โฐโห ยท ยฐ . ย FOR ONE ENTIRE WEEK WE HAD KEPT OUR EYES ON the next pair of Quileute teenageres that were going to change. Billy had said a couple of days maximum, but it was taking definitely much more than that. Jared's anger with the days that passed, continued to increase and Amelia's head was more and more focused on the air, and whenever I was following her, she was in her favorite place. Meaning, I had to follow her until we reached the higher point of a cliff. During summer that same place, far further below, was a common place for people to jump off falling directly into the water. It was one of the things that everyone in La Push had done at least once in their life, for teenagers though, most of the time, it was the high of the summer along with bonfire parties at the beach.
Sam and I had followed them at school, after it when they would go to their houses... It was starting to get really frustrating and actually very boring. At least for me. Watching a girl staring for hours into the air was not the best, and at the end of week one, I was starting to hope for trekking through the woods in the middle of winter to reach the cliff. At least that was far better than staying in one place for hours.
Now, there I stood, like always for the past week, outside the Black house hidden away in the trees. I was directly in front of Amelia's room so I could keep an eye on her easier. And honestly, she looked completely out of it. At that moment, I really hoped that I didn't look that crazy whenever I would do it too. My hopes were probably in vain though.
Her eyes traveled up to the sky, which fortunately for me today was not raining or snowing, it was only slightly clouded. She sat on the ledge of her window, arm outside feeling the bite of wind on her skin. Hours passed and still she didn't move from her position.
What I didn't expect, though, was for a car to park outside the Black's residence. From the driver's side, Maddison Swan exited her car, her brown hair was sweeped out of her face from the wind revealing the sight of her quivering lips and tear stained face.
Knocking on the front door, it was Billy Black that answered. The man had imposed a no-friends-over rule for the entire week, so Maddison shouldn't have been here. Even Jacob was passing most of his time at his friends' houses. Jared and Amelia were too near changing to have people close by that did not know, so even if she would beg Billy to wait for Jacob in his room until he would come back, I knew he wouldn't agree. And it was that moment of distraction, of me taking my focus off from Amelia for just a minute that almost cost me dearly.
When the wind started to pick up in an unnatural way, I snapped my head towards the girl's window. And she wasn't seated there anymore and I couldn't see her in her room. But I could feel her magic building up as the seconds ticked. An howl echoed through the forest alerting me. Jared was about to shift. There was no time left.
I ran directly to the front where Billy was still talking with desperate looking Maddison.
"It's time." I said to Billy walking past him to reach inside his house.
"Beatrice?" Maddison asked, confused at my presence and panic, sobered up enough to dry her tears with her hand.
"Mads it's better if you come back later. Or just head to Embry's, Jacob is there." I heard Billy say trying to get rid of the girl, but I couldn't let it distract me from the new unlocking witch that was bound to destroy the entire house if I was not able to bring her outside.
"Amelia!" I yelled as I passed the living room. She was kneeling on the ground of the hallway, hands wrapped around her knees rocking back and forth as the wind started to blow harder outside shattering one of the windows in the living room. "Amelia" I said, trying to make my voice reach her above the sound of the wind. I crouched in front of her, touching her arm sending sparkles like currents of electricity down both our arms.
She snapped her head towards me "What is happening to me?" she asked, terrified and confused.
"I will explain everything but we need to get you outside, alright?" I grabbed her, forcing her on her feet and not giving her a chance to reply as I dragged her outside.
In front of the entrance door, Billy was still trying to get rid of Maddison, but soon all forgot about her when Amelia let out a pained scream, her knee giving out making us both tumble down.
My eyes widened, knowing somewhat what was happening to her.
"Maddison, I need you to help me. Grab Amelia, we need to get her outside." Confusion was etched in the Swan girl soft features "Now!" I shouted as Maddison opened her mouth to probably ask what was going on. But we had no time to waste.
"Alright, alright." she said quickly helping me get the air witch upright as another scream tore from her throat. "What is happening to her?"
