▶ Part One
Saïx was walking along a dreary and silent corridor, in which the man's single footsteps echoed. In one hand he held an old-fashioned lantern, dark wood with some superficial cuts and the weakening dancing flame.
He lived alone in an immense villa, surrounded by a fence itself gloomy, far from the cities but not so much from the sea, isolated from the rest of civilization, as he preferred to say to himself.
A roar was heard from downstairs.
He snorted and decided to check what it was up to; another annoying noise came from that room and Saïx quickened his pace.
<C'mon, I'm here>, he said as he was talking to a little pet. Instead, it seemed a creature as tall as he, even if in the dim light at the back of the room, howling 'cause of his dry mouth and hunger.
<Feed... Feed me...> It whispered. Its deep tone boomed throughout the basement.
<You look so pathetic>, the man gritted his theeth and punched the iron bars. It needed that. Suddenly it felt quite better and could rest without having to call the human in a loud voice.
That thing lay down and dozed off, leaving the man exhausted as usual.
Impassive, he want back upstairs and settled down near the fireplace, next to a huge window that reflected the gloomy landscape. He liked that vision; he often stared at it for hours.
<I'm gonna be crazy... Am i imagining that thing or does it really exist?>
