Chapter 3 [Musou No Hitotachi]
Tomo felt confused and anxious mostly. It was unexpected to see you join him on this hectic battlefield. Your inability to concentrate caused a soldier to seize you, severely injuring your leg in the process.
The soldier didn't mean to, but because of the way you kept squirming around, he did. You cried out in agony as the pain grew greater and worse. Tomo drastically lost the duel after becoming sidetracked.
You managed to crawl away despite knowing it wouldn't help you at all in order to escape the soldier's hands.
While hiding behind a modest cobblestone wall, you examined your hurt leg. It was already difficult to lift your pants; you couldn't even begin to comprehend how much worse it could get. Since you were still hidden behind the cobblestone wall, thankfully the big wave of wind that suddenly passed by you bypassed you.
Even though it was small, it was sufficient to keep you secure... For a while. A dazzling purple light appeared along with this enormous wave of wind and vanished after a short while. Then there was silence. Nothing but the quiet wind flowing past you could be heard.
You
"... Tomo?..."
You mumbled while sniffling. Because of all the tears, you have a stuffy nose and seemed sad when you spoke. You cautiously peered around the edge of the cobblestone wall, feeling at ease because you couldn't see any soldiers.
.
.
.
However, you did witness Tomo's blade strike the ground and his body being pushed back, eventually slamming the ground. The Raiden Shogun herself performed the Musou No Hitotachi amid that enormous purple light and wave of wind that you just saw.
You
"Tomo...?"
Looking up, you could see Kujuo Sara standing next to the Raiden Shogun, who had a fierce expression on her face. You finally understood all that had happened at that point.
.
.
.
Tomo had fallen. As a result of his defeat in the duel, he was forced to confront the Musou No Hitotachi sword art.
You heard rapid footsteps behind you just as he hit the ground. You quickly turned around to see Kazuha freeze as he noticed Tomo lying on the ground. He didn't pay any attention to you; rather, it seemed as though he hadn't yet noticed you.
Kazuha
"No..."
You
"... Ka-"
Kazuha
"Tomo!"
Kazuha sank to the ground and practically slammed his knees into the hard surface. In disbelief, he hugged Tomo's lifeless body.
Kazuha
"Tomo no..."
Kazuha's uncontrollable sobbing could be heard as he hugged Tomo more tightly. The Raiden Shogun left with Kujuo Sara after finishing her duty. There were only the three of you remaining - More like two.
In Inazuma City, a place you really shouldn't be. In the end, both of you are wanted for "crimes".You had trouble even crawling as you got closer to Kazuha and Tomo.
You
"Kazuha... I'm-"
Kazuha suddenly released his hold on Tomo's body and reached out to violently grab your face.
Kazuha
"You were there! You were there- Why didn't you do anything?!"
You sobbed louder as you whimpered. Your face and leg hurt, and you winced. You didn't say anything. Couldn't say anything. All you did was cry.
Kazuha
"Well?! Come on! Say something, damn it!"
You
"I... I- I didn't..."
Kazuha
"What's that?! Speak up!"
Your heart sank at the prospect of Kazuha yelling at you; it was the worst feeling imaginable. You didn't even consider it, you believed that this would never happen.
Kazuha
"I can't believe you, Y/N."
He released your face with pressure, basically forcing it to turn to the side, giving your neck and jawline intense pain. He began to leave while holding Tomo's dying vision in his palm.
This wasn't at all like Kazuha, and you were convinced that everything was a nightmare from which you would soon awaken.
You
"No... No!... No- Kazuha!"
.
.
.
You
"Kazuha come back!"
With a scorching throat, you cried. Your head even hurt from screaming so loudly. Kazuha ignored you and carried on with his walk. You sobbed as you began to speak incoherently, and as you continued to speak while sobbing, your words began to break.
You
"Come back... Kazuha... Please..."
You would run after him if you could, but this broken leg of yours was seriously a huge pain in the ass. He was everything to you, you didn't want him to go. Really, he was the only person you had.
You covered your eyes with your hands as you bawled uncontrollably, the tears just wouldn't stop.
You instantly reacted and drew your sword as you felt a hand on your shoulder. You were enraged but mostly saddened. You couldn't manage the intensity of all these feelings. Kujuo Sara was aiming a bow at your head, thinking you were ready to harm the Raiden Shogun, who was the one who had put her hand on your shoulder.
Instructing Kujuo Sara to lay down her weapon, she knelt at your level.
Raiden Shogun
"Please, do not be afraid."
How could you not be terrified when you were sitting directly in front of the woman who executed one of your dearest friends?
The Raiden Shogun appeared to be interested in you. You were aware that you lacked the strength necessary for this battle, and now that Kazuha had left, she may well have you to herself.
You
"Don't hurt me..."
Raiden Shogun
"I won't hurt you, I promise... I would like you to join me."
Kujuo Sara
"Lady Shogun, are you insane?!-"
You
"No... You're a bad person."
Raiden Shogun
"I know but... I did what I had to do. That 'friend' of yours has disrespected and has gone against the Vision Hunt Decree, I had no choice. Whereas your other 'friend'... He isn't here, isn't that right?"
You
"He'll... He'll come back."
As you spoke, your hands were used to dry your tears. Just being in the Raiden Shogun's presence suddenly made your breathing easier.
Raiden Shogun
"Are you sure?... He just yelled at you, he's mad. I don't think he'll be coming back any time soon. You have nowhere to go."
You
"Are you saying... You'll take care of me?..."
Raiden Shogun
"Yes. I'm interested in you, of course, I'll provide you with everything you need."
Kujuo Sara rolled her eyes and scoffed while shaking her head.
Raiden Shogun
"Sara."
Kujuo Sara
"This is ridiculous."
She mumbled.
Kazuha was no longer in your line of sight as you turned to check behind you. Even though you had hated this side your entire life, you knew it was terrible to join them, but you had nowhere else to go.
The Raiden Shogun offered you some sort of comfort and Kazuha had truly left you. The more you think about it, the nicer and calmer her expression seemed compared to the last time you saw her. You realized that this wasn't the Raiden Shogun but rather a different person.
After all, this is the Raiden Shogun, Ei. For anyone, getting training from her is a gift. You gave her a slight nod as you turned to face her. Ei assisted you in standing up while sporting a slight grin.
Ei
"First, we should really get your leg checked out, right?"
You
"Mhm..."
Ei
"Sara, prepare a hot bath for them. They really need it."
Kujuo Sara
*Sigh*
