xxvii. her revenge
Chapter 27 | Homecoming
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Mira was awoken from her deep dreamless sleep by her phone ringing. She groaned obnoxiously as she covered her head with her pillow waiting for the buzzing to stop, unfortunately it stopped only to ring again and she knew she had to either throw it at the wall or answer it.
She chose the option she wouldn't regret later on. "Whoever this is better have a good reason for ruining my beauty sleep." She tiredly snapped at the person calling her, then recoiled her head and mumbled. "Ew, now I sound like my brother."
A familiar laugh came through the phone. "Good to know you're still a cranky little thing when you're woken up in the mornings, love."
Mira sat up with spoke wryly. "Nik."
"Hello, angel."
The heretic hummed, "it's good to know your phone still works, considering you haven't been answering."
"My apologies, I've been rather busy. Though I did get your many lovely threatening voicemails." Mira could hear his fake smile through the phone. "But we have more important matters to discuss," Klaus declared with urgency in his tone.
Mira scoffed. "I swear every time one of you Mikaelson's call me, it's to tell me about important matters that ruin my day."
"Mimi, Stefan just called me to tell me they woke Mikael and then daggered him." Klaus informed, ignoring her snarky comments.
"What?" The woman frowned. "Nik, that can't be true."
"It has to be love. Stefan is compelled to do as I say, if he were lying it would have given him away."
"Klaus, don't be stupid. Elena came to me and Rebekah demanding our life story from when we were human and reasons why she shouldn't wake Mikael. But it was obvious she was going to anyway, because she wants you dead. If Stefan told you they daggered Mikael, they've found a way to work around his compulsion. Mikael is not dead and neither me nor you are safe."
Klaus face hardened from where he stood, realising Mira was right. "Where's Rebekah?"
Mira took a moment to listen and try and hear the blonde from her bed, hearing her running around downstairs. "Running around my house preparing herself for the homecoming that is tonight."
"Homecomings tonight?"
The Emberson pulled a face. "That's what I just said. Are you going deaf now?"
Klaus rolled his eyes. "Now is not the time for snark, Mira. I'm coming home."
Mimi's face fell in surprise. "Wait, really?"
"Yes, if Mikael being dead is all a ploy to lure me back then it's time I came home to face him once and for all." The hybrid declared.
"Then I'll be right there with you." she silently promised. "We face this monster from our past together."
"Good to know someone still has my back." Klaus smiled softly.
Mira too, smiled a little. "always."
"I will see you tonight," he said before hanging up.
The heretic let out a deep breath as she fell back onto her bed. Her head was already hurting from the problems coming their way. "It's gonna be a long night."
━━━━━━━
After an hour of laying in bed overthinking all the issues in her life, Mira finally got up to start the day. She could hear something happening in the kitchen, causing her to go in there.
She saw Caroline holding up dresses in front of Adelaide while the latter sat down staring at her blankly, Matteo stood behind the kitchen counter watching them in amusement.
A certain redhead was still held up in New York no doubt having the time of her life.
"What have I just walked in on?" The heretic asked, gaining their attention.
"Mimi! Finally!" Caroline grinned.
"Adelaide decided to not go to homecoming so Caroline came over with multiple dresses, trying to make her pick a dress and go." Matteo answered his sister's question, pouring blood from a blood bag into a glass cup.
"I am not going." Adelaide declared, stubbornly. making Caroline throw her head back with a groan.
"Do you know how hard i've worked on this dance? You can't not go, I need you there for support." Caroline retorted with her arms crossed. "Mimi, tell her she has to come to the dance."
"Mimi's not even going—"
"Addie, you're going to the dance." The brunette woman cut off her best friend. "In fact, we're all going."
"Sorry what?" Matteo scrunched up his face. "Why? I don't do high school dances!"
Caroline clapped her hands, practically bouncing up and down. "Thank you!"
"It seems I have no reason to not believe that Elena and her band of bodyguards have woken up Mikael and lied to Klaus about him being dead. My guess is that they want to lure him back to town and have Mikael kill him." Mira explained. "So, Klaus is coming home. You have to prepare for the worst tonight, god knows what Mikael and the scooby gang have planned." She explained.
"So it's official then, Mikaels been awoken?" Matteo asked and Mira could only nod.
