❝Bad people sometimes turn out good by doing wrong❞
•
"So tell me about the guy you ran into last night." Caroline grinned at me and I rolled my eyes as we cautiously place mouse traps on the ground.
"There's nothing to tell. All I know is that his name is Dylan." I sighed, glancing over at Tyler who was clearly uncomfortable with this topic.
"Does he go to our school or did he looked like a college frat boy?" She pestered me. Why did she care so much?
"I don't know, Caroline. I was in a hurry to meet my mom to get a good look at him." Part of me was lying; I really didn't focus on close details, but I realized how great his bone structure was and how the corners of his eyes crinkled when he talked, and how his moles were very evident within his features..
Oh god, I need to stop!
"You should hook up with him. It looks like you're on sex withdrawal." She shrugged and I gasped at her, my cheeks tinted a light shade of pink. I feel Tyler's stare, but I brush it off, focusing on what Caroline said.
"Why does everything have to be sexual with you? It's not like you've been having sex either." I seethed, but groan silently when Tyler and Caroline share a stare. The stare we used to give each other.
"I'm just trying to say what's best for you."
"Well, sex isn't always the answer to everything and I barely know him. He could be some creep. Or worse, a vampire." I shot back and she gaped at me.
"Yeah, we all know you've had your share with those." Caroline retorted. I clenched my jaw and Elena rubbed my back softly. When Caroline saw I didn't respond she quickly spoke up, "I didn't mean it like that."
"Yeah, sure." I muttered, "I'm going to help the people in the gym." I carefully walked to the door, closing quietly behind me. I looked down at my bawled up fist and open it, seeing crescent moons imprinted in my palm.
I sighed and place my hands in my pocket, slowly walking to the gym. Okay, so if you can't tell already, I suck at relationships. My past relationships would always end up with them trying to kill me or my friends having to kill him. I hate bringing it up, but Caroline didn't get the memo.
Tonight, we are doing prank night. Caroline wants us to be 'remembered' and apparently this is the only way how. I'm never big on pranks, but I just want things to be normal again. At least a little.
I sling my bag over my shoulder as I walked through the double doors. I hated how quiet school was after hours. The breeze throughout the halls was cold and damp, making me feel get strange feeling, like something bad was going to happen. Like death will be caused.
I walked towards the gym, only to hear a clashing noise of lockers behind me. My head spins in that direction only to see no one was there.
"Haha, very funny." I said, rolling my eyes. I turn back around only to be knocked down by some strong figure.
"Hello, sweetheart." You got to be kidding me! I look at the person and see someone I knew I would see again. "Did I scare you?"
"Klaus." My eyes widen as I realized that he's here. In the school, which Elena is in, not far away.
"Need help?" He held his hand out to me and I rudely smack it away, standing up on my own. "Just trying to be kind."
"Oh, really? I didn't think you knew that word existed." I shot back. "What are you doing here?"
"Nothing that should concern you." He smirked at me and I glared before hearing a bunch of snapping. The mouse traps. "What are you doing here after hours?"
"Nothing that should concern you." I mimicked and he chuckled.
"You're very feisty." He told me and I scoffed. "It's weird how you're not afraid of me."
"Because you don't scare me." I cross my arm over my chest, brushing past him, but he gripped my arm.
"You should leave."
"And why would I listen to you?" I raised an eyebrows at him and he shook his head slightly.
"Because I don't want my first impression on you to be what your about to see." He said, a small smirk on his face.
"Well, lucky for you then since you don't impress me." I yank my arm from him, about to walk away but I hear the doors open and I see Elena run into Klaus.
"There's my girl."
"Elena run." I said, dropping my bag beside me. She glances my way before running away like I asked. Only she was too late, since Klaus caught up to her.
"You were supposed to be dead. What are we going to do about that?" He quickly gripped both of our arms, dragging us towards the gym. "You should have listened." He whispered to me. I just rolled my eyes, clenching my jaw as he roughly pulled us down the hall. "You put a rather large kink in my plans, sweetheart. The whole point of breaking the curse and becoming a hybrid was to make more hybrids. I haven't been able to do that. Now my bet is, it has to do with the fact that you're still breathing."
"If you're going to kill me, just do it." She said and I shoot her a look. I know she's Stefan deprived, but this isn't Twilight.
"Not until I know I'm right. But I do have ways of making you suffer." He said before bursting through the gym doors, "Attention seniors. You have officially been busted. Prank night is over. Head on home." He said using an American accent. Everyone did as he said and began to leave. "You. I remember you." He said pointing to the boy in front of us.
"I'm sorry who are you?" The boy asked and Klaus shrugged.
"I wasn't in my right head last time we met." He said.
"Ha, you got that right." I muttered and he turned to me. He dropped Elena's hand, but held tightly onto me.
