"JORDYN! LEXIE!" shouted doctor o'malley at the two interns who were boringly sitting against a wall, scaring the living hell out of them in the process. lexie was reading a book while jordyn was overthinking her life choices. "sorry. uh, have you seen doctor stevens?"
"no. have you seen doctor yang?" lexie asked closing her book.
"no" george said already not listening to the two girls.
"she told us to meet her here in the pit-"
"and she's not here" lexie finished for jordyn, obviously way more nervous about the situation then jordyn was. "i don't want to give that woman any more reasons to hate me"
"good for you" george said probably dialing doctor stevens on his phone. what did he see in her? sure she was hot, but she was also a total dud.
"i'm prepared. i'm gonna answer every question correctly. and i'm not gonna take any more of her crap" lexie said all of a sudden now pointing as if she was telling doctor yang herself.
"good for you lex!" jordyn responded giving her a high-five.
"one and three! incoming let's move" doctor yang directed them towards ER 2.
"looks like your plan is going excellently" jordyn sarcastically smiled at her friend while following doctor yang into the emergency room. there lied a teenage boy in a football player uniform and a slightly over weight and rather tall man in an orange coach like uniform.
"he got hit during a scrimmage" said the coach figure towards doctor shepard, who was also in the room.
"are you the coach?" doctor shepard asked towards the man.
"he's my dad" answered the football player on the bed.
"and his coach. he was charging the receiver after the kickoff. he got blocked, had his head down, couldn't see the other guy coming" he informed doctor shepard while also in the same way reprimanding his son.
"i had my head down because the guy blocking me was holding it down" argued the son who was getting safety goggles placed on his head. he was around 20. jordyn couldn't deal with another case of parents not caring properly for their children emotionally or physically. it reminded her of two weeks ago with the baby and his meth selling parents.
"you could've gotten past that guy" the coach fought back at his son.
"i need you to leave the room" doctor shepard said at the father, as the man begun to walk out of the room. "okay let's cut him out of his equipment"
"i need the saw" doctor yang said as a nurse handed it to her.
"doctor grey, i need you to help me stabilize his neck and his head, please" doctor shepard said while putting on his own pair of safety goggles. "it's very important, adam, that you not move your head. i need you to keep perfectly still. don't move relax-"
"wait. can i hold her hand. sorry...i'm scared shitless and she's really hot" the patient named adam singer said while pointing at doctor long and slightly blushing.
"yes, doctor long can hold your hand" doctor sheperd said directing her over to the bed. their hands interlocked. his were warm and almost comforting but in a scared way. the last time jordyn held a boy's hand had been almost two years prior. it was refreshing.
"i'm adam" the boy said smiling.
"doctor long" jordyn said putting on her best comforting face.
"don't move. relax" said doctor shepherd as the saw got closer and closer to the boys head.
โโ
"i can't believe that kid's dad. i mean, his son is paralyzed, and the guy's still riding him" lexie said, as if taking the words from jordyn's head. she couldn't have said it better herself.
"focus on the medicine, three and less on the tragedy" doctor yang told lexie off as jordyn bite the inside of her mouth. she felt bad for lexie and probably would've stood up for her, but jordyn knew when to shut up. this was one of those times.
"three?" questioned doctor sheperd looking shocked to see her call one of us by a number. jordyn was just used to it by now. "is that a nickname?"
"you could say that" lexie said slightly awkwardly.
"she calls me one" jordyn added trying to break the ice.
"so how would you proceed, doctor grey and doctor long?" derek asked looking at the x-rays.
"oh, um...you won't be able to operate unless you realign his spine, would you?" lexie answered, barely before jordyn could think of a reply.
"mm-hmm. and how would you do that?" derek asked towards the two interns.
"traction halo?" jordyn suggested.
"very impressive, doctor grey and doctor long. your intern year's off to a great start" doctor shepherd smiled at the two interns, even if it was more or so towards lexie. the two girls nodded in thanks. "how's it going? how are you and meredith?" doctor sheperd asked lexie. jordyn could feel the annoyance radiating off of doctor yang. jordyn didn't mind feeling excluded from this conversation.