Even though the three in front of her hadn't been around when Mira spoke to her father or when she and Rebekah had a history lesson with Elena, Mimi had told them everything. All the little details that she knew, from her powers, to her father's death, the curses, her birthmark, her and Theo's bloodline and of course Mikael and Esther.
To say Adelaide and Matteo were pissed about Elena toying with Rebekah and Mira about waking Mikael was an understatement. Even Caroline was vexed that Elena was planning to still wake the Original vampire-vampire hunter after Mira told her everything Mikael had done just as she had explained to the doppelgänger.
"I think so brother. So we have to be on alert. A part of me really wants to leave and save ourselves the drama but another part of me wants to get this son of a bitch back once and for all." Mira sighed deeply.
Matteo smirked, "I'm loving the second option. I've been waiting a thousand years to see that vile man get a taste of his own medicine."
"I've never met him but i'm all for killing him." Adelaide piped up with a grin.
"Me too." Caroline joined in. She had no reason to help her old friends. In Elena and the Salvatore's eyes Klaus was a monster and they wanted him gone. But how could they think it was smart to slay a monster with another monster. From what Mira told Caroline, Mikael was the monster that should be dead.
"Great, then everyone get ready for homecoming." Mira went to walk out but halted and looked around. "Where's Rebekah?"
She recalled last night when an hysterical Rebekah came to her telling her about what happened after she left and Elena returned. She expressed to Mira that she wasn't mad at Nik for what he had done to their mother but more so the fact that he lied. Either way though she claimed she wasn't going to let Elena or anyone else kill her brother and Mira assured her that wouldn't happen.
"She said she had to go to the Salvatore's because she left her dress there last night." Caroline answered.
Mira's face fell. "oh god, that is the last place she needs to be. Call her, tell her to get her ass back here."
━━━━━━━
Later on in the night Mira was late to homecoming already as she had just finished getting ready. The others had already left because there was some sort of dilemma with the gym flooding that Caroline had to try and sort out and she made Matteo and Addie go with her. Homecoming had been moved to the Lockwood's courtesy of Tyler offering to have it there.
As she pulled up the mansion, she heard her phone vibrate. She had messages from multiple people, Addie and Caroline telling her homecoming had been moved to the Lockwood mansion, Matteo cussing her out for being late and Klaus telling her he would see her soon.
She rolled her eyes putting her phone in her coat pocket. Glancing in the mirror once more, making sure her makeup and hair were perfect before stepping out of the car. She was met with swarms of teens all over the large lawn and a stage with a band playing loud music in the back of the house.
"Hm, unique style homecoming." she mumbled to herself, strutting towards the entrance of the house. She pulled her phone out to see if she received any replies from Rebekah having sent her over fifty messages but there was still no answer. Mimi frowned and hoped the blonde was already there and just too occupied enjoying her homecoming.
Though she had a strong feeling that wasn't the case.
Walking inside the house full of drunk teenagers, she grimaced and glared as one of the boys almost bumped into her. Compelling the boy to go and walk himself into a tree, just for fun.
Spotting Caroline and Adelaide, she quickly made her way towards them. "Quite the turn out." she chuckled, gaining the blondes attention.
"Finally!" Caroline exclaimed. "You took your time. I must say you look amazing as usual."
Mira grinned. "Thank you, sunshine. You both look exquisite. Where's Matteo?"
"Outside I think." Adelaide said. "Knowing that idiot he's probably hooking up with one of these useless humans. Have you heard from Rebekah yet?"
Mira rolled her eyes, nodding to her comment about Matteo but she shook her head at the question. "No, I'm starting to get worried. Hopefully she's here somewhere."
Addie sighed. "Hopefully. She didn't answer but I told her we had to move the dance here and sent her the address so she should know where to go."
Mimi tilted her head noticing Caroline looking around with a frown, "You alright, Care?"
Caroline shook her head. "No! this is not how homecoming was supposed to go. I mean how did Tyler even plan a better party than me so fast? He has a freaking band outside!"
"Something tells me this isn't exactly Tyler's party." Mira murmured, receiving questioning looks from the girls. "I'm gonna go see if I can find Rebekah anywhere, i'll catch up with you both soon." Not waiting for a response she left the two and pushed her way to the backyard.
