BREWING TROUBLE

BELLE AND QUILL'S ACHING hearts stopped hurting as they checked the girl's quarters one more time. While James and Gambit's journey back, the charm started to fade. Causing a frenzy among the two friends when they noticed Gambit was missing, hence, they checked everywhere. The bathroom, kitchens, each and every sleeping quarters. They sighed in relief seeing the girl reading a book on her bed, feet swinging back and forth.

"There you are.. Gave us a bit of a heart attack," Belle stroked her hair as she sat down, "Where were you?"

"Oh--the library.. Just found this interesting book--"

"Advanced Potion making? Don't tell me you believe that bullshit."
Quill looked at her like she was crazy,

This pained Gambit, knowing her friends would never believe she was a witch,
But she remained calm,
"No, I'm just having fun reading it."

Quill watched Gambit pace around the room, tidying up her looks in the mirror, brushing her hair and wearing nice clothes. Where is she going, he thought. He knew that Gambit wouldn't care about his warnings and such, so he refrained from questioning her--although, Gambit could feel his eyes following her every move,

"I'm going to the Cafe," she looked at him warily, "I'll be with my friends..?"

"I didn't say anything.."

"I know you wanted to ask--nevermind, I'll have to go now," she waved him goodbye, "See you Quill!"

Gambit sighed, straightening her dress as she pushed her hair behind her shoulder. Walking out the door to ask Aunt Marge for permission,

"Who'll be with you?"

"Just some friends--"

"Boys? Girls?"
Aunt Marge bellowed as she narrows her eyes,

"A few boys and a girl.."

Four boys and two girls, including her. But she knew Aunt Marge wouldn't let her go alone if she knew there were more boys than girls,

"Alright, get lost--you have money right?"

"Yes I do! I'll be back before dark Auntie!"

Gambit had ran out the door--failing to see the small smile planted on Aunt Margie's face--the girl greeted her friends who waited for her, unknown to the fact Quill and Belle watched from a window,

Lily and Gambit walked together, arms linked together as the boys followed them around town.

"It'd be nice if you could go to Hogwarts," Lily sighed, looking at Gambit sadly, "Guess we'll only see each other during summer.."

"How long is your summer?"

"Two months. July 'til August, school starts on September first,"
Remus explained, a lollipop in his mouth,

"September first? That's my birthday, shame we can't spend it together.."
Gambit chuckled sadly, wanting to have spend her birthday with her new wizard friends.

"Don't worry, Evans! She'll go to Hogwarts alright. Just not right now," James slung his arm around the red head, causing her to scoff, "She'll be like any other student--I'm sure Professor Dumbledore won't mind."

"Right--get off me now, please."

"Sorry.."

Sun shined down on them as the six teenagers sat down in a coffee shop, eating and drinking together.

"Muggle places are quite... Calming, rather than the usual wizard-y stuff..."
Sirius wiped his mouth, after drinking bland coffee--his words--he had missed the warm Hogsmeade hot cocoa and Honeydukes.

Peter agreed, wishing the coffee had more to it. But Lily and Gambit stayed indifferent, already used to the lifestyle for Muggles and non-magic people.

If Gambit had received her letter, would she be friends with her friends now?, she thought about this, and said maybe. She has been informed by James about the strong rivalry between Gryffindor and Slytherin--it was most likely Gambit would be a Slytherin--and her friends now are all Gryffindor, so their housemates would all probably be confused why they're friends with their rivals. But the Marauders and Lily are very welcoming and kind, friendly and wild. She'd have no doubt they'd dislike her just solely because she's a Slytherin.

"How long until you guys go back to Hogwarts?"
Gambit asked, fiddling with the hanging key chains of the vendor,

"Eh... Less than three weeks I think? Why?"
Peter answered,

"Oh.. Well, I guess we won't see ach other for some time--"

"We can write you letters, don't be so glum love," Sirius pat her cheeks softly, "Besides, I'm sure Remus would love to give you all his books from previous years--and by our seventh year, you'd have known five years--"

"Six, actually--"

"Six years worth of knowledge about magic in a short span of time!"

"I can't learn six years worth of books in one year! Besides, what makes you so sure I'd be able to attend anyway?" the girl cried, "It's not nice to raise my hopes up, you know?"

"Right--Sirius? What'd you mean I'd give her all my books?"

"What? Well, I suppose you could let her borrow it--so she can study it herself..?" Sirius looked around while the others looked at him weirdly, "Merlin's--just give her the books Moony, help a lady out."

Remus sighed heavily and shook his head, but James came to Gambit's comfort, wrapping an arm around her.
"You see, once Dumbledore finds out you're a Gaunt, he'd definitely let you attend Hogwarts. It's not too late to be sorted in your house," he grinned, "Besides, we'd make your first and final year of Hogwarts one of the best for an ultimate mind boggling experience!"

"Thank you James, I appreciate the thought.."
Gambit printed a small smile as James detached from her, going back to flirt--if you can call it that--with Lily Evans.

Not even three days later, a pile of books arrived at Gambit's bed side table--

"What is all this..?" Belle panted after carrying heavy books up to Gambit, "It's all magic books and stuff.."

"They're from a friend, actually. They let me borrow some books about fantasy novels--"
Gambit stopped explaining, knowing Belle won't pry much more further.

Her eyes scanned the leather bound books, five years worth of knowledge to be learned at only a year. Can she do this, Gambit thought, but she remained determined. Her mind had already been set--it didn't matter if she didn't know everything--she only cared about the really important topics and such.

She had caught Remus' note,

Here's all my books from previous years. There's writings on most pages just in case you don't understand some words--I've written what most of them mean. Also included a spell book for you, good luck in studying! Hope to see you next school year,

Signed,
Remus

She smiled, tucking the note into her drawer, she started on the books that labeled first year.

Her eyes engraving each word to mind, not knowing Belle still stood and smiled as she watched Gambit have fun reading.