"No hard feelings?" He said, before tearing off my bracelet that protected me and tossing it in the far corner of the gym. He lifts up my chin forcing me to look at him, "Lift up your foot, please, Rowan." I try to fight the urge, but I lift up my foot involuntary. "If she drops her foot, Chad, I want you to beat her to death. Understood?" Elena's eyes widen and so did mine.
"Don't Klaus. You don't have to hurt anybody." Elena tried to convince, but he smirked.
"Oh, come on, love. Of course I do." He smiled.

"Keep it up." He warned me and I shoot him a glare. My foot was killing me and I felt like I was going to tip over.
"Don't you dare speak to me." I snapped, trying to balance my foot up.
"Where's Stefan? What did you do to him?" Elena spoke and I can hear her worry laced in it.
"Stefan's on a time out." He said simply before the gym doors open and Bonnie and Matt come in.
"Guys, get out of here." I warned, but I'm too late as Klaus goes up to Bonnie.
"Ah, I was wondering when you'd show up. Now we can get started." He looked at me, small smile etched on his face. "Ah, sweetheart, why don't you relax? You and Chad sit tight." I've never been happier. Chad helped me sit down on the ground. "I assume you're the reason Elena's still walking around alive?"
"That's right. If you want to blame someone, blame me." Bonnie responded.
"Oh, there's no need for blame, love. Just your witchy interference seems to have caused some undesirable side effects. And since you caused the problem, I'm going to have you find the fix." He said and as if right on cue, a blonde woman comes in dragging Tyler.
"Get off of me!" He yelled. Instantly I stood up, about to attack the girl that has a tight grip on him.
"Hush now." She said to him.
"I'd like you all to meet my sister, Rebekah. Word of warning; she can be quite mean."
"Don't be an ass." The girl- Rebekah glares!
"So she's you, but with slight more anger issues?" I shot back and receive a glare from them both. She pushed Tyler to Klaus and he gripped Tyler by the back of his neck. "Leave him the hell alone, Klaus."
"I'm going to make this very simple," He said ignoring my plea, "Every time I attempt to turn a werewolf in to a vampire hybrid, they die during the transition. Its quite horrible actually." He said, biting into his wrist and shoving it into Tyler's mouth, making him drink it. Suddenly the sharp pain in my head comes back and the taste of iron touches my tongue but I shake it off as I see Tyler struggling from Klaus.
"I need you to find a way to save my hybrids, Bonnie. And for Tyler's sake, you better hurry." In a blink of an eye, Klaus snaps Tyler's neck. Tyler drops to the ground and I run toward him. I didn't care about the people around me right now. Just Tyler.
My chest burns my insides as my entire body aches. God, what's wrong with me?
"What a great first impression by the way." I said lowly, putting my hands on either side of Tyler's face, wiping Klaus's blood off with my thumb.
"I had warned you before all of this. You chose friends over your own safety." He said.
"I always do." I muttered. "I always will."
"He killed him?" Matt asked.
"No. Klaus's blood just turned him into a vampire." I sighed, caressing Tyler's face. I knew I felt it. I knew I felt like someone was going to die. But how did I know?
"And if Bonnie's successful he'll live through his transition." He said, "Go on then. Go and fetch your grimoires, and enchantments and whatnot. I'll hold on to Elena for safekeeping." He said. "And take Rowan with you." I shot my head up at him and shook my head.
"No, I'm staying with Tyler." I protestsd, no emotion in my voice. He just huffed at me, annoyed already.
"Bonnie." He called and soon she came my way, taking me away from Tyler. "It's for your own good, sweetheart. No offense."
"Come on, Ro." She muttered. I glance at Elena and she nodded before I look at Tyler who was still lying there. "Come on." I give in and follow her and Matt, looking back at Elena.
"What are you going to do?" I asked as we sped down the hall.
"I have no idea. The curse he's talking about is a thousand years old. My grimoires don't go back that far." She answered.
"Can you ask those dead witches that helped you before?" Matt questioned.
"I don't have contact with then anymore. They cut me off when I brought Jeremy back back to life-"
"That's it! If you can't contact the dead, Jeremy can." I smiled and Bonnie nodded.

"I thought I told you to leave." Klaus growled at me.
"And I thought I told you I wasn't afraid of you." I snapped, walking to Elena and Chad who sat on the ground. I crouched down and held her face in my hands, "Are you okay?" She nodded and Klaus chuckled at my response.
"What? You thought I harmed your little friend?" Klaus said and I could sense that he was smirking all the way over by the bleachers. I continued to look at Elena, rubbing her shoulder.
"No, I thought you were being a huge dick and tried to harm my friend." I corrected. The doors soon open and Stefan walks through.
"Stefan…" Elena trailed off, standing up. I stood too, beside Elena though. Stefan looked our way, but turned to Klaus.
"Klaus."
"Come to save you damsel, mate?" Klaus asked him.
"I came to ask for your forgiveness." Stefan sighed and Elena was shaking her head in disbelief. "And pledge my loyalty."
"Well, you broke that pledge once already." Klaus stated, glancing at Elena.