━━━━━━━
The first familiar faces the original woman saw amongst the large crowd dancing to the loud band was Stefan and Tyler. Reluctantly, she walked over to them. "Boys, how are you this evening?"
The hybrid and vampire raised their brows at her, both not expecting her here. "Mira, what are you doing here?" Stefan asked.
"Well, I didn't want to be the only one missing out on the fun. Plus Caroline wasn't going to let me miss it. You don't want me here, Stef?" Mira frowned in a taunting manner.
Stefan shook his head and shrugged, the worry washing from his eyes returning to the cold blank stare. "You're free to do what you want."
The woman turned to the Lockwood hybrid, who she hadn't seen since she killed him. "Tyler, how's hybrid life treating you?"
"Uh," Tyler dragged. "It's actually been good."
"Hm, well I hope there's no hard feelings for, you know," she nodded. "me killing you."
Tyler chuckled awkwardly. "none at all."
Stefan stared between the two before looking around at the crowd. "It's a nice party you've got going on, Tyler."
"Thanks, but I'm not the one throwing it. I'm just doing what Klaus wants." Tyler shrugged with a smile.
Mira raised a brow at the boy. "Oh, so he is here?" She wasn't told by the man directly that he would be throwing this party. All she got was text asking where she was.
"What do you mean?" Stefan asked.
"It's not a party, man. It's a wake."
Just as he said that and walked off, the crowd erupted into cheers and Klaus Mikaelson stepped onto the stage with a broad smirk. Mira blew out a breath, seeing him for what for some reason felt like the first time all over again.
"Good evening everyone!" Klaus spoke into a microphone as the drunk teenagers cheered for him. "I wanna thank you for being here with me to celebrate! It's been a long time coming!"
Mira shook her head at him. "Dramatic much."
"You're one to talk." Stefan mused, giving her a smirk.
The heretic squinted her eyes at him, "don't start with me, Stefan. Tonight's supposed to be a good night, you know with you lot daggering Mikael and all."
Stefan furrowed his brows at her. "How do you know about that?"
Mira didn't respond as they both noticed Klaus approaching. The hybrids eyes were fixated on Mimi's as he eyed her up and down. Taking in her outfit. She wore a black glittery off the shoulder mini dress that reached mid-thigh, it clung to her body perfectly, her luscious brunette curls swirling down her back. Her coat still wrapped around her and he couldn't help but want to take it off to see her outfit in full display.
He stood in front of her with a soft smile, adoration shining in his eyes as he looked into her own. "You look beyond stunning, angel," he whispered to her.
She felt her body warm up at the sound of his voice blocking out the rest of the loud crowd that stood around them. Chills ran down her spine that made her slightly shiver. She didn't particularly like the effect he was having on her.
"Thank you." She replied, covering up her nerves with a smirk. "I must say you clean up nicely in a suit."
The two stood, staring at each other with matching grins. They spoke no words but their eyes said a million. So much being unsaid between them and both were too stubborn to speak them.
Stefan, who was standing beside them, remained silent as he watched them analyse each other. Raising his brows at the tension that surrounded them. He had no idea how their little plan was gonna work with Mira involved, no one thought she would appear at this event. Now Stefan had spent an entire summer with them both and he knew, if they wanted Klaus gone, they would need Mira gone. Because even if they succeeded with killing Klaus, none of them would get to enjoy it because Mira will slaughter them in retaliation. But how could they possibly kill both Klaus and Mira?
And now with all this power she had which - which he heard about from Elena who had been running around blabbering to everyone about it - they were left with an impossible task. Although that definitely wasn't going to stop them from trying to get what they all wanted.
The Salvatore cleared his throat, interrupting the Original duo's stare off. "Quite the homecoming," he said.
Klaus finally tore his eyes off his old lover, turning to face Stefan before he started to walk, his hand finding its way on Mira's back, leading her along with him and leaving the vampire to follow them. "I've been planning my father's funeral for a thousand years. Granted, in no version of it were any of these people invited, but you get the idea."
Mimi raised a brow at him, having a hard time figuring out if Klaus truly believed his father was gone or not. She sure as hell didn't.
"So, what now? Stop running?" Stefan wondered curiously, walking alongside the Mikaelson.
Klaus hummed, smiling. "Now I reunite my family."