I didn't answer any of her questions as she helped me walk Amelia outside in her backyards. "Go, stay near Billy." I commanded,
"What about you?"
"It won't hurt me, don't worry. Now go." Fortunately, she followed my instructions and went to stand near the house next to where Billy was, anxiously biting his nails. The man as soon as the daughter of his best friend reached him, quickly grabbed her hand as he watched his daughter continuing to scream in pain.
"I can't- I can't breathe." Amelia stuttered, her hands grabbing her throat. Small tornadoes forming all around us.
"You need to let it out. Don't try to contain it or control it. It will only make it harder for you. More painful." I yelled over the sound of the spirals of uncontrollable air magic. "Let it out, Amelia!"
With a scream, Amelia released a gust of air from inside of her, successfully unlocking her element, before she passed out on the ground. The nature around us was in a complete mess. Trees were uprooted and branches split in halves that littered the soiled ground. But even if her magic had destroyed everything around us, I was left immaculate.
Fortunately Billy, Maddiosn and the house were too far away for the magic to hit it too.
And then, the fallen trees, with a sweep of air, were solid in the ground once again, the branches creating healthy green leaves that did not belong in the still too cold weather. The soil bloomed to fresh grass and birds flew towards the new magic restored part of the forest.
"She did it." I breathed out a sigh of relief "She did it." I looked at Billy and awe struck Maddison.
"What the hell happened?" The Swan girl asked, eyes wide as coins.
"I will explain everything but can you help me with her." I motioned towards the unconscious girl on the ground. Earning a quick nod from Maddison, who was still completely shocked, the both of us bought Amelia in the back seat of the Swan girl car. "Are you coming too?" I asked Billy.
"No, this is something you'll have to do. Us elders will come later on." he explained, his eyes not moving from his daughter "Take care of her."
"Will do." I nodded my head firmly before climbing in the back seat too and placed Amelia's head on my lap trying to make her as comfortable as possible as Maddison drove us towards my house.
โโโโโโ ๐๐๐๐ โโโโโโ
โฐโห ยท ยฐ . ย "Sam! Are you home?" I yelled as soon as I opened the front door.
Walking out from the living room, my brother, in only his jeans shorts, came. "He is here?" I asked, nodding towards the direction he came from.
"Yes. Amelia?" he asked
"In the car. We have an unexpected plus one too." I said sheepishly. Sam peaked his head outside noticing Maddison Swan.
"How?" He glared, a grumble rumbling in his chest.
"She was there to see Jacob, who fortunately wasn't home, but Billy couldn't get rid of her in time." I explained giving him a tight lipped smile.
"So she saw Amelia..."
"Creating tornadoes in the backyard of her house? Yes." I continued with sarcasm.
Massaging his temples with his hands, Sam rolled his eyes at me and proceeded to completely ignore me as he passed me to go outside and take the still unconscious girl from the car.
"Get in, Maddison." I shouted. She nodded her head and comply by following Sam with Amelia in his arms inside the house.
We walked into the living room, the Alpha of the pack placed the air witch gently on the couch. Jared Cameron, immediately stood as he watched the scene in front of him with wide eyes.
"What happened to her?" His eyebrows furrowed in concern.
"We will wait for her to wake up so we will just say everything once." I said, sending him a smile that resembled more grimace.
"What the hell is happening!" Jared exclaimed angrily. He looked between Sam, me, Maddison, Amelia and then back at his alpha with glaring eyes, shoulders shaking with his intense emotions.
"Calm down Jared. Anger triggers the shift." Sam said with hard eyes, a command in his voice.
"In the meantime that we wait for Amelia to wake up, I'm going to cook something. I'm sure that you will be hungry as a wolf." I winked cheeky at the Cameron boy who widened his eyes at my choice of words. "Guess mono caught you too after all."
"Beatrice!" Sam yelled as I escaped to the kitchen with a laugh, Maddison following after me.
