Chapter 16 | The Sun also Rises

As Mira walked through the woods behind Klaus she couldn't help but have an unsettling feeling in her stomach. She had no idea why she was feeling it or what was causing it but she knew it wasn't good.

"Are you alright, love?" Klaus asked, noticing the look of distress on her face.

Mimi cleared her throat, "yeah, I'm fine."

He opened his mouth to press her even more but someone else's voice cut him off.

"Greta, witches are supposed to maintain the balance in nature. It's your duty to them to keep this curse sealed," the voice of Elena Gilbert.

Greta glared, "My duty is to Klaus! The new order."

Klaus and Mira appear side by side, taking in the scene in front of them. Three circles of fire surrounded three females. Jules the werewolf, Jenna now the vampire and Elena the human doppelgänger.

Mira put her attention to Jenna, eyeing the blood smearing her face.she had watched Katherine call the woman as Elena to lure her out. Mira wanted to tell Klaus to pick someone else but she had already stopped him from using Caroline. She knew Jenna didn't deserve this but it had been done. She didn't owe Elena or Jenna to save the Sommers women and she didn't have a reason to feel guilty about it.

"Glad to know I still have a dance partner," Klaus smiled at Greta. Mira rolled her eyes.

He then turned to the women in the circles, "Hello, my lovelies. Are we ready?"

Mimi huffed in annoyance at Jules' screams, wanting to rip her heart herself after what she did to Adelaide and Caroline.

Klaus pulled out the white rock from his pocket, "I've got the moonstone. I spent 500 years looking for this. I hate to part with it."

Klaus handed it over to Greta who took it and looked up at the sky. "The moon has passed its apex. Remember everything you need to do?"

"I remember," Klaus replied.

Mimi took a seat on the huge rock in front of the rings of fire. Greta dropped the moonstone into a stone bowl filled with flames. Sparks began to fly as the moonstone melted. Greta started to chant the spell in Latin. Klaus goes over to approach the rings pulling Mimi up to walk over with him.

Jules looked up at Elena, shaking in agony. "Everything I did, I was just trying to help Tyler."

"Are you Jules?" Elena asked.

Jules ignored her question, "I didn't want him to be alone."

Klaus and Mira look down at the wolf, "Shall we?" He smirked.

The fire around Jules dispersed. Jules's eyes suddenly turned yellow and she used her speed to rush at Klaus. Although Mira got the upper hand and used her own speed to run at Jules and pin her to the ground.

"This is for my best friends," she whispered to the dying woman. The female hybrid let her vampire face show as she plunged her hand into the wolf's chest and ripped out her heart effortlessly.

Jules took a final breath, looking Mira in the eyes as tears streamed down her face before her eyes closed and her head fell back. Mimi smiled as he held the bloody heart in her hand. She looked to see Klaus grinning brightly and Jenna and Elena staring at her in horror.

"Wonderful," Klaus muttered.

Stefan, Bonnie and Elijah are standing outside the old witches house. Damon had called to inform Stefan about Klaus using Jenna. Stefan was now telling Bonnie.

"Why did he take Jenna?" The witch asked.

"A punishment for meddling," Elijah answered.

"Klaus was going to use Tyler and Caroline. But Damon and Adelaide rescued them," Stefan added.

"Adelaide helped?" Bonnie frowned.

Stefan shrugged, "it seems we underestimated how much Mira and Adelaide truly care about Caroline."

"Alright, well we need to go. Now. Before Jenna's been sacrificed. I can kill Klaus myself," Bonnie declared.

Stefan shook his head, with a sigh, "Bonnie, If you use that much power, you'll be dead. We've already been through this. It's not an option."

"Besides if Mira's there she'll kill you herself, in a heartbeat," Elijah voiced, "you won't be able to take them both on."

He had a theory about Mimi's witch side, but if it wasn't true their entire plan was never going to work. But no matter what he wasn't going to let them hurt her.

"Letting Jenna die isn't an option either," Bonnie stated, sadly.

Elijah looked between them before his gaze fell on Stefan knowingly, "Well, Stefan would agree with you."

Bonnie frowned in confusion as Stefan walked closer towards her, "We're going to offer another vampire. One that he'll want more. Me."

Mira squeezed Jules' bloody heart into the stone bowl as Greta continued chanting. Klaus stood beside her watching the flames in the bowl flare.

"Does that mean it's working?" He asked.

Greta nodded, "It's working."

The unsettling feeling in Mimi's stomach was only intensifying and she had no idea what was going on with her.

She walked away from where she was standing back to her seat on the rock. She watched Jenna and Elena have an emotional talk but she didn't listen. It was the least she could do.

She watched Klaus as he approached the ring of fire that surrounded Jenna. "Hello, Jenna," he greeted her, causing the aunt and niece to get up and look at him.

"Let her go. I understand that I have to die, but she doesn't!" Elena begged as she stepped closer to the flames, causing them to flare up, making her retreat back.