Mimi snapped her head towards him, only to find him already staring down at her with a grin. He had been having the urge to wake his siblings up since he found out Mira and Matteo were alive and now he believed it to be the right time.
"Your family." Stefan squinted at the man. "You mean the people you cart around in caskets?"
Klaus stopped walking, his hand still resting on Mira as he moved them both to stand in front of Stefan. "None of that matters anymore. Mikael is gone. Bygones will be bygones." A teenage girl walked past them with her friends, smiling at Klaus capturing his attention. Mira narrowed her eyes at the girl and Klaus, subtly she used her elbow to jab the Mikaelson. He turned to her with a small glare but smirked when he realised what her problem was.
Mimi only rolled her eyes, looking away from him. "Seems the Homecoming Queen still walks among the living, which leads me to believe Rebekah isn't here...Where is she?" Klaus put his gaze on Mimi for an answer, expecting her to know.
Mira frowned with a shrug. "I don't know. She left my house to pick up her dress from the Salvatore's and now I haven't seen or heard from her." A curious expression rested on her face as she stared at Stefan. "You must have seen her, Stef. So where is she?"
Stefan simply shrugged with a blank look. "I have no idea. I thought she was coming with Matt."
Mira scoffed a laugh. "Matt? Matt Donovan? The human? Rebekah knows if I so much as saw her standing with that boy, I would slap some sense into her, literally." Rebekah hadn't even mentioned to her about having a date, she was going to go with Matteo.
Klaus' brows furrowed as he stared at Stefan dead in the eye. "Oh, be honest now, Stefan. Where is my sister?"
Stefan stepped closer towards him, "I said I have no idea." he tilted his head. "Now, would you like me to take you to your father?"
Klaus let the Rebekah topic go as he smirked. "Well, it wouldn't be a party without the guest of honor, would it? Bring him to me."
"All right. Perhaps there's something in it for me?" Klaus only gave the young vampire a look to go on. "My freedom from your compulsion."
Mira chuckled. "Are you not enjoying not caring about anything? I mean it must be refreshing to not have to worry about all the little bunnies fearing you're gonna make them extinct."
Stefan rolled his eyes at her words while Klaus gave an amused laugh. "Oh, you want your freedom? Well, once he is dead and his weapon destroyed, you'll have your freedom." Klaus gave a sincere nod. "It'll be my pleasure to give it back."
"Let's hope everything is true and you actually bring his daggered body. Otherwise i'm not gonna be happy about you getting my hopes up that Mikael was gone." Mimi said with a threatening glare that told Stefan that if he crossed Klaus, she would be the one they'd have to worry about.
Stefan nodded with a fake smile before walking off.
━━━━━━━
Klaus had taken Mira over to Tyler who stood on the steps looking over at his packed backyard. "My mom would seriously freak if she saw all these people here."
"Your mother won't be a problem." Klaus smiled brightly. "I compelled her to go to church and pray for your friends."
Mira scrunched up her face in confusion. "Church?"
Tyler too laughed in puzzlement. "What are you talking about?" he looked at his sire muddled.
"I want you to look around." Klaus turned tyler as he pointed behind him. "There is Bonnie," the witch stood by herself with a cup of beer in her hand. the original hybrid then pointed elsewhere, "there is Elena and Matt and there's your pretty little crush Caroline with Mira's scary friend and big brother Adelaide and Matteo. Epic dance was wrecked tonight and who came through with the party? You did. What a pal." He then falsely frowned, "But who are all these other people here?"
"I have no idea." Tyler answered realising he didn't recognise majority of the people standing on his lawn. "I've never seen half these people in my life."
Klaus smirked. "That's because I've invited a few dozen friends of my own." He turned and gestured to a group of people that stood like bodyguards. "That's my friend Mindy...picked her up along the way in Kansas. Did you know that there's an entire bloodline of werewolves in the heartland? That's Tony from North Dakota and let's not forget the Seattle contingent."
"Are those people all hybrids?" Tyler asked.
Mimi raised a brow at him. "is that all you've been doing this entire time you've been gone? Creating an army of hybrids."
"Yes, I have angel," Klaus nodded proudly. "Well, they also love a good party. And they, like you, were sired by me. They wish to serve their master. So if anyone should so much as make a move against me, they may feel obligated to retaliate. You're free to warn your friends."