โโโโโโ ๐๐๐๐ โโโโโโ
โฐโห ยท ยฐ . ย "You are much better than me at this." I said, eyeing Maddison Swan as she moved with ease in the kitchen as she cooked. Even with the little ingredients that we had, she definitely made something that I would've never thought of. And it actually seemed good by the look of it.
Maddison laughed, her cheeks staining with a pink flush "My father does not know much about cooking, or like at all. I really didn't want to eat diner's food everyday, so I learned. And I actually enjoy it."
"It's what you want to do in your life? Being a chef?" I asked as I setted the table for the five of us to eat.
Maddison checked in the oven the casserole dish that she had prepared before turning back to the vegetables she was cooking on the stove.
"I don't know, maybe? I never really thought about it actually." She said, stirring the vegetables with a wooden spoon "Are you sure that this will not be too much?"
I laughed out loud, head tilted back making my hair cascade down my shoulders. On my face there was a grin as I spoke "Trust me, it is not much. You'll see soon."
"Tris." Sam's voice echoed from the living room "She is waking up."
"It's almost ready here." Maddison said.
"Alright then, we will come here in a couple of minutes. Just the time for Amelia to completely wake up." I answered her before quickly speeding to the living room, where the Black girl was slowly sitting up.
"What happened? Where am I?" She asked, massaging her throat, probably sore from all the screaming.
"My house." I said taking a seat next to her "We are going to explain everything to you and Jared now." I told her, glancing at the new shifter too, before adding with a shrug: "Well and Maddison since she was there as well."
"The wind, the tornadoes..."
"Yes, it's real. Now come on, dinner it's ready." I said, now getting up and helping the new witch to her feet too.
"Thank god, I'm starving." Jared said with a sigh and a heavy look in his eyes.
The five of us sat at the kitchen table, the big casserole of pasta in the middle, with plenty of garlic bread and vegetables. We filled our plates in silence, Sam adding much more on Jared's plate than what he had filled his with.
"Trust me, that portion will not have even filled you in the slightest." The alpha said to his beta.
"So..." Maddison started "Want to tell us what happened?"
Sam nodded his head and commenced "As I already told Jared briefly before, the legends and myths of our tribe that are told to us as children are real. Do you know them?" He asked to the Swan girl.
"Yes." She nodded sheepishly. "Jacob told them to me but he said that they were just stories."
"We all thought that." I snorted, adding an eyeroll to it.
"Jared and I are what we call shapeshifters. When the cold ones, our natural enemies are near, the gene in our blood gets triggered making us shift to protect the tribe."
"Shifters? Really?" Amelia snarked
"Girl, you created tornadoes in your backyard, you might want to have an open mind about this." I said with an amused smirk twisted on my lips.
She clicked her tongue on the roof of her mouth, nodding her head. "Right. Sorry, continue."
"As the legends say, as the four men shift, four women unlock an element."
"The elemental women." Jared said, his head tilted slightly immersed in his own thoughts.
"That is us." I said "I first unlocked my element when Sam shifted, and now, as Jared did too, Amelia unblocked her own."
"Air." Amelia whispered, her eyes trailing to the window on her right.
"Yes, that is your element." I smiled at her.
"What is yours?" Maddison asked, making me smirk.
I snapped the fingers of my left hand, sparks flying around them before a flame started. "Fire." I said, eyeing my magic before dissolving it.
"Wow." Maddison exclaimed, eyes wide and focused on my fingers..
"It took me a lot of time to control it. And even now, I'm not completely in control of it. Heightened emotion can trigger our magic. Our powers can create destruction and harm people very easily." I said to the other witch present at the table.
"But you didn't get hurt." Maddison said. "When Amelia created all those tornados and half destroyed her backyard, you didn't get hurt."
"I destroyed my backyard?!" Amelia suddenly shouted, a harsher gust of wind creating outside at the burst of emotions .
