๐๐ก๐๐ฉ๐ญ๐๐ซ ๐ญ๐ก๐ซ๐๐ // RAINY DAY SONG
CHAPTER THREE // RAINY DAY SONG
OCTOBER ๐
IT WAS A GLOOMY FALL DAY, the perfect sort of day in Emerson's opinion. The blonde loved rainy days in North River. They were perfect for relaxing and cuddling up on the couch with a warm blanket while watching a movie or two with some snacks.
Which was exactly what Emerson found herself doing. A handmade blanket was thrown across her legs while a variety of snacks were laid out on the coffee table in front of her, and one of her favorite movies played on the tv.
The June woman had the house all to herself while Noah spent the weekend with her best friends, getting ready for the big Halloween dance that the senior class were proudly planning.
It was nice to have the house all to herself, the quietness of it all โ not that Noah was a particularly loud person. It also made her sad, because she knew soon Noah would be leaving for college and the quietness that she craved so much would mean something different.
A knock on the door pulled Emerson from her thoughts, raising an eyebrow she paused the movie and threw back the blanket from her body before getting up from the comforts of her couch.
She hadn't been expecting anyone, though it wasn't uncommon for neighbors for just stop over in North River. Emerson really hoped that wasn't the case right now. Having to fake a pleasant conversation with nosey people wasn't what she want to do with her day.
A look of shock formed on her face as she noticed Jax Teller through the window, standing on her porch with a frown on his face. The blonde quickly opened the door noticing the rain was now coming down harder outside.
"Jax, hi." Emerson greeted the Teller man. "Come in, come in it's terrible out there." She quickly added, stepping aside to let his soaked body inside.
"Thanks." Jax gave her a small smile or at least what resembled a smile as he stepped inside the house. "I didn't realize this was your house. I'm sorry I'm dripping water everywhere." The Teller man apologized as water dripped onto her floors.
"Oh," Emerson waved her hand as she watched a small puddle form at Jax's feet. "It's no big deal. It's just water. Are you okay?"
The frown on his face wasn't so concerning for Emerson. Jax Teller always seemed to have a frown on his face, but the fact that he showed up out of the blue and his truck didn't seem to be anywhere in sight was. Jax was a man that kept to himself, showing up randomly wasn't like him at all. Something had to be wrong.
Jax rubbed the back of his neck, "my bike broke down a few miles down the road. It was nice out earlier this morning so I wanted to take it out for one last ride."
Emerson waited for the man in front of her to say more. She could hear the sadness in his tone and the nostalgia as he talked about his bike.
"Your house was first one I came across. I guess my phone died too. Sounds like a cliche movie." He said with a small laugh while running a hand over his wet hair.
A smile formed on Emerson's face as she listened to Jax's story. It really did sound like something out of one of those cliche romance movies. She hadn't known Jax for long but it seemed like he didn't have the best of luck.
"Wait right here." Emerson simple said before hurrying off without another word.
Jax watched the blonde hurry out of the room, his forehead furrowed as he stood in the June woman's home by himself. His blue eyes took in his surroundings as the puddle around his feet grew larger. Emerson's home was cozy and warmโ it definitely fit her. Jax hadn't known her very long but he could tell she was a good person. There was just something about her that made Jax want to be near her.
"I found some clothes for you." Emerson announced as she walked back into the kitchen with a smile on her face and some dry clothes in her hands. "I think they should fit." She added while looking back and forth from Jax and the clothes in her hands.
"Thank you." Jax smiled as he took the clothes from her hands. "I really appreciate it, Emerson."
"It's no problem." She assured. "I'll call the mechanic while you change. Frank is really great at what he does and he actually knows about motorcycles too." She added with a reassuring smile. She knew how protective men could be over their cars and motorcycles and she didn't want Jax to worry. His bike would be in good hands.
"Oh uh, I don't need a mechanic. I can fix the bike myself I just a tow to bring the bike back to my place."
"Right." Emerson nodded, a blush forming on her cheeks. "The bathroom is down the hallway, first door on your left." She quickly added as she pointed down the hallway while pulling her phone from her pocket.
Jax nodded before walking off down the hallway ready to be out of his wet clothes.
Emerson watched as Jax walked off before slapping a hand to her forehead. How stupid could she be? Of course a man like him knew how to fix his own bike. She probably just offended him.
"Great job, Emmy." The blonde muttered to herself before walking back into the living room and getting comfortable again.
JAX STOOD IN THE BATHROOM DRESSED now in dry warm clothes. He wasn't sure whose clothes they were that he was wearing and he really didn't want to know.
He tossed his wet clothes on the drying rack in the corner of the room and took a look at himself in the mirror before exiting the bathroom. A smile was on his face as he walked into the kitchen, but it quickly turned into confusion once he didn't see Emerson standing there.
The sound of a movie playing close by met Jax's ears causing the blonde man took a few quick strides towards the noise. A smirk broke out on his face as he saw Emerson cuddled up on her couch with snacks laid out on her coffee table and a classic horror movie playing on her large tv. She looked so peaceful that it almost made him want to leave her alone.
"Frank should be here in a few minutes." Emerson's voice startled him a bit as she turned away from the movie and looked at him with a smile.
"How'd you know I was here?" Jax questioned impressed by the blonde woman.
A small laughed left her lips. "I have a teenager, Jax."
Jax wasn't sure what it meant but he hoped he would one day when Abel and Thomas were teenagers. He hoped he got the chance to see them be teenagers and do all the stupid shit that every teen did.
"Do you wannaโ
A knock on the door interrupted Emerson before she could finish her sentence and a small sigh left Jax's lips. He wanted her to finish her question. He wanted to know what she was going to ask him.
"That must be Frank." A small sigh fell from her lips as she got up from the couch and headed towards the door with Jax following behind her.
"That doesn't look like any Frank I've ever known." Jax muttered as his blue eyes noticed a petite blonde standing on Emerson's porch.
"Celia." Emerson was shocked as she pulled open the door to see her younger sister standing on the other side with a wide smile on her face. "What are you doing here?" She pulled the shorter blonde into a tight hug.
"Surprise."