Tyler sighed, nodding to the man he was sired to before walking away leaving the former couple alone.
"I really hope you know what you're doing." Mimi mumbled to him.
"When don't I, darling?"
"When you let your ego go to your head." A voice behind them said making the pair turn and see Matteo smirking with Caroline and Adelaide behind him.
"Ah, Matteo." Klaus rolled his eyes. "Always a pleasure."
Matteo scoffed. "You don't have to tell me that, I already know."
"I swear every time you open your mouth, I have the urge to snap your neck," Adelaide groaned while Theo glared at her.
Klaus pointed to the Rymer vampire and gave a pointed look to both Matteo and Mira. "she gets it."
Caroline threw her head back in annoyance. "This is what i've been dealing with all night. Thank you, Mimi, for leaving me to babysit."
Mira tilted her head at the young blonde. "Try doing it for seven hundred years, care bear."
"Fair point," Care hummed as she crossed her arms.
"Are you all always like this?" Klaus wondered.
"Yes." the four replied in unison causing Klaus' eyes to widen.
"Alright, then."
Matteo looked between his sister and old friend with an excited expression. "So, is a fight taking place tonight or what? I need some action."
"Cause we all know you can't get none nowhere else," Adelaide mumbled and Matteo could only pull her hair.
"It seems like you two may be too busy fighting each other than to be ready to help us fight anyone else." Mira gave them a sarcastic smile.
"No, but seriously, what's going on?" Caroline asked.
Klaus sighed, "we don't know yet. but be on guard, Elena and her band of protectors are definitely up to something."
"Also, you two," Mimi gestured to Caroline and Adelaide, "do me a favour and try and find Rebekah. I'm worried they've done something to her."
"Alright." the two nodded.
Matteo threw his hands up. "What about me?"
"You're with us, mate." Klaus grinned
━━━━━━━
Klaus was standing at a table playing beer pong with Matteo across from him on the other side as they versed each other. Matteo had his eyes narrowed at the hybrid, his competitive side coming out.
"You suck at this game," The Emberson vampire spat.
Klaus squinted at him with a 'are you serious face', "Matteo, you are the one losing."
Matteo scoffed, "You can't prove that."
"You've had to drink eight more cups than I have," Klaus spread out his arms in frustration.
"So?"
The Mikaelson threw his head back with an annoyed groan. "Where the bloody hell is your sister?"
"Hopefully finding you a leash." Matteo grinned cheekily, watching Klaus' eyes twitch in anger.
Before Klaus had the chance to retort to the annoying man — one of his hybrids approached him. "You have a visitor," The female said.
"Well, tell my visitor I'm on the brink of victory here." Klaus replied while he grinned at a glaring Matteo.
"Tell his visitor that he is lying." Theo huffed.
The hybrid ignored the vampire as she spoke once more. "He said his name is Mikael."
Both Klaus and Matteo's faces fell whilst they locked gazes. Both of them having glimmers of rage shining in their eyes.
The hybrid threw the ping pong ball into the last remaining cup on Matteo's side as he said. "Then we mustn't keep him waiting."
Matteo rolled his eyes as he watched the ball land in his cup. "I'm actually gonna need this one," he mumbled, pulling the ball out of the cup and downing the alcohol in one gulp.
"Move everyone out back." Klaus ordered his hybrid. "I'm gonna have a little chat with my dad." he took a sip from his drink before turning to another one of his hybrids. "Tony, you know what to do."
Both him and Matteo walked side by side, treading towards the front door. "Where's Mimi?" Theo wondered worriedly.
"Don't stress, she won't miss this reunion." Klaus assured while he found his father standing at the front door on the patio. He came to a stop right in front of him from inside the house and Matteo stayed back, not coming into view just yet.
"Hello, Niklaus." Mikael greeted nonchalantly.
"Hello, Mikael." Klaus replied with a small smirk. "Why don't you come in? Oh, that's right. I forgot you can't."
"Or you can come outside if you want." Mikael suggested, raising his brows.
"Or I could watch my hybrids tear you limb from limb." Klaus offered in retort while a group of hybrids started to gather on the lawn behind Mikael.
Mikael didn't bother to turn to them, having already sensed them. "They can't kill me," he reminded, shaking his head smugly.
