ย  ย THE CLEARING, THAT'S HOW WE NAMED the secret place in the forest. We had gone there a couple of times after finding it, but Kim still had to step foot inside of it. We could see the excitement in her eyes as we taught her how to search for it with her magic essence. She wanted to go there since she had read about it in the grimoire. And finally, her wish was going to come true.

It was exactly like we had left it, the seasons, the natural elements and conditions like weather never touching it. Trees created an outline for the space, in the middle, there was the flat rock with the four elemental symbols and the pentagram in the middle carved into it. We had added personal touches to the place. Like a chest with some of the essentials, like herbs, oils, crystals, a couple of bags of salt... There was a box with some snacks and a bottle of water. Some blankets and pillows if we ever wanted to relax there.

The most prominent addiction to making the space more comfortable were sitting pillows, that after we had jokingly spoken of them the first time we had found the place, we had actually decided to buy them. There was a yellow one sitting at east for air, Amelia's place, the red one to the south for fire, my element and cardinal direction. Towards north there was a green one for Kim, and lastly, at west, the blue one was for the water witch that was still locked.

"This is- Wow." Kim stuttered, completely taken off by the beauty of the place. She twisted on her place, eyes shifting everywhere.

The Clearing lived on its own, without interference on any kind. It was almost like stepping into another dimension.

"Yeah, I know." Amelia said with the same awed struck expression that we all matched.

This place was beautiful, there were no words to describe it. And not only for its beauty but from the feeling that emanated. The deep sense of peacefulness that made everything seems so much better.

"Come on, let's take a seat. Of course you are at north, Kim. The green pillow is yours." I said snapping myself from the beauty of this place. We had work to do, we could linger on this afterwards.

Each one of us sat down at our spots, the empty space at west suddenly felt much more than that. I noticed how we all stopped with our gaze there with matching frowns.

"This feels much emptier now." Kim muttered under her breath, but it was still loud enough for us to catch it.

"Yeah. It's probably our magic wanting to finally be completed. You know, calling for the fourth. This place is made for the coven and we are still not one." Amelia said, letting out a sigh. "Let's not think more about it."

"Okay, so, what's the plan again?" Kim asked, regaining her smile.

"Elemental magic induced vision. Similar to the one that Amelia and I had that warned us about you suddenly unlocking your element." I said as I took out from the tote bag the old grimoire.

"The only problem is that there is not much information on that. Only that it is very complicated to have one at will. " Mia added with a bitter smile.

"Then as soon as we master that we should definitely add more information in there about it." Kim suggested. "You know, for the future covens. Should we start a journal on our powers too? Like the old coven did?"

"That is actually not a bad idea." I clicked my tongue on the roof of my mouth as I placed the spell book in the middle of the flat rock, just above the pentagram. "It's good to track our progress, even for ourselves. For now, let's start with the visions."

"Do you have the notes that you wrote?" Kim asked, making me take the piece of paper out from the grimoire that I had previously put down.

"Okay so-" Amelia started, she shifted on her seat getting more comfortable, her eyebrows lowered as she thought as she spoke "Maybe we should hold hands. It usually creates a circle where the magic can flow freely between us, right?"

"That should help. Yes." I annotated that at the back of the instruction paper, before I followed Amelia and Kim by joying my hands with them. As previously discussed, we had decided that I was going to be the one to lead us through the spell. We had come up with some ideas on how to make it possible to work. We had no idea if any of that would actually do it, it was more of a trial and error type of thing. "Close your eyes and breath until you can enter the dark room."

The dark room, the place we had all dreamed about since we were kids. Each one of us thought, had always only had the room invaded with what would have been our element. Now insted, the room that functioned as a bridge for the wolvesโ€” and what we knew was going to be the connection for the covenโ€” it had a merge of three elements as of now. Fire, Air and Earth. It was easy to access that, we had after all been using that for some time now to communicate with the pack when they were in their wolf form, even Kim had no problem reaching it.

When I opened my eyes, I was there. The other two witches along with me. Even if our bodies were still in the physical world, I could only feel their hands tethered to mine.

"This was the easy part." Kim acknowledged, as we walked until we were standing in the middle and we could grip each other's hands in here too.

"Okay now the second step." I said, heaving a sigh as we closed our eyes again. "We need to enter an even deeper state of trance. Eyes closed and continue to take deep breaths. Try to keep your mind from wandering. Only when you'll feel that it's the right moment, think about what we wanted to see. The next witch and the next wolf."

Trial and error. I already knew that it wouldn't have been easy to have a vision on command, but not hard to spend six hours, almost seven trying to have one. But at least, our magic had shown us what we need.

The witch and the shifter.

The vision was fleeting, we had to grasp it with all our strengths to have just a couple of images of it. It was chaotic, a complete mess that we couldn't even remember anything of it other than the faces of the next pair.

The girl with doe eyes and shy smile and the boy with a chin dimple and shoulder lengths wavy hair. Layla Thompson and Embry Call.

Layla was the girl that I had met only once before, on the beach in the middle of fall where she was soaking herself in the gelid sea water. And Embry, Jacob Black best friend. ย

Hello everyone!

I know, this is a very small chapter.

I wanted to do something different and show a bit more of the girl's powers.

If you don't remember, in the first act, even before Sam shifted, Beatrice met Layla.

And she is the last witch!

Anyways, thank you for reading this chapter, I'll see you on Tuesday!
