CHAPTER ELEVEN:
FIGHT

ECHO AND BELLA WERE spending the week together. They had already seen a movie and now they were taking a long and much needed walk around the town. They talked about anything and everything they could think of, and Echo immediately groaned when Bella―︎once again―︎brought up the Cullen's.

"Bella, no matter what you say I'm going to keep my distance from that family. There is something off about them and I can't quite figure out what it is, but it's on the very tip of my tongue." Echo explained and Bella immediately grew nervous, but she tried to hide it. But of course, Echo noticed. Echo always noticed everything. From the slightest twitch of a finger to an emotion flashing through your features, Echo always noticed. And that was Bella's mistake.

Echo narrowed her eyes at the girl. "What is it, Bella. What aren't you telling me about them, Isa?"

"Nothing." Bella answered a little too quickly. Echo cocked an eyebrow before smirking to herself and shrugging her shoulders.

"Fine, I don't need you to tell me. I'll figure it out on my own." That made Bella terrified because she knew Echo was correct. Changing the subject Echo said, "I was planning on going down to the reservation later, did you want to join?"

Bella shook her head. "No, I have to study for my finals that are coming up next month."

"Next month? Holy shit, you're graduating High School this year. I completely forgot!" Echo laughed before nudging her sisters arm. "I'm proud of you, sis."

"I haven't taking my finals yet, so don't celebrate yet." Bella joked causing Echo to chuckle. They made their way back to the house and Echo followed Bella into the house.

"Hey, if you need me, don't hesitate to call me." Bella nodded her head and Echo sent her a small smile before grabbing her keys to her motorcycle and going back outside. She quickly got onto her motorcycle and sped off to the reservation. A smile filled her features at the familiar tree line. She parked her bike and made her way over to Sam who was watching as Paul and Embry wrestled each other.

"If you own a soccer ball, we should play soccer." Echo called, grabbing the older males attention. He sent the girl a smile as she walked closer. When Echo stood beside of him, Sam gave her a side hug and she quickly hugged him back. Echo watched in amusement at the two before saying, "I could kick both of their asses and it's amusing."

"Is that a challenge, Swan?" Paul asked and Echo shrugged her shoulders as she smiled in amusement.

"If you want it to be!" She yelled in response.

"I feel like it wouldn't be fair, though." Paul responded and Echo cocked an eyebrow as she crossed her arms over her chest.

"Why, because I'm girl?" Echo asked with a smirk. "Paul, I'm practically an assassin. So, if you hurt me, there are no hard feelings."

"You sure?" Paul asked. Though he wasn't really asking Echo, he was looking at Sam as he asked the question. Sam smiled before nodding his head. Paul shrugged his shoulders. "Alright."

"Let me stretch first?" She asked. He rolled his eyes playfully before nodding his head. Echo stretched her arms, then her legs, and then her back before nodding her head at him. "No hard feelings when I kick your ass, right?"

"Oh, yeah, sure. But I'll have you know, that I'm a lot tougher than I look." Paul smirked and Echo smirked back at him. "Wanna get a crowd?"

"Hell yeah." Echo smiled before looking over at Sam who was already on it. The two waited, joking around with each other. Echo found herself enjoying his company and that made her smile. Once Sam had gathered everyone he walked up to the two.

"I want a clean fight, by that I mean try your hardest not to shed blood and break bones. I'm looking at you Swan." Sam pointed a finger at her and the girl rolled her eyes.

"Yeah, yeah, whatever." Sam walked back over to the group and the two contestants held out there hands, shaking them in a polite jester just for amusement.

"Ready? Fight!"

Paul immediately lunged at the girl and she swiftly dodged his hit before grabbing his arm and spinning around, pinning it behind of his back. She quickly kicked the back of his knees before he could blink causing him to fall onto the ground. "Come on, Paul. You can do better." He grabbed hold of the girl, flinging her off of him, but she simply rolled before leaping back up. "Much better." The two ran at one another again and Paul threw a punch and she dodged it, he threw another and she dodged it as well.

Echo quickly kicked his feet out from under him, grabbing his arms on the way down and pinning them behind of his back. Echo quickly placed her knee on his back, keeping the boy down allowing her to smirk in victory. She leaned down and whispered in his ear, "Never underestimate a Swan."

Echo got up off of him and couldn't help but smirk at the cheers that came from the group of boys watching. She held out a hand and Paul took it, allowing her to pull him up off of the ground. Paul smirked at her before swinging an arm around her shoulders. "Well then, never been beat by a girl before."

"Don't think too much of it." Echo shrugged with a smile. Paul opened his mouth to say something but Sam immediately removed Paul's arm from the girl causing her to let out a contagious laugh.

"Hands off."

"Protective much?" Echo cocked an eyebrow and he shrugged in response. Echo sent the group of boys a small smile and watched as they started to mess with Paul. Echo followed Sam inside of his house and was surprised when a woman was standing there fixing food.

"Em, would you come here for a second?" Sam asked. The woman turned around and looked at Sam, walking over to him. Echo looked at the woman, barely noticing the scar that covered the side of her face. She was beautiful and immediately Echo put two and two together causing her to smile. "Echo, I would like you to meet my fiancé, Emily. Emily, this is my longtime friend Echo Swan."

"It's nice to meet you, Sam has told me a lot about you." Emily smiled. The two woman exchanged a hug and Echo immediately sniffed the air.

"Is that muffins I smell?" Echo asked with excitement. Emily nodded with a smile. Echo looked over at Sam, nudging his side. "You picked a good one. I'll be coming over everyday for a muffin before I have to go to work."

"You just got here, how could you already have a job?" Paul asked as he entered the house, sitting down at the table. Echo jumped up onto the counter as she shrugged her shoulders.

"Well, I'm a doctor-"

"You're a doctor and an assassin? Jesus." Paul mumbled causing Echo to smirk.

"-and I got a job at the local hospital. Apparently saying you were an army doctor isn't good enough to get you a job. So I had to have an interview-"

"Who interviewed you?" Paul asked eagerly.

"Dr. Carlisle Cullen." Seeing as she was looking down, she didn't notice how both boys immediately tensed up at the name. "I don't know. There's something off about him, and I'm so close to figuring out what it is. Bella won't tell me jackshit, so I'm stuck on my own. But, I've always been good at solving puzzles."

Paul and Sam shared a look and Echo cocked an eyebrow at the exchange. "What?"

"You should get a different job, E." Sam suggested and Echo furrowed her eyebrows.

"Hey, just because Cullen and his entire family have this weird vibe doesn't mean I'm going to get a different job. Besides, maybe being around him will help me figure out what's wrong with his family." Echo shrugged her shoulders before smiling widely when Emily pulled out the muffins. "I'll take three, thank you." Echo grabbed three muffins before immediately eating one of them. Once she finished, she jumped off of the counter and let out a sigh.

"Well, I better get home. I'll be by tomorrow to get my morning muffin." Echo sent Emily a smile before giving Sam a hug. When she walked by, she messed up Paul's hair causing him to slap her hand away. Echo let out a laugh before bidding them goodbye and making her way to her bike to leave the reservation.

Authors note: I think I might drag this part out until Echo finds out what they are??? Which, if I do that, it won't be too much longer, but opinions?
