prologue | severus and dumbledore have a conversation within the afterlife that determines the fate of the late potions professor. ( i might scrap this and just jump straight into the first act )

act one | severus awakens aboard the hogwarts express, interfering in the moment that eloise malfoy and harry potter would have met. the students that severus interacts with are each sorted into a house entirely different than the first time around which creates a separate chain of events throughout the search and protection of the philosopher's stone.

act two โ€” act seven | without giving too much away, these acts follow the books while diverging from the canon to create a new series of events which takes harry potterโ€”and the other children at Hogwarts for that matterโ€”away from the limelight and allows his to grow as a child rather than being raised as a lamb to be sacrificed.

1. basically this is a what if my slytherbabies actually got to be happy without the pressures of pure-blood society. it's sort of a fix-it-fic / a what if they ended up in ravenclaw rather than slytherin. which means elements of these characters personalities might change a little bit. like eloise will actually get a chance at playing seeker, corvus no longer feels the need to be the top student. although adora still receives prophetic visions, she actually gets the training she needs in ravenclaw as sybil takes the girl under her wing, and while leti is staying in ravenclaw she's actually getting friends now and doesn't have to remain a recluse.

2. i'm playing around with which houses other characters might end up in as well. i'm open to suggestions but here's my thoughts so far. salacia and neville will be living their best lives in hufflepuff. ron may be sorted into slytherin and harry may be sorted into hufflepuff. hermione might be ravenclaw and nicodemus might be hufflepuff, everyone else will probably remain the same unless i can think of a good reason to change them.

3. my little next generation of marauders will definitely experiment with animagus forms and will likely terrorize the past version of snape just as their parents did before eventually warming up to the professor.

4. the central love story will follow diane potter and severus snape. the story will also primarily be told from the perspective of evan prince rather than one of my ocs. the point of this book is to tell a new story rather than just rewriting the old ones which is why I won't focus on those couples as often. they'll have their adorable little moments but they're basically the side characters in this tale.

5. as this is an au, the ending i write will not necessarily be canon to the rest of my series as i do have a cursed child rewrite planned that follows the course of their original houses. and i'll just say that albus potter and scorpius malfoy-granger are going to be adorable.

This plot has been living in my head rent free for a while now and I needed a place to jot down all my thoughts because I won't actually start writing this one until I finish Snake Eyesโ€”since it's hard for an alternate universe to exist if the original universe hasn't been written yet.
