❝Let's get this shit show on the road finally❞
•
The sun shined every so brightly through my curtains and into the room, which made me groan. I rub my eyes tiredly and opened them to see that I was in Damon's room. I furrowed my brows and went to sit up until a sharp pain shot up my spine, which made me wince and lay back down. Did I make it back home? Am I back?
"Good, you're up." Kai's voice rang through the room and I instantly turn to see him walking in from the bathroom.
"What the hell?" I croak, watching him stand at the end of the bed with a bottle of pills and a glass of water, "What happened?"
"Bonnie threw you into a wall." He simply told me and walked over to my side of the bed. He put down the glass of water, opened the bottle and took out two pills, "Here, take these. It's aspirin."
He held them out to me, but I sat up regardless of my pain, and shoved his hand away from my face. I started to remember last night and how Bonnie saved my life and how Damon got sent back home before I passed out.
"You tried to shoot me with an arrow." I growl and I grimace at my soreness as I stood from the bed and walked over to the bathroom, "Where's Bonnie?"
"Laying down on the couch," He told me, "After hauling you up here, I got tired and left her there." I turned on the faucet and cupped my hands to splash my face with water. When I look up from the sink, I see Kai now behind me with a towel in his hands, "Here."
I roll my eyes and snatch the towel from his hands to dry my face, but I walk away from him to go downstairs to check on Bonnie. His footsteps follow close behind me as I see her, unconscious and holding over her wound. I go up to her and move the hair out of her eyes, but glance back at Kai to see him fiddling with things.
"What are you doing?"
"Trying to get us back home, want to help?" He questioned but I look at Bonnie, using the towel I had to press down on her wound, but at that action, she groaned herself awake. "Oh, look who's awake."
She slowly sat up and met my eyes, "Hey, how do you feel?"
"Like he shot me with an arrow." Bonnie grunted and looked in Kai's direction.
"Anyhoo.." Kai continued, disregarding her statement, "I have no idea how you managed to shatter the ascendant into a billion pieces, but we need to put it together before the eclipse at 12:28. You want to help? I know you're a puzzle person."
Bonnie glared at him as she slowly stood with my head, "I don't want to help. You're a psychopath. This place is your prison. I'm not letting you out. Besides, you'll just kill us the minute we get out."
Kai presses his lips into a thin line, "You've been through a trauma. Your memory's probably a little fuzzy right now, so you might be thinking that your magic will protect you," He says as he walks toward us, "But all I have to do is hold your hand, and your magic suddenly becomes mine..."
He goes to reach for Bonnie, but I stand in front of her and meet his glare, "No."
"What?" He asked as if he didn't hear me.
I cross my arms over my chest, holding my ground, "Just because Damon isn't here and Bonnie is too weak to snap your neck, doesn't mean you're going to abuse us like we're your puppets."
He smirked at me longingly, but suddenly gripped my shoulders. It felt like my strength- or some part of me was being torn from my body which felt excruciating and made me feel sympathetic towards Bonnie. "What were you saying?"
"Stop it, Kia!" Bonnie shouted as I cry out, "Leave her alone, alright?"
"Are you going to do the spell to finally get us home?" He asked her as my legs go weak beneath me, but I was still held up in his hands.
"I will, okay? Just let her go." She agreed and he let me go, having me collapse over the end table. My forehead rests on the cold table as I tried to catch my breath, but I felt something poke my side. I lift my body slightly to grab the object and notice that it was a pen.
I take it in my grasp before slowly standing as he clapped his hands, "You see, was that so hard? Now let's get this show on the-"
Before he could finish his sentence, I jam the pen I had into his neck and meet his eyes again, but I saw that he was surprised by my actions as he fell to the ground.
"Ro, let's go." Bonnie told me and grabbed my hand, but I stop her.
"The ascendant." I tell her before grabbing a bag and shoving the ascendant pieces inside. I look down at Kai, watching him slowly bleed out. "He's only going to be down for a while, so let's go."
I hold out my hand and Bonnie takes it before we hurried out of the Salvatore house. "We need to go to the hospital before I bleed out." Bonnie told me and I nodded, noticing that Bonnie took Damon's car keys.
It took us less twenty minutes to get to the hospital, but once inside, we were already on the search for medication for Bonnie. Her wound was probably taken care of and since the wound was just made last night, she had no time to heal.
"What do you need?" I asked as I rummaged through the cabinets, "Ibuprofen? Tylenol? Horse tranquilizers?"
"Antibiotics."
"Okay, well that's kind of difficult seeing as every single one of these bottles have over twenty letters in them," I ranted, but then I saw Sulfamethoxazole, remembering when my sister had to take them when she got a yeast infection, "Found it."
