"stop moping over that loser! it's been three months," julia groaned at her best friend. the blue eyed girl laid on the end of alina's bed with her head almost dangling off the edge of it. she twirled a strand of her brown hair, aimlessly checking the ends of it in the process. alina, on the other hand, laid on the opposite side of her bed with her phone in her hands, her feet lying flat against her comforter, and her knees bent.

she sighed, "i know, but i just can't get over it. i tried everything!" she locked her phone and set it to the side. alina then muttered to herself, "i hate his stupid face."

sofia sat in the corner of alina's bedroom by her desk/vanity and swiveled around in her chair as she listened, "well..." she blew air through her lips. "have you tried getting a rebound?"

alina sat up from her position and looked at her friend. a rebound? she forgot that that was even an option. she never would've imagined that it would be a thought in her mind at some point in her life. "no," she admitted, feeling like she should've invested in one before succumbing to unwanted thoughts about her ex. "there's no one to even rebound with."

"what about that kid from your history class? the one with glasses and blond hair? alex... something?" julia suggested.

"not my type," alina shook her head.

"it's a rebound. they don't have to be your type," sofia reminded her. "it could literally be anyone as long as you both find each other even the littlest bit attractive."

"i could probably put you on with some guys. i'll show you pics and you can decide who you want," julia stopped playing with her hair and sat up on the bed, smirking at her friend.

"yeah, i don't think i even wanna be near the guys you know to be honest, jules," alina responded. as much as she loved the girl, she knew the strangest and douchiest men out there. and because julia didn't really even talk to men in general all that much, basically all five of the men she knew were off putting.

sofia then stopped spinning side to side on the chair and grinned. an idea popped into her head and her girlfriend and friend could practically see the lightbulb above her head. "why not chris?"

alina's eyes widened a bit. she thought she was just hearing things, "...like as in sturniolo?" sofia nodded her head and julia smiled and started to ecstatically kick her feet on the bed like it was the greatest idea she's ever heard. alina didn't agree though. she shook her head, "no, definitely not. chris is... chris, he literally is a carbon copy of my cousin and i just can never even think about hooking up with him. that seems illegal. as much as i adore that man, i just would never and could never do it."

"okay, and what about matt?" julia bit her lip to contain her smile. she wanted to giggle so bad. "i agree with the whole chris thing and how he just doesn't seem like he's for you, but you always have matt."

"i'm definitely not gonna hook up with him either," alina scoffed. the whole idea seemed ridiculous to her. like c'mon. the guy next door who just happened to be best friends with her older brother? no way. "i don't wanna rebound with him. he's such a sweet guy, he's probably looking for something more serious and he deserves that. and also, he and sam are practically each other's boyfriends at this point. i just—i just can't hook up with him either. the sturniolos are an absolute no." alina started to stumble over her words because the mere concept of getting with either matt or chris was just such a far reach for her. her brain couldn't even compute it.

"i don't knowwww," julia's voice became high pitched and she raised her eyebrows. "i'm not gonna lie, matt would probably be into it. he seems into you."

alina's mouth fell open in shock. like, jaw was absolutely dropped all the way to hell. she couldn't believe what her ears were hearing. part of her felt like her friends were either pranking her or were overtaken by a villainous entity, praying on her downfall. a skeptical laugh escaped from her lips, "alright, what the fuck are we talking about right now?"

julia modified her seating position on the bed so that one leg was dangling off from the side with the other tucked underneath. she clapped her hands together and licked her lips before talking as if she's been waiting to have this conversation for a while now. "ali, i genuinely believe this man has heart eyes for you, lowkey," she began. alina rolled her eyes and julia extended her hand out to her arm before alina could judge her. "no, no, no, no, hear me out, okay?"

alina continued to shake her head, "nope, not hearing you out at all."

"no, let her speak. i wanna hear this," sofia grinned, amusedly.

"jules, this is matt sturniolo you're talking about. i've only known the guy for two years," alina tried to rationalize with her.

"okay, you say that as if two years isn't that long of a time to know each other," she responded to her. julia pinched her fingers together and moved her hands with every word she said to emphasize her point, "i guarantee you matt has probably thought about getting with you at least once, maybe twice, within those two years."

sofia agreed, "honestly, yeah. like, there's no way he hasn't thought about it. regardless of you dating lucas."

alina rolled her eyes once more, "you two are a match made in freakville. both of you just think that everyone wants to hook up with everyone."

"i mean, they usually do," sofia shrugged.

"oh, and don't even get me started on the way matt says your name," julia smirked at alina. "alina," she attempted to mimic matt's voice and cadence, but didn't do much of a very good job at it, which made alina and sofia laugh.

"he does not say my name like that," she protested, "and even if he does say my name a certain way, it's probably because he's from boston. he probably still has an accent."

"i'm just saying that you should give the kid a chance," julia encouraged.

"i don't wanna give him a chance and i also don't think he even wants one," alina told. and that was the cold hard truth. she never saw matt or any of his brothers as eligible bachelors for her. especially matt himself. sure the two were friends, but she always saw him more as her brother's friend than anything.

sofia narrowed her eyes at alina and tilted her head, "didn't you tell me your dream man as a kid was a combination of harry styles and zayn malik from one direction? not gonna lie, if you really think about it, matt could totally be that combination. the tattoos, the dark hair."

alina chuckled, "you're crazy and delusional. matt is nothing like harry or zayn. that sounds like absolute blasphemy."

"but like, whenever we hang out or we run into him, his feet are always pointing towards you. isn't it a thing where a guy's feet will always point at what they want?" sofia mentioned. alina felt like she time-traveled back to middle school and she was listening to her friends using random hoaxes they found on the internet to justify their delusions again. stuff like that was just so outdated and totally not true at all.

"that can't actually be a thing, like there's no way," she shook her head. "if he and i are talking then why wouldn't his feet be pointing towards me?"

"i don't know," sofia shrugged, "i've never seen his feet point towards me or jules."

"why would you be looking at his feet?" alina questioned.

"well sometimes you and him yap to each other so much for so long that my eyes just sort of wander all over the place and i sometimes look down on the floor. where his feet are. and they're usually pointing at you," she explained herself.

"we're just saying, if you can't find anyone else to rebound with so you can finally get over your piece of shit ex, you always have matt," julia teasingly smiled, earning a suppressed smile and a pillow being thrown at her by alina.

it didn't really matter how much julia and sofia tried to convince her to hook up with matt. alina was never gonna do it. mostly because she just never thought that she and matt could be more than friends, but also because samir would riot with the entire city of LA if she did. as cliché as it may sound, her brother's best friend was off limits. it was sort of an unspoken rule and she intended to follow it.
