over to her own.
