backstory-  valerie has pretty much been left to fend for herself since the age of seven. her dad died when she was seven, and after that, her mom kind of threw herself into her work in order to cope. valerie and her mom kind of have a tense relationship, and they are definitely not close. valerie has a younger brother who is an 8th grade, and they are kind of close, as they kinda have to stick together in their household. valerie got into many fights at the end of middle school and in the beginning of high school, and was enrolled into cobra kai karate in order to have a way to channel her anger. she has been involved in karate since her freshman year, and she absolutely loves it.