"it's weird, this whole family thing. and plus, i think she might still hate me" lexie answered rather honestly. christina's eye roll could be heard around the room.
"she doesn't hate you" derek simply stated as if it was obvious facts.
"really? did she say that-"
"you know, why don't you go see if mrs. cooley's dressings need changing?" doctor yang interrupted the gossipy conversation.
"yang, why don't you go see if mrs. cooley's dressing needs changing" derek repeated. it was hard to keep a straight face at their incredible bickering.
"certainly" cristina said rushing out of the room. superiority does rule in this hospital. sometimes in wonderful ways. lexie and jordyn turned to each other with playful smiles on their faces. that was the day jordyn became allies with derek shepherd.
โโ
"first we're going to apply a halo, which uses weights and traction to pull your spine back into place" doctor yang explained the surgery to adam and his father, stanley.
"traction?" questioned the boy on the bed.
"like at the gym. we stretch your upper body using weights until the tension pops the spine into position" lexie attempted to explain better to the boy.
"except unlike at the gym, doctor shepherd needs to attach the traction device directly to your head by screwing two bolts into your skull" doctor yang added.
"that sounds painful" admitted adam.
"you shouldn't feel a thing" jordyn comforted putting on a thin smile. the boy gave one right back.
"painful is if he doesn't fix your spine. painful is you never walk again. okay. we gonna do this thing or what?" asked the father leaving us all to simply roll our eyes at his rude and idiotic behavior. the boy simply looked at jordyn for support.
"doctor shepherd is going to do his best" jordyn once again held his hand as if in nature.
โโ
lexie pulled jordyn aside quickly before they re-entered adam's room with doctor shepherd and doctor yang. she looked nervous but also excited.
"i confronted cristina!" lexie whisper shouted toward her friend her smile seemingly showing all of her teeth.
"holy crap, you did it" jordyn said in congratulatory, putting a wide smile on her face as well.
"let's just say we won't be called by numbers for much longer" lexie said a slight giggle behind her words.
"good for you lex...alright let's get in there before we get screamed at even more...intern things" jordyn answered ushering the two in the surgery room. weights surrounded the entire area. the two walked over to the wall so that doctor yang wouldn't notice them too heavily. they observed the ridiculous banter between the son and father and overall just tried to focus on doctor shepherd. it was rather hard to focus over all the screaming though. lexie forgetting about doctor yang seemingly began to walk over to the bed.
"what did i say about you and the wall" christina said in a low voice so that the patient couldn't hear. lexie accordingly backed up. jordyn lightly squeezed lexie wrist in comfort.
"doctor yang, this is still a teaching hospital, isn't it?" questioned doctor shepherd.
"yes, sir" doctor yang responded as if it was obvious information. which it kind of was.
"you need to get a little closer if you want to learn something today. doctor grey and doctor long you can come right over here" doctor sheperd directed his head over so that jordyn would come over to stand beside him. "okay, adam, i'm going to attach the tonga now. i need you to stay perfectly still during this procedure. let the weights do all the work. okay, you're gonna feel a little pressure, but with the meds we've given you, you shouldn't feel any pain. alright" doctor shepherd explained as he began to screw in the bolt.
โโ
"try not to move your head, adam" cristina reminded him as she was finishing with the weights.
"i'm-i'm trying, but...i don't know how much longer i can take this" adam admitted, his voice cracking from pain.
"you'll take as much as they give you son. okay, now come on! you can do this" the father encouraged his son, sounding like a coach more then a dad. jordyn hated this man.
"it's just another few pounds" cristina attempted to ease, but cristina yang isn't a very easing person.
"hey! adam look at me. focus on me...compliment me to stay focused" jordyn attempted to help.
"this isn't the time for flirting doctor long" cristina practically spat, as if it was illegal for a fellow doctor to try and help.