"Good," She huffed as she picked up gauzes, but I turned to her when she was quiet for a moment. I give her a look and she holds out a bottle to me, "Painkillers."
"I guess they'll just have to substitute for the horse tranquilizers." I joked and she let out a light laugh before going over to a nearby desk and putting all the supplies on it. I help her open up the pill bottles and gauzes as she took off her bloodied bandage. She winced and I grimace at the wound, "This better work."
I hand her the open gauze and she thanks me before putting it on her abdomen. She whimpered, but met my eyes, "We need to go home."
"Already on it," I grab the bookbag that I had on my shoulders and dump it out in front of us, "How long do you think we have?"
She glanced back at the time and sighed, "An hour and 43 minutes, so hopefully...enough." I watch her pick up pieces of the ascendant figure out how to put it back together.
That time frame felt like three minutes to me as I helped her with the ascendant, but as she was finally able to hold to object in her hand without it breaking apart, I smiled, "Did we do it?"
"Yeah," She smiled back, "All we need is one more piece..." She looked around, but after a few seconds her smiled disappeared, "Where is it?" She takes the bag and digs inside, only to come up empty, "No, no, no."
"Bonnie, what?"
"Where's the last piece?" She asked me, "Didn't you grabbed all the pieces?"
"Yeah, I did," I assured her, but thinking of how we were in a rush, I was uncertain. I furrowed my brows, "Or at least I think I did."
She rubbed her forehead and groaned, "This isn't happening. This can't be happening."
"Okay, well maybe I can run back to the house and-" I cut myself off when the lights suddenly go out because I knew it wasn't just a power outage. It was Kai. "Bonnie, I think it's..." I pause when I see Bonnie walking off, "Bonnie, come back."
She ignored me as she kept walking out of the room and into the hallway, causing me to follow behind her, "Bonnie," I call her again, and walk in front of her, so she could listen to me, "Let's get out of here before he finds us."
"Before who finds you?" I hear behind me and I turn to see Kai. He smirked at us as I noticed a bandage on his neck where I stabbed him. I stand in front of Bonnie as he digs in his pocket and pulls out the last piece we needed for the ascendant, "Looking for this?"
"I see you woke up from your beauty sleep." I sarcastically remark, "How was it?"
"It would have been fine if I didn't have to clean up my own blood," He responds, a smirk still on his face as he eyed me, "You stole the ascendant, naughty girl." I feel Bonnie step back, so I do the same, "You weren't planning on using it and leaving me behind, were you?"
"Of course not," I answered him as I feel Bonnie grab my wrist.
"You left a trail of blood in the driveway, Bon Bon," He then looked past me and at her, "Figured where else would you play nurse?"
Without any warning, Bonnie stands in front of me and chants an incantation, having shelves surround him and a light burst behind him. I stand there with wide eyes, "Wow."
"Come on," She grabbed my hand and dragged me down the hallway, having me feel like my legs were moving faster than my feet as we ran outside of the hospital and to Damon's car.
"I'll drive." I insisted and hurry to the driver side, quick to put the keys in the ignition. Bonnie gets in on the passenger side, but furrowed her brows at me when she seen we weren't moving, "It won't start."
I twist the key continuously, only for the engine to fail on me again and again, "I'll go and see what's wrong with it." I nod at Bonnie's offer, watching her get out the car. I try to start the car again, but I'm startled when I get yanked back, my head hitting the seat as I feel a pair of hands wrap around me, trapping me against the seat.
I felt restrained and exhausted as I gasped for a ounce of air, looking into the rear view mirror to see Kai wickedly grinning at me, "Miss me, Sunshine?"
I gasp, no a single word able to pass my lips, "Uh-"
"What's that?" He wondered and I look out the window to see Bonnie outside the car, now noticing Kai, "I couldn't hear you."
"Rowan!" Bonnie yelled, coming close to the passenger door, but Kai released my neck to wave his finger at her.
I heave and choke lightly as my throat no longer felt like it was closing in, "I wouldn't try to be Ms.Hero again, Bonnie, because if you remember I can take her power and kill her if I wanted to and then come for you."
My body shivered at the thought, "Listen to him, Bonnie." She met my eyes, and I give her a reassuring nod, "It's okay."
"Now that we got that out the way, let's calculate, shall we?" He grinned, his lips fairly close to my ear as sat in the car, "We have and hour until the eclipse and you guys put the ascendant back together for the most part, right? So I think," He paused to push strands of my hair behind my ear and move closer so his lips brushed against it, "I finally think it's time to go home, sunshine, don't you?"