"Careful," Klaus warned lightheartedly.

"Elena, don't."

"No, Jenna! We can't leave Jeremy without a family," she retorted, before turning back to the male hybrid, "I followed your rules. I did everything that you asked. I didn't run. Please."

Mira looked up with a sigh, "they just don't know when to quit, do they."

Klaus copied her action by also looking up, "I don't recall you being on the guest list."

Everyone turned to see Stefan standing on a cliff, "I'm here to talk." He spoke with his eyes on Klaus.

"Very well, then," Klaus sped up to the top of the cliff and walked calmly towards Stefan. "What can I do for you, Mr. Salvatore?"

Mimi stayed in her spot as she listened to Stefan and Klaus' conversation.

"You don't need to kill Jenna. I'll take her place," Stefan offered.

Mimi chuckled silently to herself, she truly wasn't surprised at all.

"Oh, I don't know. I rather appreciate the symmetry of three women," Klaus stated blissfully, "Three goddesses. Sacrificed at nature's altar."

"Don't play games with me. You'll get what you want either way," Stefan acted carelessly.

"You're quite the hero, aren't you? I've heard that about you," Klaus mused.

"Just make the trade. Me for Jenna."

Jenna, who had been trying to use her new vampire hearing, caught onto him saying that. "Oh, my god," she gasped.

"What is it?" Elena asked, fearfully.

"He wants to trade places with Jenna," Mimi answered, earning their attention. "He's playing the hero again."

Elena's face converted into a look of panic as she turned her gaze back up to her boyfriend. She suddenly turned to Mira, her eyes full of desperation.

"Please, Mira, you have to stop him," she begged, "you can't let this happen."

Mira furrowed her brows in confusion, "why can't I? You all turned on me like I was the bad guy without the whole story. So I simply chose to be the bad guy. I have no reason to save you or Stefan. I have no reason to stop this."

"If what you said was true, if you really wanted to help us then you'll stop this, please," Elena tried again.

Mimi smirked and shook her head, "I no longer want to help you. Sorry, Elena."

"Quite the predicament," Klaus cut off the conversation as he and Stefan approached the women. "You know, it's funny, all this talk about preserving family, and here's Stefan, granting your wish."

"Stefan,"

The Salvatore gave his girlfriend a sad smile, "It's okay."

"Well," Klaus pointed between Jenna and Stefan, "Who's it going to be, Elena?"

Tears coated the doppelgängers face as she replied firmly, "No."

"Oh, don't worry. There's actually no choice,"
Klaus suddenly sped around Stefan and staked him in the back. Stefan screamed out in pain while crumbling to the ground.

"No! Stefan! No!" Elena shouted.

Klaus ripped the stake out, leaving a large chunk of wood in his back. "I have other plans for your boyfriend. I want him alive. But for now," Mimi ran over and snapped Stefan's neck causing him to fall, disgracefully, to the ground.

Elena let out a gasp in shock.

While Klaus just smiled once again, "Whenever you're ready, Greta."

Greta began chanting the next part of the spell which dispelled the ring of fire that was around Jenna. The Sommers looked around in fear.

"Your turn."

"No, Jenna, no," Elena attempted to get to her aunt, but the fire around her grew.

"It's alright, Elena. I know what I have to do," Jenna told her.

After a moment of silence between Jenna and Elena, Jenna ran to Greta and ferociously bit into her neck. Greta let out a pained scream. Klaus was quick to speed over to Jenna and stake her in the back, pulling her off of Greta. The new vampire grunted as he released her, letting her fall to the ground.

Mimi stood back watching it unfold.

"Jenna, no!" Elena sobbed. "Just turn it off. Jenna. Turn it off. You won't be scared anymore."

Klaus spun Jenna over onto her back and hovered over her. Jenna seemed less scared, seemingly having done what Elena told her to do, as Klaus staked her in the heart.

"No! Jenna! No! Jenna!" Elena screamed in agony as she watched Jenna's body start to become grey and decayed. Klaus released the stake from his grap and stood up. Mimi looked away from the scene, letting out a sad sigh. Jenna laid lifeless on the stone with the stake through her heart.

Greta began to chant once again, now covering the wound on her neck. Klaus pulled Mimi along so she could stand by his side. Stefan suddenly woke up and grunted in discomfort from the piece of wood in his back. He looked up at Elena to see her tear streaked cheeks. He turned his gaze over towards where Jenna's dead body rested with the stake in her chest.

Greta poured Jenna's blood into the ceremonial bowl while the hybrids watched.

"It's time," Klaus announced. The circle of fire disappeared from around Elena. Klaus extended his hand toward her but she stood up from the ground and walked past Klaus, ignoring his hand. She made her way to the altar and looked down at her aunt's body. Klaus stood beside her and grabbed her face in his hand.

"Thank you, Elena," he whispered.