"what? no! it should distract him from the pain you're giving him doctor yang" jordyn defended, putting a small but still noticeable insult in there for good measure.
"well, uh your eyes are green...like...like spring grass" adam said, the pain killers obviously working their charm.
"good. and what else?" jordyn asked, seeing her idea worked.
"doctor yang, maybe we should-"
"no one asked you" cristina interrupted giving a deadly stare towards lexie. it was quite scary.
"i-i can't. please take it off" adam begged.
"no, no. can't quit push through it" the dad/coach barked at the son.
"okay just one more plate" cristina mumbled to the boy.
"adam, you're strong. you can handle this. want to be a quitter, do you? huh, do you?" the man was now practically screaming at his college son. jordyn felt so bad for him.
"okay, you know what? that's it. that's it. that's twenty pounds" cristina finished.
"there, you did it. right? told you you could do it" the dad said with relief in his breathe.
"doctor long get him out. please. long please get him out" adam was crying in pain as he spoke. jordyn who stood the right of the patient locked eyes with the father. he was much more taller then he looked.
"adam, i'm just trying to help out-"
"please get out! get out! get out! get out!" the boy screamed in utter anguish.
"adam, adam, calm down. try not to upset him. adam" cristina said over the screaming pleads of the boy. "adam, calm down" jordyn realized she needed to calm him down. she reached for his hand, something he had been doing all day.
"adam it's o-it's okay" lexie seemingly doing the same thing and reaching for his left hand.
"what're you two doing? don't touch him. the slightest movement could-put his hands down, gently" cristina demanded. the interns put the hands down quicker then the freaking flash.
"i'm so sorry. i forgot" lexie apologized.
"it was an accident" jordyn attempted to redeem herself as well.
"now step away from the patient and leave the room. both of you. get out right now or i will throw you out" yang said her eyes showing bloodlust. the two began to quickly exit the room before doctor shepherd entered stopping their leaves.
"doctor grey, take over for doctor yang. doctor long you can go on lunch. doctor yang, a word" and before jordyn could say anything she rushed out of the room. she didn't want to be near an angry doctor yang longer then she needed to. she could tell that she didn't want to yell at jordyn specifically. mainly just lexie. but they both made major surgical mistakes. and now they must deal with the consequences. which are apparently getting food and leading surgery.
โโ
doctor long hoped to walk into the caffetia and watch the downfall of isobel stevens by herself in a corner far far away from doctor yang and doctor karev. but this is seattle grace. there's no such thing as hope. just facts.
"one" hollered yang, directing her to come over where she was. ah shit, here we go again. do i even have any dignity left in my body?
"yes doctor yang" jordyn asked putting on a fake happy face.
"sit down. am i bad resident?" cristina asked as jordyn followed her bidding, sitting down next to her resident.
"you can be a tad mean sometimes, but i think that's good in a resident" jordyn said honestly. no need in lying.
"i like you more and more each day long, i mean one. i was trying to scream at unicorn lexie, not you" yang tried to support herself.
"totally get it doctor yang" jordyn simply said. she liked how her relationship with doctor yang was. it was as if she protected her. jordyn wondered why. probably because she sees herself in me.
"you guys seen callie?" izzie asked sliding into the chair next to jordyn. "and why is there an intern sitting next to me?"
"no! ooh! is it time for her to grind your bones into dust?" cristina said almost too seriously, making it even funnier.
"and this intern is here to see you get the crap beaten out of you by torres" jordyn said a simple smirk on her face. izzie didn't find it amusing.
"relax izz she's the sane one" cristina reassured. maybe cristina wasn't as selfish as everyone says she is.
"you don't think i can take her?" asked izzie to the two doctors who were stuffing there faces with salad. specifically a caesar salad for jordyn.
"are you guys really doing this?" asked meredith quite shocked.
"you heard?" izzie said in a not shocked way.
"the whole hospital heard" meredith simply said.
"yeah, well, that explains the line at the salad bar" izzie concernedly bite her underlip.
"well, what are you fighting about?" asked meredith. george was right. no one really did know the real reason. not even his closest friends.
