4.Her Enthralling Perfume
Min Yoongi's POV
"Yoongi, allow me to explain. My grandma said that according to Chinese traditions, throwing Mandarin into the river will help us in getting a boyfriend, and it is usually done during the New Year."
She made it clear to me, yet what if she was lying?
"Look there!" she shouted and made me turn around to look at two girls throwing mandarins into the river.
So, she was telling the truth.
"Then I hope you get a boyfriend, and I know he's going to be fortunate," I replied, accentuating the last word.
"You wanted to say unlucky instead of fortunate, right?" she scowled at me.
"Yeah, you caught that right."
"I can't argue with you." She cocked her head, pressing her lips together, as we both again sat on the wooden bench.
"Yoongi, grandma texted me, this chick belongs to our neighbor, Mrs. Bai Xi Meng. She bought it for her mother, who lives in the countryside. Grandma asked us to look after it until she could come get it."
"It might have gotten lost, and don't toss this one," I offered another Mandarin to her. She looked at me with her eyes bulging. She got it from me, peeled it, and devoured it with a smile on her face.
"I thought you wouldn't give me. Even though sometimes you exasperate me by the way you speak, you are not that bad," she said, gobbling the fruit.
"I'm not that bad, and let's feed the chick if you are done eating," I asked while grinning at her. We asked the owner of the fruit shop for assistance because we weren't sure what it would eat. He recommended that we feed it various fruits, seeds, lettuce, cooked pumpkin, and squash. We opted to feed it some fruit, as we are unable to cook at the moment. After opening the bag, she pulled out some watermelons and chopped apples.
After eating the fruits, the chick fell asleep. Its body lifted and fell with its breathing and covered its feet with tiny feathers making it endearing to watch.
The sky turned black, and the long road ahead, which stretched along the river, was elucidated by the stars hanging down from the sky like tiny bulbs. People walked along the river, enjoying the scenery.
I was astonished at how fast the time had passed and that night had arrived. Soo Ah showed me around the place with an exuberant smile as she pulled my hand, dragging me around the market. I couldn't resist as I followed her.
She halted her steps when she saw a group of boys skateboarding. They looked professional as they balanced themselves on the small board mounted on wheels, and they performed some street-style tricks riding on the stairs and rails.
"Yoongi, they look cool." She clapped her hands, enjoying it. I smiled unknowingly, glancing at her.
I felt relaxed after a long time, as I never had time to enjoy myself because of work, or, I would say, I did not intend to, as I preferred being alone. Hoseok convinced me a lot about this vacation because he knew that I don't hang out much and he wanted me to be happy.
We were welcomed by Hoseok as we entered the house. "You both arrived. What's in the basket?" He asked and hugged me tightly. I understood he felt bad for leaving me alone.
"We went out to buy some groceries," and Soo Ah narrated the whole story about the little chick.
"Yoongi, I hope she did not trouble you."
"I'm not sure of her troubling me, but can you stop hugging me,"
"Hoseok, don't you want dinner tonight?" she yelled, glaring at us.
"Don't be angry, let's have a drink today."
I went to my room to feed Hazel. When I came down, I found the table filled with food and beers.
"When did you cook all these?" I asked, as I was surprised.
"Hoseok ordered," Soo Ah said, chugging down the beer.
"Drink slowly, don't you know that you have a low alcohol tolerance?" Hoseok reminded her.
We all chatted heartily, drowning ourselves in drinking. I found myself between Hoseok and Soo Ah as they were trampling me.
"Yoongiii, you are the best partner, and I appreciate you for handling Mr.Yoon's inheritance case well." Hoseok blabbered and fell to the ground as he curled up into a ball.
I turned up to find Soo Ah side hugging me. She looked at me with a pout as she began bursting into tears, catching a glimpse of her phone.
"I hate him... He broke up with me three months ago, but now he's in a relationship. I'm mad at him because he said he got tired of me, and I don't work hard for my career. How can he say that?" She shouted and took the glass, her hand quivered as she dribbled the beer on my shirt.
"Yoongi," she called out my name as tears dropped from her eyes. "He doesn't deserve me. You know... I worked hard to become a certified public accountant and got the job because of my ability, unlike his new girlfriend, who got a job using a connection," she said with a flushed face.
"He doesn't deserve you, so stop crying." I tried to comfort her, but a minute later, I realized she was smiling.
Placing her index finger on my nose, she whispered in a low tone, "You look cute." She giggled and leaned in closer to me as I briefly felt her lips on my cheek. Abruptly, she straightened up and rested her head on my shoulder.
Soo Ah's warm breath tickled my neck. Her perfume enthralled me, and her smell filled my breathing to the point of intoxication. I felt too weak to push her. I was lightheaded from drinking a lot and not being able to comprehend what was happening. My eyes drooped too close, blurring my vision.
I woke up the next day with a splitting headache. "Where is the chick?" Hoseok, who was massaging his head, questioned.
"Where is the chick?" Soo Ah reiterated what Hoseok had said.
"Are you not sober yet? Why are you repeating his words?" I asked her. She paced over to me and held my face between her hands.
"What's that mark on your cheek, your shirt, and where did the chick go?" she yanked her hair in a haze.
I'm sorry for the delayed update.
I did not want to miss it, despite my hectic schedules, I finally saw Yoongi's August D tour, D-Day the movie. I managed to take some pictures of him. Yoongi's rap and appearance on stage were visually stunning. I could not help but cry when I saw the way he was staring at the armies on the last day of his tour in Seoul. It was another unforgettable day. Have any of you seen it?
I redrafted the chapter many times as I was not satisfied. Was it good, do share your thoughts. Thank you.
Take care of yourself ❣️