"True. But it'll make a hell of a party game. All I have to do is rub these two fingers together and they'll pounce." Klaus said as he held up his fingers ready to snap them and unleash his hybrids.
"The big bad wolf." Mikael spoke mockingly. "You haven't changed. Still hiding behind your playthings like a coward. You only forget. They may be sired by you, but they're still part vampire. And they can be compelled by me."
Mindy walked up behind Mikael, staring at Klaus as she pushed a struggling Elena into his arms. Klaus had to hide his relief at the fact that they hadn't gotten a hold of Mira or Rebekah, he was starting to worry about both of their whereabouts now.
"Come out and face me, Niklaus. Or she dies." Mikael threatened.
Klaus tilted his head and shrugged. "Go ahead. Kill her." Elena's face dropped at his words but the man held no remorse and showed no signs of taking back his words as he simply didn't care.
Elena shook her head fearfully. "No, Klaus. He'll do it." Klaus paid her no mind though as he eyes were stuck on Mikael.
"If she dies, this lot will be last of your abominations." Mikael scowled.
"I don't need them. I just need to be rid of you." Klaus seethed.
"To what end, Niklaus?" Mikael asked rhetorically. "So you can live forever, with no one at your side? Nobody cares about you any more, boy! What do you have other than those whose loyalty you forced? No one. No one."
A laugh erupted from behind Klaus and an amused Matteo made himself known. "You have no idea how wrong you are, Mikael. I mean bloody hell as much as he gets on my goddamn nerves and I haven't been around him for ten centuries, I'd never turn my back on him."
Mikael's eyes widened at the sight of the Emberson boy. He had not seen him face to face since the day he threatened to kill him if Mira didn't leave. He had not been told that the Emberson's were in town. The older original's face formed into a glare as he realised Miralette had finally broken her oath to stay away from his children and that angered the man. But panic set in, he only had one stake to kill an original, if Mira was around this plan wasn't going to work.
"Matteo, it seems you've finally been reunited with my children." Mikael narrowed his eyes. "Where is your sister? She knows what is to happen now that she has broken her word."
Matteo scoffed, "She stuck to her word for a thousand years. How can you still not get over it?"
Mikael clenched his jaw. "Where is she?"
"Her whereabouts are none of your business. Now that I know the full truth of what you and mother schemed all those years ago — keeping Mimi and Theo from us — my hatred for you runs deeper than you could ever imagine." Klaus glowered at the man in pure rage. All these years he could have had Mira by his side and it was the man hunting him like a dog that was keeping her away. Mikael had to die tonight.
"I was protecting my children!" Mikael became infuriated. "She is a danger to us all, especially those she cares about. Look at her mother and father."
"Both my parent's demise was yours, Esther's and my mother's doing." Matteo spat in anger. "So don't you dare put that on my sister."
Klaus shook his head. "I'm calling your bluff, father. Kill her." he gestured to Elena who was still shaking in Mikael's grip. "See if I care."
"Come outside and face me, you little coward." Mikael gritted out. "And I won't have to."
"My whole life you've underestimated me." a tear fell from the hybrid's eyes as he stared at the man he once called father. "If you kill her you lose your leverage. So go ahead. Go on. Kill her. Come on, old man. Kill her. Kill her!"
Mikael all of a sudden started to laugh. "Your impulse, Niklaus. It has and will forever be the one thing that keeps you from truly being great. I may have threatened Miralette to stay away from you all but do you truly think that is the only reason. She didn't want to be with, or around you. No one does." With that Mikael stabbed Elena, who gasped in shock and pain. Both Klaus and Matteo watched the scene before them with blank expressions, not really caring.
Mikael chuckled smugly and Klaus was caught off guard by Damon rushing up behind him, turning him around and stabbing him in the stomach with the White Oak Tree stake. Matteo was quick to pull the raven haired Salvatore off but became distracted by the a two hybrids coming inside and running at him, trying their hardest to bite him.
Damon grabbed the white oak stake once more while Matteo fought the hybrids, having the upper hand. Bonnie suddenly appeared with her hand raised and aimed at Theo trying to give him an aneurysm, Matteo was unfazed looking at her as if she was dumb and she stared back at him in surprise and fear.
'Elena' suddenly stood up and Mikael spun around, frowning at her in realisation, "Katherine..."