"Our powers can not hurt one another or nature." I explained, placing a hand on her shoulder trying to calm her down, which actually helped. "Yes you did, but nature kinda takes the energy of our magic to restore itself. Your backyards have never been better, trust me."
"It didn't look like it was an easy process to unlock her element. Was it the same for you?" Maddison asked me, her eyes shining with curiosity.
"no, It hurts like a bitch." Amelia corrected with a pointed look.
"Yeah definitely" I laughed.
"Breaking every bone in your body to turn into a wolf it's not really easy too, you know." Jared commented with a scoff as he ate another slice of bread.
"I felt like the wind was cutting me everywhere and then I felt like there was no air left for me to breathe."
"I felt like I was being burned alive."
Both me and Amelia deadpanned at the boy, making the two males grimace at our straightforward answer.
"You know what? You win." Jared nodded his head and went back to eat.
I looked at Amelia before the both of us started to laugh, Maddison soon joining us.
A gust of wind out of nowhere passed through the room, making us all turn towards Amelia.
"Shit!" She exclaimed with a grimace as she shook her hands trying to get rid of the new feeling of her magic.
"Close your eyes, take a deep breath and call your magic back. Just follow your instinct. It's easier than forcing it to do what you want." I instructed her with a calm tone.
Closing her eyes, Amelia quickly followed my words. The wind ceasing as if it was never there to begin with
"Sorry" She said cringing slightly
"It's okay. It happens a lot in the beginning. There are actually my handprints burned on this table." I said lightly, trying to make her feel better.
"That was something." Jared commented
"You turned into a huge wolf and this was something?" I asked amused with a raised eyebrow.
"Uh, yes?" He said it more like a question.
"Alright, there are some things I'll have to tell Amelia alone. Sorry." I said while standing up from the chair "We cooked, you clean." I added while pointing at the dinner table. The two males were still eating the rest of the food.
"I have to go home anyway." Maddison said with a big smile. She handed me a piece of paper "This is my number, you can call me or text me if you need any help, even if it is just for food. Just let me know if I can help in some way."
I widened my eyes at the pure sincerity I could feel radiating from her. Apparently as Amelia unlocked her element, just as the grimoire said, my powers increased to not only my own element.
I gave her a sincere smile, "I will." I told her softly before opening the front door for her.
"Bye!" She explained before exiting the house. Her tears were completely forgotten.
"Well, she for sure is sweet as candy. How did I not notice her before?" Amelia smirked, her eyes following the girl with a predatory look.
"I'm pretty sure she is straight and in love with your brother." I commented with a snort knowing where her mind went.
Amelia rolled her eyes, standing up from the chair "So what is that you need to tell me?"
I gave her smirk before dragging her upstairs to my room.
I spent the following hours making her train her new found air power. Explaining to her about the other two girls, that hopefully will unlock their own elements soon. The Aether element. We read together the grimoire and journals. I told her about the initiation ritual for both the new pack member and the rituals to connect the witch to them, something that Sam and Jared had decided to do first thing in the morning. And lastly, we talked about outside things, our life in general. Talks that normal friends would do. And for the first time in what felt too long, a piece of myself settled in my soul, and I didn't feel so alone anymore.
โโโโโโ ๐๐๐๐ โโโโโโ
โฐโห ยท ยฐ . ย It was early morning when I woke, the sun was just starting to rise at the horizon tinting the sky in shades of blue, orange and pink between the still twinkling stars. In the bed, Amelia was still fast asleep, her soft snores the only thing that could've been heard other than light sound on the birds chirping outside.
I left the bed slowly, being careful to not wake the air witch. We had spent the majority of the night talking until it was the early hours of morning. I had probably just slept a couple of hours at best but something was calling to me from outside, tugging in my chest like an invisible rope.
I shoved on one of Sam's old hoodies before walking out of the bedroom following my instinct. They led me to the kitchen and then to the backyard where laying on the grass in only jean shorts, looking at the sun rising, Jared was.