"believe me you don't want to know. long" answered alex who slid into the seat diagonal to her own.
"karev" jordyn returned the greeting. she was still mad at him. she did a pretty damn good job at avoiding him for the past week. wait, did he also know about george and izzie? was she not alone?
"alex" izzie warned before alex went on any tangent.
"i'm just saying, whatever it is, it's not worth it" said while biting into a potato chip. so he did know. the man was a terrible liar. he was a truther.
"actually, it is. some things are worth fighting for" izzie defended giving icy glares back at alex. the two annoyingly stared at eachother, as if they were confused over a common issue.
"what's up with you and stevens" jordyn whispered over into alex's ear, curious to what he knew.
"none of your business. and i thought we weren't talking" alex responded, continuing to down his potato chips.
"we aren't. this is a one time fling of conversation. i'm asking if you know about mistress and the whore" jordyn whispered at an all time low volume so that neither izzie, cristina, or meredith could hear them.
"how do you-"
"because i'm friendly to people. who aren't you know...you" jordyn admitted now using her normal voice. alex simply rolled his eyes at the intern, with still slight malicious intent in them. he was too pissed at izzie to be pissed at jordyn as well. finally callie walked into the cafeteria, everyone's eyes landing right on her. everyone seemed to stop what they were doing.
"guess i bought popcorn on the right day. want some?" jordyn offered to alex. "can this be an, i'm sorry were not talking and i'd like my annoying attending friend back please treaty?"
"i can never resist food" alex simply responded, popping a popcorn in his mouth. the two simply giggled. they were both too stubborn to hold a grudge against eachother and they knew it. or maybe they didn't. i don't know. jordyn and alex are two confusing characters give me a break.
"i'm a street fighter. i've got some badass in me. i could take a girl down" izzie said towards the table while stretching her arms. jordyn and alex as if on command lied back in their chairs excited to see the show.
"izzie" meredith alerted, making izzie turn around to be face to face with callie. it was kind of scary. while cristina and meredith looked frightened and even worried for izzie, jordyn and alex had big smirks on.
"eight buck says stevens gets scared and runs away" jordyn predicted with a mouthful of popcorn.
"ten says she gets stitches" alex added, grabbing his own handful of popcorn. izzie began to kick off her shoes, completely focused on kicking callie's ass. "punch with your left. protect your face with your right"
"and if things get bad go for the knees. they'll destabilize her for a couple of seconds. you can get a few good shots at her" jordyn added.
"no, your hands-protect your surgeon hands. your face can heal" yang interjected stealing some of jordyn's popcorn.
"how the hell do you know how to fight?" asked alex almost shocked to know jordyn knew anything about wrestling.
"my dad's a big wrestling fan. have to hear him every week shout at the tv. and you don't get big scars like this from not knowing how to fight" jordyn joked, pointing at her eyebrow scar.
"touchรฉ, doctor i still live with my parents" alex responded getting a punch in the shoulder from jordyn. izzie had her hair now tied back in a ponytail.
"stevens" callie cleared her throat as izzie now took off all of her jewelry.
"let's go. let's go" izzie taunted cracking her neck.
"go where?" asked callie obviously confused. uh oh.
"you know, go." izzie answered, hands now in fists.
"i wanted to talk" callie said, hurt behind her words. izzie put her hands down awkwardly.
"you want to talk. you don't want to kick my ass?" questioned izzie, heavily embarrassed.
"you thought i was gonna fight you? you... that's cr-" callie stopped talking to look around at all of the anticipating doctor's waiting for a brawl, but instead getting a big misunderstanding. meredith hadn't stopped bouncing her leg, cristina had a ton of jordyn's popcorn shoved in her mouth, and alex and jordyn majorly regretted telling izzie fighting strategies. callie sadly sighed and turned around out of the cafeteria to get her food, excusing herself through the crowd.