"Go to hell," she spat back.

Mira watched as Elena stared out, impassively, while Klaus sunk his fangs into her neck and began draining her of her blood. Stefan watched, helplessly as Elena's eyelids started to flutter and her eyes rolled into the back of her head as all her blood was drained. The unsettling feeling in Mira intensified immediately as Klaus dropped the girls dead body to the ground.

The flame in the bowl extinguished and Klaus breathed heavily while walking down the stone steps. "I can feel it. It's happening."

Klaus and Mira look up at the full moon. Suddenly, his bones begin to crack and he starts to transform. All while Mimi screamed in pain as she felt as if her insides were being torn apart. Klaus' eyes turn yellow, while Mira's turn purple — veins appearing under both their eyes.

Mimi looked down at her hands to see purple energy start to form around her finger tips. She looked up just in time to see Klaus be thrown through the air. The flames in the bowl reignite. Greta turned to see Bonnie coming down the hillside, chanting a spell. Before Greta could react, Damon snuck up behind her and snapped her neck. The older Salvatore took no notice of Mira as he knelt down and picked up Elena's lifeless body.

Bonnie continued to chant while Klaus looked at her in shock, "No! You were dead!" He screamed in pain as she continued the spell.

Mimi felt her blood boil as she watched everything going on around her. She ignored the nagging ache in her chest as she slowly stood. Suddenly she felt hands lifting her up. She turned her head to see her brother and Elliana on either side of her.

"What the hell is going on?" Matteo shouted.

Damon payed no mind to them as he knelt down and ripped the rest of the stake out of his brother's back. He grabbed Stefan's shoulder, as if to help him up, but Stefan turned and looked up at him, grabbing a hold of his jacket.

"I need you to get her out of here!"

"What about you?" Damon asked.

"I'm not leaving until they're dead," Stefan told him, "Go!"

Damon picked up Elena's body and finally turned to see Mira struggling while two people unknown to him helped her stand. His eyes met hers and he could instantly see that the betrayal in them. He betrayed her, he lost his best friend for good. With guilt and regret he tore his gaze from her and sped Elena away.

  Bonnie continued the spell while Klaus shrieked out, lying against the rocks. Elijah suddenly approached him and Bonnie stopped her chant.

Mimi softly pushed Matteo and Ellie behind her as she stepped forward. The ache remained in her chest as she did so.

"Elijah?"

"Hello, brother," Elijah greeted as he pushed his arm swiftly into Klaus' chest, clutching onto his heart. "In the name of our family, Niklaus," he started as he twisted his brothers heart, ready to pull it out.

"Elijah!" Mimi screamed, causing him to look up at her as she shook her head, "don't do it."

"I am sorry you got caught up in this Miralette but there is no going back now," Elijah said.

"I figured," Mira smiled sadly knowing he had been put through a lot before of Klaus throughout the years. She instead turned to Bonnie with a scowl, "you're gonna regret that."

"I'll take you out too," the Bennett witch warned while holding up her hand but before she could do anything Elliana kicked her to the ground and Matteo broke Stefan's leg.

"I don't think so," the redhead glared.

Mira turned back to watch Elijah seconds away from ripping Klaus' heart and that was when she let out a piercing screaming. All while a large amount of purple energy escaped her hands blowing everyone back. It was like a powerful force field emerging from her. Something none of them had ever seen, power they hadn't ever felt. Slowly the strong energy faded away and Mimi breathed heavily as she looked at her hands.

Everyone stared at her in shock, no one knowing what the hell just happened, not even her. "You wanna try that again," she looked at Bonnie who was trying to use a spell on her but to no avail.

Klaus turned away from his former lover, still appalled at what he just witnessed and turned to his brother, "I didn't bury them at sea!"

Elijah moved his gaze to him, "What?"

"Their bodies are safe. If you kill me, you'll never find them," Klaus informed him.

Stefan - who was still on the ground looked at him in worry, "Elijah! Don't listen to him."

"Elijah. I can take you to them. I give you my word, brother."

Elijah seemed to be having second thoughts about killing his brother as he looked between him, Mimi and Matteo.

"Do it and I'll take you both out," Bonnie warned as she stood up once again.

"She'll kill you before you get the chance," Elijah gestured to Mira.

Bonnie shut her mouth knowing he was right as she looked at the deathly expression on Mira's face.

Elijah looked down at Klaus and back up at Bonnie and Stefan, "I'm sorry."

"No!" Bonnie and Stefan shout in unison as the run forwards only to be held back by Ellie and Matteo.

"Get out of here, now!" Mira told her brother and best friend just before Elijah grabbed her and sped off with her and Klaus.

This was so short and there's no Adelaide, but don't worry there's plenty of her in the next chapter. Mira has her full power back, it'll be explained in future chapters how she was also apart of the ritual.

Also act one ends next chapter and idk how to feel about it :/