Katherine smirked at him and held up two grenades, turning around and throwing them at the hybrid's scattered on the lawn. "Kaboom."
Inside, Klaus fought back at Damon while Matteo pulled out the hearts of the hybrids, finally killing them before Bonnie threw him at a wall. Before she could do anymore damage Caroline appeared, grabbing her arms and holding her against the wall.
Bonnie stared at her with wide eyes that showed betrayal, "Caroline, what—"
Caroline scoffed and shook her head. "I told you not to do anything stupid. You lied to me!"
As she occupied the Bennett witch. Adelaide ran in attacking another hybrid that was once again going for Matteo. Once she killed the man, she helped Theo up, both of them on guard.
As Damon and Klaus continued to fight, the vampire suddenly got the upper hand after staking Klaus in the arm, Damon raised the stake about to pierce it through the original hybrids heart, but he suddenly faltered, squeezing his eyes shut and shouting out in pain.
Mira strutted out with a murderous look on her face as she stood amidst the chaos. Before she had the chance to do any further damage to the older Salvatore, Stefan sped in tackling Damon off of Klaus and knocking the stake out of his hand in the process.
The stake rolled out the front door right before Mikael's feet, distracting him as he went to quickly pick it up but he didn't get the chance as he became frozen with a purple mist surrounded him. He tilted his head up to meet the blazing violet eyes of the girl he once killed. "Miralette..." he mumbled in amazement.
Mira raised her purple encased hand flicking her wrist and sending Mikael flying backward onto the hard concrete. She sped outside, holding her hand out making the white oak stake fly into it whilst she walked closer to Mikael's frozen body standing above him.
With a powerful cry, she pierced the stake hard into the man's stomach making him cry out. "That was for my father and threatening my brother." She pulled out the stake and then quickly shoved it into his chest close to his heart, "that was for lying to me and giving me ultimatums." She once again pulled out the stake as a vicious smirk rose on her face seeing him stare at her with fearful eyes. "And this..." she whispered maliciously. "Is for killing me." An angry tear fell from her eye as she plunged the stake deep into the man's cold heart.
She stepped back while she watched him scream out as his body went up in flames. Klaus appeared beside her, staring at his so-called father's dying body in disbelief. Mimi glanced at him before grabbing his hand, interlacing with hers giving it a tight reassuring squeeze.
"His gone, Nik," she breathed heavily. "You're free."
Klaus turned to face her, letting go of her hand as they stared at one another. She lifted her hand to wipe fallen tear from his face before he wrapped his arms around her waist pulling her as close as possible to his chest. Mimi sighed in relief, falling into his embrace and for the first time in a long time, she felt at peace.
"Well, i've never seen a more satisfying sight," Matteo walked out, interrupting the moment with a wide smirk.
Klaus and Mira let go of each other, spinning on their feet to face Theo and the two blondes that were smiling behind him.
"I owe you three my gratitude for your help tonight." Klaus said sincerely.
Adelaide waved him off. "It was nothing."
"Yeah," Caroline nodded with wide eyes. "You two got the worst end of the stick."
Matteo furrowed his brows glancing at each of them. "Excuse me, it wasn't exactly a piece of cake fighting two hybrids that were snapping their werewolfy venom filled teeth at you."
Mira walked over to him, patting his shoulder. "it's okay big brother we all witnessed you almost being defeated by the hybrids."
"Defeated?!" Matteo exclaimed incredulously.
"Yes, defeated." Adelaide nodded solemnly. "But don't worry buddy you got em in the end."
Matteo's jaw was on the floor as his head went back and forth between them. "You two are despicable. You both disgust me." He shook his head, storming off, leaving the Lockwood estate.
Caroline sighed. "Way to go you two, now his sulking like a baby and we're gonna have to deal with his tantrum."
Mira and Adelaide only laughed.
Adelaide suddenly raised a brow at her best friend. "Where the hell were you when all of this started?"
Mira blew out a breath, rolling her eyes. "I got held up by a group of hybrids that Mikael compelled to stop any possible interference. They're all out the back either missing their heads or hearts."
"Always temperamental, you are, aren't you?" Klaus teased from behind her.
Mimi turned and narrowed her eyes at him. "Like you're one to talk." She then spun back around to the blondes. "Can you two go deal with my brother? He's probably crying right now after getting himself lost."
