𝐍𝐄𝐒𝐒𝐀 owed Sirius. It was one of the worst predicaments in the world, owing a boy as arrogant as him. Every chance he could, he'd remind her of the debt. How she wished she could lash her tongue and be done with it, but she knew he'd hold that against her too. So she clamped her mouth shut and bare his belligerence. The only place she could be spared from his gormless chatter was the Slytherin common room, but she couldn't stay there forever- she had classes to attend! Pity was that Sirius Black was in every single one. 

It occurred to her that she may never need to repay him; maybe he just liked to watch her squirm. When the summer holidays came and went, she thought she was free from his grip. Black no longer jeered, and it even seemed to avoid her for the entire term. As winter drew near, she readied herself to return home for Christmas; and that was when Sirius came knocking on her door.

What he asked wasn't completely unreasonable. She was expecting something cruel, as a payback for what she did to him; but all Sirius asked for was for some help with his studying. She had an hour or two to spare, so they both made their way to the library, whereupon Sirius presented her with a large pile pre-selected books and ordered to her to read and take as many notes as possible. She was confused, as she opened the first book and flipped to the page that had been bent in.

It was on werewolves.

They hadn't studied werewolves since the third year. Even if Sirius had decided to revise out of the blue, this was far too advanced for mere students; the book went into a depth that was meant for magizoologists. Nevertheless, she did as he told, writing and reading with alacrity. 

Most of the books were about werewolves. She kept coming across the same pieces of information, and so ended up getting through the pile pretty quickly. The last few moved onto something rather unexpected; animagi. She continued with her notes, finding the process intriguing. She would've liked to be an animagus, that is if she had the chance. 

When they had finished through the pile, Sirius asked her to leave. No thank you, no nothing. And so she left the library in a stupor, with one question on her mind.

Was Sirius Black a werewolf?!

━━━𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐀𝐂𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐅𝐈𝐋𝐄 + 𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐄;

I. nessa is an irish and scandinavian name that means fierce (or more accurately, not gentle). there are two origins for the surname doan- one origin is from vietnamese, meaning 'elegant and powerful family/group'. the other origin is from old english, meaning 'low, rolling hills'. 
II. nessa was born on the 19th of April 1960. she is a half-blood. she was sorted into slytherin house in 1971. this book will take place during her and the marauder's fifth year.
III. nessa can be impulsive and hot-headed. this often leads her to hold a lot of guilt and regrets. over the years, she has learned to tame her behaviour, and she's labelled as the quiet girl. in reality, she's a seething mess. without siblings or many friends, she is rather lonely. i want to note that she does not diffuse her anger, she buries it. she struggles with prejudice that comes with being from slytherin, and also being a half-blood, in a time where blood purity meant everything.
IV. nessa has always had a hard time with the marauders, sirius especially. they often have clashed with each other, and were 'arch-nemeses'. they were never as harsh as they were with snape, but there were days when their taunts drove her off the edge. she never came out with anything outlandish, till one day she snapped at sirius, hailing him with abuse. later, she comes back to him trying to apologise, and says that she will do anything because she was in the wrong. he agrees with this deal, and continues to remind her of it throughout the rest of the term. guilt mounts upon nessa as the days go on.
V. when sirius asks for the favour, he seems distracted and rather worried. he is not his usual gloating self. they study for the night in the library in silence. the next day, nessa travels back home to celebrate christmas with her parents. though she enjoys being back home, she is hindered by what she had read in the library.
VI. when she returns to hogwarts, she confronts sirius on whether he is a werewolf or not. when he dismisses it, she goes to the marauders, who swiftly brush the topic off. it is at this point nessa begins to worry, and her guilt really begins to tug at her.
VII. she should later find out the truth behind the situation- perhaps witnessing transformation or sirius opening up to her in a moment of weakness. there should be moments of friction between them still, but it is at the point now where nessa is genuinely worrying for her classmates.
VIII. during the duration of the narrative, nessa continues to help keep remus's secret, help the marauder's with becoming animagi, and depending on you preference, becoming one herself.
IX. the friction between sirius and nessa should stay present, since there is still a distance between them; but eventually they end up talking maturely about their mistakes. i really would like the fic to focus on the discrimination between each of the houses, and how slytherin bares the brunt of most of it. i want these two to overcome prejudices laid out of ingrained into them, and come together despite that. i want them also to find solace through their troubles, beginning to trust each other as time goes on.

i think you can have a lot of fun with this
plot. honestly, i feel like the prejudice
in hp is often brushed aside. people
really just accept it, but you wouldn't
accept prejudice like that if it dealt
with real world problems...

i think nessa is an interesting
character. she hasn't quite mastered
dealing with her problems yet.
nor has sirius discovered he is
being a complete and utter
ARSE, but i think at their core
they are good people. they
come together to help their
classmate through a troubling