"oh my god" izzie mumbled sitting back down in her chair. jordyn couldn't help but silently giggle. what a catastrophe.ย
"you were very ghetto fabulous" cristina commented finally swallowing down her popcorn. alex and jordyn both got up from the table, both having way better things to do then mourn with izzie. george burst through the cafeteria door, very much so late to the party.
"what happened? was there a fight?" asked george, scared for his life.
"nope. instead we got a good embarrassment of isobel stevens" jordyn answered still snacking on her popcorn.
"guess they realized they were fighting over nothing" alex added, making the interaction have a little sting to it. the two walked out of the cafeteria before jordyn pulled alex over to the wall.
"look. i know you have this thing with izzie or whatever, but stop ruining george's life more then he did to himself, alright" jordyn attempted to support her friend, but it was hard when all she wanted to do was be in bed. or maybe finishing that salad she left on the table. whoops.
"i have every right to make fun of o'malley. izzie told me she wasn't ready. and i backed off. and then she went and screwed with george. she screwed with george" alex said before leaving jordyn alone in a hospital hallway.
"i love this job!" she shouted to absolutely no one.
โโ
"you think he'll walk again?" lexie asked derek, who was busily working on his brain.
"he better, or his dad is gonna kill him" jordyn joked. everyone stared at her eerily. "sorry not funny"
"it's not impossible. mm. we have a bleeder. i need you to cauterize the vein, doctor grey" doctor shepherd ordered lexie. yes lex!
"oh, okay. i...i, um...i-i can't find it. i-i-i can't see where it starts. um. it's coming too quickly" lexie panicked barely pulling together real words. there jordyn stood across the surgery bed from her, and she felt helpless as a lamb you see on a random field.
"stop. suction around it. you have to see where the bleed is coming from first. follow the flow to the source. good. okay, now bovie it" doctor yang stuck up, instructing her intern on what to do. jordyn couldn't help but smirk under her mask.
"got it" lexie acclaimed, shocked at her own words.
"good job. doctor yang, if you don't mind stepping in?" doctor shepherd asked, leading to lexie backing up from the surgery bed. lexie and jordyn locked eyes, both with excitement. progress.
โโ
jordyn was having an all nighter at the hospital tonight, so she knew sleep was necessary for her to get through her shift. of course, when you're a surgeon, sleep isn't always an option though. jordyn attempted to sleep before she heard the room's door open and close. she could smell alex's cologne from the bed.
"so i'm invisible now?" alex asked standing against the door.
"what do you want? you're interrupting me from my nap so this better be damn good" jordyn groaned sitting herself up from the bed. alex simply sat in the bed beside her.
"o'malley. o'malley. and then she tells me like i'm one of her chick friends. come on...i'm better then this. i'm better then her" alex exclaimed anger seeping threw his veins.
"i know. well, you still hold a torch for that ava girl, right? so let her hold a torch out for george. besides he's married right now so it'll take a while before they're actually together-if they even get together at all" jordyn attempted to add another perspective to his thoughts, even if that sounded impossible.
"i loved izzie. hell...maybe i still do...and she never even loved me back. to her i'm probably still the guy who cheated on her with the syphilis chick" alex scoffed laying down on the bed.
"i'm glad we're friends now. doing shit like this soothes the hell out of me" stated jordyn randomly laying down like alex.
"you'd be one good therapist" alex agreed.
"it was my other choice for a profession" jordyn admitted. a small but nice silence filled the air for a second.
"thanks for being my friend jordy" alex said locking eyes with the blonde who lied exhausted on the bed.
"you're welcome karev" jordyn yawned before the two passed out on the beds, the sounds of their snores being heard throughout the hospital.

A/N: alex and jordyn are my brotp right now i swear. their stubbornness really reflects on each other, and makes them the best versions of themselves. they're definitely not gonna get together soon, but mainly because jordyn isn't just someone who hooks up, yet. also look at jordyn sticking up for george and lexie (isn't she the best) also also her relationship with cristina, even derek and meredith is so sweet. also also also can you tell who my least favorite grey's character is yet? cause if you can't you haven't been reading this book ;)
