โฐโห ยท ยฐ . ย BONFIRES TOOK A WHOLE OTHER MEANING after the discovery that all the legends told to us since mere children were indeed true.
Crowded around the fire, the elder council of our tribe would tell us the stories, making all us without exception fall into them. It was like they had a special power, even after hearing it for our whole life, living through the supernatural world, those Myths and Legends spoken out loud for us to hear never failed to amaze me. It was almost like I could see the stories play in my mind.
But other than telling the legends, it was a place for the elders to be kept into everything that was happening, and for us supernatural teenagers to be free of our burdens and laugh around a fire with plates of food.
We had already had one before when Amelia and Jared had changed. It was still very cold outside at the time, snow falling from the sky, but it had been one of the best nights of my life. Now, with two new people in the pack and coven, the elders had requested another bonfire. Sam was the one that usually kept them informed with all the news since he was the alpha, but bonfires gave them the space and atmosphere necessary to have a relationship with both the pack and coven.
With the sun low in the sky, we had already gathered in the backyard of my house, the Sam and Paul were setting up the wood for the fire, the council elders, Billy Black, Quil Ateara โ ข, Harry Clearwater with his wife Sue where already sitting down on foldable chair chatting between them, while us girls with Jared where filling the table outside with food and drinks.
"You two sucks at this." Mia said, clearly judging the guys' work at starting the fire as she and Jared brought glasses with refreshment to the adults.
"Hey, at least we tried." Paul shrugged his shoulders, completely abandoning the plan.
"Just light it up, Beatrice." Called Billy Black motioned to the pit, rolling his eyes at the two teenagers' attitudes.
Snapping my fingers together to create a spark, flames engulfed my hand warming my soul, and in a second, it transferred to the logs, lightening up until the flame had taken over and could burn without magic.
Maybe a little bit too much.
"Of course she did it." Jared commented seeing the large fire.
"What did you expect?" Mia added with a scoff.
"We do not need to burn the house down, Tris. A bit less, please." Sam groaned, pinching the bridge of his nose.
It was definitely too high of a flame for a simple bonfire. "Sorry." I chuckled, waving my hand and lessening the strong flame to almost half of what it had been.
"Maddison, come here." Billy called the girl. A warm smile on his lips that the girl reciprocated. "Sam told me about your sister and that Cullen boy."
Silence fell, only the sound of the cracking wood to hear for a second.
"Yeah." she breathed out. "I'm pretty sure she knows now. They made it official that they are together."
"You think she knows about the fact that he is a vampire?" Sue chimed in, placing a comforting hand on the girl's one.
"Yes, I'm pretty sure that she knows."
"They are together? Officially?" Kim asked, taking the empty seat next to Maddison.
One after the other we all sat down. Jared sat next to Kim, close enough that he could wrap his arm around her shoulders. Mia took the seat next to him leaving an empty space for me as Sam had sat next to Old Quil on the other side. It wasn't the biggest bonfire, so in the end, Paul had no other choice but to sit on my side.
"They are. He has been coming to our house every morning since Monday to drive her to school. I'm pretty sure she is going to meet his family this weekend." Maddison explained.
"This is not good." Jared jumped in, commenting definitely not something comforting for the girl.
"But it's not our place to do anything about it." Sam said, looking each of us clearly in the eyes. "We can only do something if she is in danger and the Cullens start to drink human blood."
"She is already in danger with those bloodsuckers." Paul said, venom coating his words.
"They have not broken any laws of the treaty yet, other than talking we can't do nothing about it." Sam replied, his tone harsher, more commanding.
"How did she find out about them?" Harry asked "Do you think he told her?"
Letting out a scoff that was very much drenched in jealousy, Maddi answered. "Bella is smart and they are not very subtle. Plus Jake told her the legends. How you descend from the wolves and how the Cullens from an enemy Clan. She had a book with some of the legends of the tribe in her room."
"Are you kidding me?" Billy Black, the chief of the council groaned in his hands. His son had not only broken the rule of not telling the legends to any one outside the Rez once, with Maddison, but twice."I'll talk with him about it."
"Your brother really does not know how to keep his mouth shut, does he?" Paul asked rhetorically. Pushing herself a bit up from her seat, Amelia bypassed me and slapped the shifter behind his head.
"Okay stop you two, or change places so I'm not in the middle of this." I said cutting off the glaring contest between the wolf and witch.
"On another note." Old Quil chimed. "Have you already figured out the next pair?"
"Paul and Kim changed a bit too fast. We were not expecting them yet, so no." I said with a tight lipped smile.
"Any idea of who they are?" Harry asked, turning towards where Mia, Kim and I were."The witch?"
We looked between each other, and we all shook our heads. We had no idea who it could be.
"The wolf?"
"Not yet but we are keeping an eye out mostly for the descendants of the old pack." Sam replied to the question.
"Quil, Jacob and Seth?" Old Quill asked to which the alpha nodded.
"They have the strongest chance of shifting." Jared explained.
"Are you doing the same for the witches?" Sue asked.
"No." I answered. "The closest female descendants from the Black Pack are Amelia, Leah and I. And-"
"And Leah does not like water very much." Sam finished cutting me off.
