Kazuha noticed you weren't sleeping next to him as you normally did and woke up in the middle of the night. He saw you sitting on the beach near the sea, hugging your legs, as he peeked out of the tent.

"Hey, Y/N... What are you doing out here? It's late."

You

"I can't sleep."

Kazuha

"Why's that?"

You

"I don't like Tomo's plan."

Kazuha

"Oh... Uhm... Are you talking about his plan of challenging Kujuo Sara to a duel because of the Vision Hunt Decree?..."

You

"Yes. It's dangerous."

Kazuha

"Yeah- Sure it's dangerous but Tomo's strong."

You

"But is he strong enough to go up against a big army like Kujuo Sara's?"

Kazuha

"Well..."

Kazuha was sitting next to you in the sand. You turned your head in his direction.

You

"... What?"

Kazuha

"I don't know about that."

You

"I'm worried."

Kazuha

"I know, I know."

You

"... Where's Tomo?"

Kazuha

"Training."

You

"But it's late."

Kazuha

"I know. But if he's going to defeat a whole army, he has to train hard. I told him to rest tonight, he didn't listen of course."

He chuckled.

"We should join Tomo."

Kazuha

"For the duel. We fight, then win."

You continuously stared at Kazuha as he glanced at you, then looked away.

"Alright then. I'll ask him if we could join."

After you turned away from him, you felt water droplets on your skin. You felt more and more water drops land on your face as you gazed up.

Kazuha

"Ah... It's raining. Come on, let's go back to bed."

You

"Okay."

Kazuha helped you in standing up, and you both started to head back toward the tent after holding hands. Kazuha went back to his bed as soon as you arrived and instantly dozed off. He was visibly tired.

While sitting with your legs crossed and your eyes fixed on nothing, you, on the other hand, were still unable to fall asleep with the thunder keeping you awake.

You took a couple of quick glances around the tent before focusing on Kazuha. As you watched Kazuha fall asleep, you shifted position in your sleeping bag and laid on your side, facing him. As you turned to face the tent's roof, you sighed and did so.

But you just couldn't sleep. Too much thunder was being heard.

You twisted and turned, but nothing was helpful. You gave Kazuha one more glance before getting out of your sleeping bag and neatly folded it. You realized that Kazuha's sleeping bag was actually rather spacious.

Without a second thought, you removed Kazuha's blanket, laid down next to him, and then quickly put it back on since you were at a loss for what else may put you to sleep. As soon as you were comfortable, you wrapped Kazuha's waist with your arms.

You were practically hiding under the covers while attempting to drown out the thunder's deafening rumble.

Kazuha

"... Hm?... Y/N?..."

With your head resting on Kazuha's chest, you were still awake and enjoying his gentle touch.

Kazuha gently shook you to see if you were awake while he was still sleepy-eyed.

You murmured something that sounded like whining a little. It was muffled though, as you were still hiding in the covers.

"Oh..."

Kazuha slowly hugged you closer to him and toyed with your hair softly. Even though the thunder was still loud as shit, his gentle touch immediately lulled you to sleep. Being close to Kazuha was truly the only thing you ever needed, and you felt all warm and cozy.

The lengthy period of no physical interaction was truly wearing on you, and you were finally able to savour this time with Kazuha... Before disaster.

"Y/N! Kazuha! Wake up!"

Kazuha

"Huh?!"

"What..."

Kazuha immediately stood up and pulled you with him. You rubbed your eyes in confusion. In shock, Kazuha continued to hug you close to him, tightly too.

Tomo

"We have to go!"

Tomo forcefully dragged you and Kazuha out of the tent after seizing you both. With Tomo shouting all over the place, you were puzzled, frightened, and yet drowsy. You grabbed Kazuha's arm firmly as you reached out to him.

"What's happening..."

Kazuha

"They're here- So I need you to run as fast as you can, okay?"

"Who?-"

"The Vision Hunt Decree Soldiers."

"... They're... They're here?..."

You were still tired.

Kazuha

"Yes- Now we're going to run, okay?"

A group of men dressed in purple running your way caught your attention as you glanced back and nodded. They've remained the same throughout.

A soldier tried to grab you as the three of you were running since they believed you were the weakest of the group, but they were unsuccessful. Kazuha had raised his sword, cutting the soldier across the face. Tomo then grabbed your hand and set off running.

"Wait!"

Tomo

"Don't worry, Kazuha can handle them!... We're going to set things right in Inazuma City."

Tomo's point was clear to you right away. Running at Tomo's speed was tough; it was exhausting. Your heart sunk simply thinking about how much you were fretting about Kazuha.

Listening to Tomo tell Kujuo Sara that he wants to challenge her to a battle made everything seem a little muted. Even though you were certain you were prepared for this, you suddenly lacked confidence as you stood in front of The Raiden Shogun's right-hand man.

Along with Kujuo Sara, a large force of soldiers from the Vision Hunt Decree were also gathered. You started holding your chest and found it extremely difficult to breathe; you were literally breaking down next to Tomo right then and there.

Despite the fact that your head was turned downward, you could feel Sara staring at you. Sweat dripped from your forehead.

"... Y/N?"

Your hand was still on your chest, but you lifted it to look at Tomo. He noticed your rapid breathing and the fact that you seemed extremely sick.

Tomo

"Listen, Y/N."

He grinned at you while placing both of his hands on your shoulders.

You

*Gulp* "Huh?..."

Tomo

"You don't have to join me in this duel if you don't want to. I don't want you having a straight-up panic attack when we're in battle."

You

"I... But I need to help you..."

Tomo

"It's okay. Y/N, learn to take care of yourself."

You gave a nod before moving backward.

When you began to retreat, Kujuo Sara and her troops immediately pursued Tomo. You loathed this so much and felt ashamed of your disgusting cowardice. When you told Kazuha that you would support Tomo in this combat while ultimately backing out, you felt so awful.

You recklessly made your way back and carried out your predetermined course of action.