I knew he had heard me with his new enhanced hearing, but he did not say a word as I layed down next to him still keeping the silence between us.
A crease had formed in his forehead, lips tugged into a scowl, and still, he said nothing.
"Did you get any sleep?" I asked softly enough to not break the peaceful feeling of the early hour of the sun.
"No." He said curtly, making us fall back into silence.
But I knew that he had a lot of things on his mind, he only needed the right moment and words to speak them. So I waited until he was ready.
"I feel like I'm boiling. Why do I feel this hot, it's weird. And everything seemed tinted with red like I'm only one step away into turning into a wolf and destroying everything. I'm angry, I have been angry for the last weeks and I don't like it. I don't like it at all. I'm not meant to be angry. I don't want to be. I want to make sarcastic comments and jokes and I want to laugh again, but I'm always angry."
"The fact that you are a shifter does not mean that you will not be happy again. You just need time-"
"Time for what?" He snapped.
"Time to let your body adjust to your new self." I replied calmly trying to not anger him more. "You will laugh again, Jar. I swear."
With a scoff he turned his head towards me. I could see his eyes watering with tears. "And how would you know that? Do you even know how to laugh?"
"See that's progress. You just made fun of me" I winked at him turning my head towards him. At least the corner of his mouth had slightly lifted. But I was trying to tell him something so I quickly returned to being serious. "I know that you'll be the person that you want to be once again. The one who can't stay silent for more than a minute, the one who spills bullshit at every second, the one who makes stupid jokes that actually makes me want to laugh." I intertwined my hand with his, his shoulder loosening a bit of the tension that was in them as a tear fell from his eyes traveling down to his cheek. "And even if I know that you will never let me live this down..." I said sweeping with my thumb the lonely tear "I'm your best friend. I'll make sure that it will happen."
His lips titles into a grin, the first that I had seen him do in days. "I knew that one way or another I was going to let you admit it."
"Don't let it get inside your head, Cameron. I said that I'm your best friend not that you are mine. But I can understand, I'm awesome, who wouldn't like to have me as a best friend."
"And humble, you forgot to add humble." He snorted "Same thing anyways. You just admitted that we are best friends, there is no going back now."
"I could kill you and burn your corpse to ashes so that no evidence could be found."
"You wouldn't do it." He gasped dramatically, placing his free hand on his chest. I really couldn't, actually. My powers could only hurt a shifter of our pack in a superficial way, but he did not know that. "You are the worst best friend ever."
"Take it or leave it." I shrugged my shoulders in an unbothered way fighting the smile that threatened to form on my lips.
Rolling his eyes, Jared moved his gaze towards the sky once again making me do the same. But he squeezed my hand harder almost as if afraid I would let go of our intertwined fingers.
"Thank you." He whispered. His words were almost lost with the light chilled breeze present.
"No need to thank me. That we want it or not, now we are all connected. You are not going to get rid of me that easily." I said. For the first time, I opened myself, my emotion, to someone who was not my brother.
"Only when you decide that you much prefer to kill me." He jokes with a serious tone, but his grin never faltered.
"Exactly."

Hello everyone!
Number of shifter: 2
Number of witches: 2
The coven and the pack are growing, even if at a slower pace.
Amelia is of course my oc, she is Jacob's twin sister. She has a very strong personality and couldn't care less about what people think of her. She is very comfortable in her sexuality. She is lesbian, and she mostly does not do serious relationships.
And finally, our girl Beatrice admitted to Jared that they are best friends. I really want them to be the best brotp.
Btw you'll see a lot more of Jared, Amelia and Maddison from now on. I'm excited for you all to see the dynamics.
This fiction is mostly based on the found family troup. (One of my favorites to read) So I really hope that you'll like how this story will evolve.
Another thing, let me know who you think the next witch will be, I'm curious about your ideas.
Anyways, thank you for reading this chapter, I'll see you on Thursday!