"Elena means nothing to me anymore." Stefan said and I looked at Elena who held back tears. "And whatever you ask of me… I will do." Klaus came down from the bleachers and came towards us, making me hold Elena closely.
"Fair enough. Let's drink on it. Kill them." Klaus said, pointing to Chad and me. Stefan stood still and Klaus looked back at them. "What are you waiting for? Kill them." He had a devilish smirk across his face, which I now currently hate.
"No! Stefan, don't. He's not going to hurt me. He already said-" Before Elena could say more Klaus hits hard, making her fall to the floor and Stefan rushing over to him, trying to attack him, but fails as Klaus grips his throat.
"She means nothing to you? Your lies keep piling up." Klaus said, anger in his eyes. I quickly run to Elena, engulfing her in a hug.
"Let her go! I'll do whatever you want, you have my word." Stefan grunted as Klaus's grip got tighter.
"Your word doesn't mean much. I lived by your word all summer, during which time I never had to resort to this…" He forces Stefan to look him in the eyes, "Stop fighting."
"Don't do this. Don't do this." Stefan begged as Klaus compelled him.
"I don't want to. All I wanted was your allegiance. Now I'm going to have to take it." Stefan pleaded some more, but Klaus ignored him, "You will do exactly as I say when I say it. You will not run, you will not hide, you will simply just obey."
"No, Stefan." Elena whispered, whimpering in my hug.
"Now feed on her and kill him." Stefan's eyes changed as he looked at me and before I even got a chance to blink, he came towards me and soon enough, everything turned dark.

A loud buzzer went off and I slowly open my eyes. Stefan stood across from Elena, trying to fight the urge to do something.
"Stefan… I love you. Fight, Stefan. Don't give up." Elena encouraged.
"I can't hold it." He grunted before rushing over her. She screamed loudly, but when she turned he was holding onto the wall. "Elena, run! Go!" And with that, she runs out the gym.
Stefan was trying to hold himself back he didn't hurt Elena. But when he couldn't hold it anymore, he ran off too. I look around me and see Chad on the floor, dead. Klaus wasn't here, so I rolled over on my back, holding the side of my neck. I dig in my pocket and dialed Bonnie's number.
"Hello?" She answered.
"Hey, Bonnie…" My voice sound dry and weak. "Where are you, right now?"
"I'm about to walk outside the school. Where are you?"
"I'm in the school gym, bleeding." I sighed.
"What the hell? What happened?"
"Save it for another rainy day. Right now, I need you to come get me." I gritted through my teeth as I removed my hand from my neck. I was still bleeding, but not as bad like he cut through my artery.
"Um, okay. Stay there. I'll be there in five minutes." She said and I hung up. I slowly laid down my phone and closed my eyes, tired. I feel like could barely stand, let alone hold my up my arm.
The doors opens and I hear sneakers skidding across the gym floor. "Rowan!" Bonnie yells and I open my eyes, seeing Matt and her standing over me.
"Help me up." I muttered and they carefully helped me stand upright. "I'm okay. I just want to go home. Take me home." They nodded and wrapped my arms over their shoulders, leading me out to Matt's truck.
When we make it to my house, I was very grateful that my mom's car wasn't in the driveway. She couldn't see me like this.
I get out the car and walked slowly up to my door, Bonnie following behind me. She helped me get out my key, unlocking the door. "I'm okay." I said. She looked at me with a strange look, before nodding. I walk inside my house and she walks back to Matt's car before I close the door and lock it.
I went up to my bathroom and take out the first-aid kit and a bottle of Advil. I clean my neck and bandaged it before taking the Advil and going to my room. I changed into my pajamas and go downstairs to quickly throw my bloody clothes in the washing machine.
Afterwards the doorbell rang. I went towards it and opened the door, seeing Klaus standing there. "What the hell do you want? Want to compel me again? Force someone to attack me?" I glared, my voice scratchy. Klaus walked up to the doorframe and it took everything in me not to hit him or run from him.
"You really aren't afraid of me." Klaus laughed slightly.
"Yeah, I'm not. I hate you actually, especially since you basically caused destruction to all my friends in one night." I cross my arms over my chest.
"I call that a world record." He snickered. I gave no emotion, so he stopped. He just looked at my neck, staring intently. I shifted uncomfortably under his gaze, so he looked me in my eyes and bit his wrist. "Here. It'll heal you."
"I know what it does, idiot." I scoffed. "I rather let Stefan kill me than drink from you. You did all these terrible things to my friends today, including me, and you think if you offer your blood that I'll immediately forgive you? How shallow and cocky can you be?"
"Okay, I'll take that as a no, then." He muttered, and dug in his pocket. "Then here." He held out his hand and showed my bracelet. I snatch it from him and stare at him straight in his eyes.
"Leave me alone now."
"Doubt I can do that." He smirked, "You'll see me soon though." And with that he was gone. I let out a shaky breath and look down at my bracelet, putting it on me.
I was never going to get a break, was I?