"Yes, she doesn't." The woman gave him a tight lipped smile. A smile filled with pity.
Taking his eyes off the mother of his girlfriend, not wanting to talk more about it, Sam decided to say. "We are trying to up the patrol shifts at the treaty line for any signs of the nomads but we are still not enough to do it as much as we would like."
"We are trying to help them with that by adding spells and refreshening the old ones but until we have the last witch, we can't do more. Our magic is still not complete." Kim added, her finger brushing against the soft grass as she made a bright yellow tulip grow in seconds.
It was the hard truth. Shifter had to just phase for the first time to be with their full abilities, us witches, without a complete coven, were left unbalanced and with half completed magic. And the more time it passed, the harder it was for us to get a hold of most magic. Even our own elements would soon try to fight against us.

โฐโห ยท ยฐ . ย The sun had quickly gone down, the moon shining above with the stars. We were all around the bonfire, Billy Black, as chief of the elder council had started to tell the legends. Everyone was carefully listening to him, or at least almost everyone. Because I was too focused on the girl sitting on my side to listen. Her presence was almost too much to bear. Even without moving, or saying a word, Beatrice was like a wildfire that called to me.
"As you knowโ some of you even experiencedโ shifters in our tribe have what we call imprints." It was the only thing that my brain deemed important enough to snap my gaze from Beatrice. "It's one of our most guarded secrets, along with the coven. And sometimes, more often than not, the two things align." Billy glanced briefly at me, fortunately quick enough to not make it obvious, before stopping to Jared, who held his imprint between his arms like he would love nothing more than stay like that for the rest of his life.
Pathetic if you ask me. And still, one small glance at the witch on my side from the corner of my eye, and I was totally disagreeing with myself.
"What do you mean there more often than not?" Almost panicked, Amelia asked her father.
Letting out a sigh, it was Old Quil that spoke next. "All four witches from the Black pack of the 1930s were imprints. And we are aware of many cases in the previous packs as well."
"You gotta be kidding me." Beatrice groaned, her head falling into her hands. That was definitely not a good sign.
"And there had not been any previous she-wolves, right?" Amelia asked, sounding too cheerful. Maybe it was because she was gay that she thought that no one could imprint on her.
"The imprinting bond can be platonic too Amelia." Jared burst her bubble with a barely concealed grin.
"If any of you fuckers on four legs imprints on me, I'm going to kill you and use your fur to make myself a coat. And a rug." She glared.
"I need a rug. The last one I had in my room was reduced to ashes." Beatrice chimed in with a smirk. I couldn't help but winch at that.
Definitely not a good sign.
"Okay you two, calm down. It's not like they can control it." Maddison said, sending a pointed look to her two friends. "How high is this possibility of all of them having been an imprint?" Her logical thinking coming through.
Harry Clearwater looked her in the eyes as he spoke with a serious tone. "High."
Silence fell, and once again I couldn't help but steal glances at the girl on my side. She was deep in her thoughts for a second, only for her to turn towards the air witch with a wicked smile. "Maybe we should do matching fur coats."
I groaned out loud, I couldn't help it, but she definitely caught on.
"Anything to add?" She said with a too sharp smile.
"Didn't you hear the part where we cannot control it, little arsonistย ?" I asked, raising an eyebrow as I looked down at her.
"Not my problem." She dismissed the thought as it was nothing. The bonfire flames lightning her features, reflecting themselves into her eyes.
"It's just a possibility that we wanted you to be aware of." Billy said, taking back the reign of the conversation as he went on and told us the story of how his grandfather had imprinted on her grandmother, the previous earth witch.
For as long as the story was told, unfolding by the words of the chief of the elders council, Beatrice stared at the fire before her as it held the answers to her every question. There was longing in her eyes, but more than that, there was a dimmed spark that only the bright orange, yellow and red colors of the fire could bring out. And as she stared at the element she was bonded with, I was totally and utterly focused on her.
I didn't notice how my heart was beating steadily in my chest. How I couldn't feel even a slight silver of anger lingering in my body. Or how my lips were tilting upwards in the beginning of one of the softest smiles that I had ever created.
But I noticed how her arms were littered in goosebumps from the cold, probably too distracted to use the power of her element to warm herself.
I noticed how when I placed a blanket around her shoulder as my hand brushed against the bare skin of her neck the almost ever present tension in her shoulders dropped slightly.
I noticed how her eyes held surprise at the simple gesture, as she would have never thought I would be able to even think of doing something like that.
I noticed how her lips, hidden under the blanket that she brought her up to cover the lower half of her face, had a slight tilt to it.
I noticed how her expression had softened.
"Thank you." She whispered, not loud enough to disturb the peaceful atmosphere around us but enough for me to hear without even my enchanted hearing.
And most of all, I noticed how unconsciously she had moved slightly closer to me until her leg was almost touching mine.

Hello everyone!
CUTEEEE!!!
I already love these two so much. I need a ship name for my babies, please comment some!
Mia and Tris are literally so iconic together. They are probably what I want from a friendship tbh.
What do you think? Will all the witches be imprints? If yes, I'm curious about your pairings, let me know!!
Anyways, thank you for reading this chapter, I'll see you on Tuesday!