"Don't worry." Addie laughed looking at Mimi. "We'll go deal with the man child and make sure he gets home. Have fun cleaning up this mess." Mira wasn't given the chance to reply as Adelaide grabbed Caroline's hand and ran off after Matteo.
Hearing someone chuckle behind her, Mimi spun back around to face an amused Klaus. "You lot are quite the entertainment."
Mira smirked with a shrug, "we try."
"What the hell did you do?" They heard Damon shout from inside. Klaus took Mira's hand in his once more, leading her inside to find Damon standing and glaring furiously at Stefan.
"He's earned his freedom." Klaus announced. Stefan stepped away from Damon, walking up to Klaus.
Mimi eyed the pissed off Damon who stood behind them looking at her in disgust. The heretic scowled at him as she mouthed, 'leave, now.' Damon silently scoffed before he fled.
"Thank you my friend. You no longer have to do as I say. You're free." Klaus spoke as he un-compelled the younger Salvatore.
A look of relief crossed Stefan's face before he turned trying to find Damon, only to see him now gone.

"Rebekah, where are you? Pick up the phone, darling. Daddy is dead. It's time for a family reunion." Klaus spoke into his phone leaving the missing Rebekah a voicemail.
"Anything?" Mimi asked in concern as she walked beside Klaus through a truck stop, looking down at her phone.
"Nothing, she's still not bloody answering." Klaus huffed in annoyance. "You?"
"Not a thing," Mimi sighed, shutting off her phone. "Not even the locator spell I did early worked, it came up with nothing. I'm starting to get worried, Nik. What if they've done something to her?"
"Hey," Klaus pulled her to a stop, resting his hands on her upper arm. "Don't stress yet, we'll find her and then we'll finally reunite our family, alright?"
Mira nodded with a soft smile. "And once we do that i'm taking those fucking daggers off you."
Klaus' face fell as did his hands as he stood up straight. "Now I'm not so sure I can agree to that." He started walking again leaving her behind.
"Well I hate to break it to you but it's not exactly up for negotiation, asshole!" She exclaimed loudly while she quickly caught up to him. "Daggering your siblings is not healthy and I highly doubt they enjoy it."
"Yeah, yeah." Nik rolled his eyes before he felt his phone vibrate. Looking at the caller id to see it was stefan ringing him, bringing a grin to his face as he answered. "Stefan! Miss me already?"
"I'm just calling to thank you for my freedom."
"Oh, I like to believe I'm a man of my word, more or less." Klaus taunted, grinning at Mimi who was pulling a face at his words.
"Thing is, it came at too high of a price." Stefan replied. "You took everything from me, Klaus."
Mira scrunched up her face as she listened to him. figuring he was still without his humanity. Honestly she thought no humanity Stefan would be fun but it seems he broods more than Stefan with his humanity, and that Stefan feeds on harmless little animals so that's saying something.
"Let bygones be bygones, trust me. Resentment get's old." Klaus retorted, uninterested in the conversation as he approached his truck that held the caskets filled with the body's of his siblings — nodding for Mimi to unlock it.
"You know what never gets old?" Stefan said just as Mira opened the truck, sliding the door up only to find it empty. "Revenge."
Klaus and Mira shared a pissed off look.
"No." Klaus seethed.
"What's the matter, Klaus? Missing something?" Stefan mocked, feeling triumphant at finally having the upper hand against Klaus.
"What the fuck is he doing?" Mira's blood boiled.
Yes, Mimi was terrified to wake up all the Mikaelson's and have them all - including her and Matteo - together again since they were human. But she didn't like them being daggered, and they definitely didn't deserve it. And even though they all do and probably will hold some sort of resentment towards her, she was not going to let them continue to suffer. She had full plans to steal Klaus' daggers once they were out of the Mikaelson's bodies.
"Oh, tell Mira i'm just enjoying my freedom."
"I will kill you and everyone you've ever met!" Klaus threatened in a furious manner.
"You do that, and you will never see your family again." Stefan retorted simply. "I wonder, Klaus...as someone who has been one step ahead for a thousand years...are you prepared for this?"
Mira snatched the phone out of Klaus' hand, raising it to her ear. "And are you prepared for the battle you've just started? Cause let me assure you Stefan, you are not gonna be the one to finish it...I am."
