โฐโห ยท ยฐ . ย Maddison Swan wasn't feeling good. That morning she woke up feeling her chest hurt. It wasn't that rare of a feeling lately, she would wake up, clutch her chest, go along her day and return at night back at holding her hand above her heart as she could soothe the organ inside. That morning it took her more than usual to get out of bed, her hand scrunching the fabric of her shirt as she tried to focus back on the world around.
I'm fine, I'm fine, I'm fine, she continued to repeat.
She showered, she put on some comfortable clothes, she ate her breakfast on her way to school, and she handled as good as she could the day of exams.
She sat at her usual table in the cafeteria with people from her art course, being friendly not really friends. She ate the bad cafeteria food, exchanging a few words before burying her head in the textbooks to study as much as she could for her following exam.
When the last bell rang, she was collecting her things from her locker that she had decorated with so many photos taken in the recent yearsโwith the coven, with the pack, all togetherโher new favorite the one that they took the day of the strawberry themed picnic a month before, she lingered on the one that even with all her will, she couldn't get rid off. The Maddison in the photo was staring right back at her with a beaming smile and blue sparkling eyes from happiness, and looking at her without caring about the selfie being taken, there was Jacob. It had been taken on the day of Maddison's 16th birthday. The two had spent all day together only leaving each other's company when midnight had striked and it wasn't the girl's birthday anymore.
Her heart gave a painful tug in her chest as if to remind her of how those two teenagers had ended up be. She tore her gaze away, settling back to the books that she was trying to place back inside when her sister walked up to her.
"Hey," Bella started, tone breathless and low as if she wasn't sure if she wanted to speak at all, "I need to ask you a favor."
Maddison turned towards her. It was hard to not resent her, jealousy reared its ugly head in her mind viciously. Bella had smiled once at Jacob and he had irrevocably fallen in love with her. Maddison tried to tell herself that Bella had nothing to do with it, it wasn't her fault, Jacob was the one that fell. Maddison was sure that her sister didn't even know that she loved the boy more than a friend should've. Bella didn't know, she just thought that the two had a fall out since Jake resented the pack and Maddison was always hanging around them. But that didn't matter to her heart, or the jealousy that flowed everyday, every minute in her blood.
Maddison cleared her throat trying to dispel from her tone anything that would've sounded as close as she was actually feeling, "Sure, what do you need?"
"Are you going to the Rez today?" Bella fidgeted with the end of her sleeves, catching the door of the locker with her other hand. They weren't close, she wasn't sure if she had the right to ask her even this small favor. It was a saddening thought, the one that you feel like you can't even talk to your little sister, but they hadn't had the time to bond. There were too many things, too many people in between. After what had happened a few months prior outside the cinema, Bella felt ashamed and guilty, she didn't know how to apologize, how to make it better... so she did nothing.
"I am, yes." Maddison replied a bit weary. Maddison thought it was weird for her sister to ask her that. She had never questioned her whereabouts before, just like Maddison hadn't thought of asking how her sister spent her afternoons. "Do you want to come?" She decided to ask.
"Oh uh no, thank you." Bella stuttered quickly, maybe a bit too quick, caught off guard by the question.
It wasn't that she didn't like her friends, they were just... a lot for her. There were a lot of them and it didn't help that they were a loud bunch, they spoke a lot, teased and joked with each other in a way that felt so familiar. They argued a lot, and Bella didn't even know if it was simply lighthearted or they were about to fight. What she had seen the other day when she went to Emily's place for lunch, how fire had enveloped the table, she knew that it had been Beatrice to do it, how she didn't know.
The girls were all together, another thing to think about. What were they? If she had to be honest, Bella didn't like most of them. Well, Amelia, she really didn't like her, she was insensitive and brash. Kim was a bit too loud and cheerful for her tastes, Beatrice too straight forward, and her tongue had no filter, but at last she tried, in her way, to make her feel welcomed, even when she first moved and here and after Bella had slapped her. Layla was hard to get to know, she had arrived much later on in the group and was easily overshadowed by the bold personalities around her. It was safe to say that Bella was a bit intimidated around the four girls.
Jacob had told her that when they were together, most of the time it was exactly as she had seen. Paul continuously tried to get on Beatrice's nerves and they would usually end up arguingโwhich apparently was normal for their couple dynamicsโLeah was cold hearted and spat cruel words, Amelia had always something to say or someone to insult, Kim and Jared were always kissing and touching, Seth and Quil were loud and pranked everyone, sometimes dragging Embry, Jared and Beatrice with them, Layla and Maddison passed the time talking about books, sometimes heated debates had sparkled between the two as well because of that. And with distaste, Jacob had even said that when Embry and Layla were together, they would preclude themself in their love bubble and talk and talk and talk between them.
He had told her about the imprinting bonds, Jacob hadn't looked as ecstatic as one would think. Bella could go as far as say that he hated it. He had told her that this stupid bond had made all the guys into pathetic messes that listened and did everything their imprints wanted, losing their own personalities. Bella didn't know what to think about that.
Thinking that maybe she had been too brash when declining her sister's offer to hang out, Bella cleared her throat, "I have plans already today, but thank you." She said in the end.
"Okay." Maddison pursed her lips, "What favor do you need?"
"Dad brought my car to get checked today andโuh, I came with Edward this morning." Bella trailed off, shuffling on her feat and sighing. Why was this so hard?
"Do you need a ride home?" Maddison asked, not understanding.
"No, no, I was wondering if you could give me a ride to the Rez. I'm spending the afternoon with Jake." Bella asked, unaware of how Maddison's heart clenched painfully in her chest.
"You are hanging out with him." Maddison hadn't posed it as a question but Bella still answered as if it was one.
"Yeah, you know, after the finals... We both needed an afternoon of normalcy, I guess. Like we used to do back in january."
"Oh." Maddison felt like her heart was about to stop. But if there was one thing that Maddison had learned to do recently, was how to lie about how she felt. "Right, I can. Sure." She said a tad too quickly, closing the door of the locker without trying to catch a look of the photo of Jacob that she loved so much that hung in there with all the others. "I'm going now."
"Okay, alright, uh thank you. I'm good to go."
The ride to the Rez was silent and awkward to the point that Bella had even tried to make conversation. It hadn't lasted long, and soon, only the sound of the car traveling on the asphalt was heard.
"Thank you again." Bella said when Maddison parked the car outside Jacob's house. "I'm sure he can drive me back so don't worry about it."
"See you tonight." Maddison replied with a fake smile that she was almost sure her sister noticed.
Maddison turned the car back on, and she was driving back to Forks after sending a quick message to the girls telling them that she couldn't make it and that she was too tired after the two days of finals. Her head touched her pillow and the first tear fell.
Maddison had thought that the way her heart hurt had been painful enough, but she had to quickly change her mind a few hours later, when she felt like it was being ripped out of her chest, shredded until only mangled flesh remained.
Maddison sobbed loudly, the pain enough to make her curl into a ball and whimper, biting her lips to not scream.
She was being ripped to pieces from the inside out, her soul yanked from her body and fractured beyond repair.

Hello everyone!
What is happening? :)
ย I love this chapter because you can see a bit of Bella's pov as well as Maddison's. Bella not liking the girls is so on point. They are bitches, they are not meant to be liked tbh. They have a bit of a pack mentality where they care only about each others. And of course, Bella is literally the opposite of them, it's normal that she doesn't like them. Bella is a quiet person, being around the pack I know just makes her have a headache.ย
Maddison, what is happening to you? I'm so sorry, I don't want to hurt ย you my love but it's necessary for the plot.ย
I really like this, I don't know but I feel like writing in 3rd person just makes my writing so much better but I usually hate reading in 3rd person pov, it's less personal, more detached, that's why I usually write in 1st.
Thank you for reading this chapter, I'll see you on Tuesday!
