A thousand years ago
1001
A stunning brunette girl walked through the woods with a light smile on her face as she smelt the gorgeous flowers that accompanied the trees. Her long sleeved, light pink simple Viking gown that went down to her feet fit her perfectly. Her long wavy brown hair flowing in the wind. Her skin silk smooth and her looks were admirable. It was no question the girl was a beauty.
This was always Miralette's favourite thing to do, just wander the forest without a care in the world. To looks at the flowers, the animals and watch the sunset through the trees.
She finds a gorgeous blue butterfly perched on a daisy. Frowning as she reliases it's wing was broken. She slips off her silver ring and holds out her hand, she lowly started to chant Latin words forming a spell. Just like that the wing was fixed and the butterfly begun adjusting to flying.
A figure began creeping up behind her. A boy, with blond long hair that just reached his shoulders. His blue eyes shine with mischief, yet a glint appears in them at the sight of the brunette.
The girl takes no notice of the boy, too caught up in the butterfly. As he comes up behind her, he grabs her shoulders. "Boo," he yelled.
The young girl jumped to her feet while letting out a squeal of surprise. Turning around quickly to see the boy hunched over laughing.
"You scared me to death!" She shouted as she hit him playfully.
Niklaus calmed himself from his laughing as he looked at the gorgeous girl in front of him with an amused smile. "That was the point, angel."
Her cheeks flushed lightly at the nickname. Angel, was a word that described Miralette perfectly. She was to pure to be true. She was his angel. Niklaus Mikaelson always believed Miralette Emberson was far to good for him, especially with how his father treated him. He never believed he deserved her in his life no matter how many times she told him otherwise.
"What are you doing out here Nik? I thought you and lijah were practicing your sword wielding." Miralette tilted her head in curiosity. Her accent making her voice sound even more angelic than it already was.
He took the small flower that was rested in her hand and pushes a strand on hair behind her ear before resting the flower there. This causing Miralette's heart flutter.
"He was getting rather agitated about me talking about seeing you." Niklaus replied, sheepishly.
"I've been wanting to see you as well." Miralette giggled. She held out a hand for him to take. "Come and wander the woods with me. Maybe we will find Kol and Matteo along the way."
Niklaus chuckled as he took her hand, following her like a lost puppy as always. "Those two together is always trouble."
Miralette smiled as she nodded in agreement.
"And where is Rebekah? I've missed her." The brunette questioned, looking around the forest with a content smile.
Niklaus frowned in confusion. "You saw Rebekah yesterday. How on earth could you miss her?"
Miralette shrugged as she plucked another flower from the ground. "Because she's my best friend and we have separation issues." She turned back to him with an amused smile. "Besides she is my favourite blonde after all."
The boy gave her an offended look. "I thought I was your favourite blond?" He pouted.
Miralette raised her brow. "You're a close second." She turned to him with a slight smirk, knowing exactly what she was doing. Slowly she begun stepping away
Niklaus narrowed his eyes at her, reliasing what she was up to. "That doesn't sound right love. Not when I'm your favourite out of all my siblings."
"My favourite Mikaelson's? Oh, well you definitely fall down the list. Cause you've got Henrik, so that'd place you a third maybe fourth-" he cut her off.
"Okay that's it." He started running towards her as she squealed and begun running away as he chased. A few flowers in her left hand that she gripped onto so she doesn't drop them. They pass a small river as they run through the trees, smiles etched onto both their faces. The sun setting behind them, orange and yellow lighting up the sky.
Hiding behind a tree, trying to catch her breath as she believed she lost him. Slowly backing away as she looked back and forth for any movement. She let out a yelp as strong arms wrapped around her waist and lifted her off the ground, throwing her over a shoulder. "Nik, put me down," she squealed between her laughs.
"Admit i'm your favourite than I will." Niklaus replied as he walked off with her still on top of his shoulder.
Finally giving in Miralette sighed. "You Niklaus Mikaelson are not only my favourite blond but my all time favourite Mikaelson." She was instantly put back on the ground a few inches from the boy.
Smiling triumphantly Nik looks downed at the gorgeous Emberson girl. "That's all I needed to hear." He stared down into her hazel eyes, that could hypnotise just about anyone. An adoring smile on her lips as she stared back at him. "You know I love you? Right?" He spoke softly.
Her charming smile grew at the words, "Just as I love you, my love. Always and forever." Her words mixed with her angelic voice made his heart flutter.
"Always and forever." He whispered as he lifted his hand to push back a strand of her brown hair. Caressing her cheek with his thumb as he slowly leaned in, gently kissing brunettes lips. Their lips mixed together perfectly as Miralette smiled into it.
"Promise you will never leave me?" Nik asked as he pulled back. Seriousness mixed with sadness swirling in his eyes making the Emberson girl frown.
"Nik, you know I'll never leave you. At least not willingly. You Niklaus Mikaelson, are stuck with me. Til death do us part." She spoke sincerely and purely. Just her words made the broken boy feel more loved than ever.
Without Miralette Emberson, Niklaus Mikaelson would feel as if he had nothing left to live for. That promises filled him with reassurance that she would forever be by his side.
But promises are meant to be broken.
"Do you two ever do anything else?" A voice spoke out from behind Miralette interrupting the blissful moment.
The couple took their gazes off of each other to turn to the source, and there stood their brothers. Both boys looking at their siblings with amused smiles.
"And do you two always have to interrupt?" Mimi retorted with a playful glare. Nik grabbing her smaller hand as they walked towards Kol and Matteo.
Matteo shrugged and winked at his little sister. "Best way to annoy you, so of course." He received a sarcastic smile from her in return.
Nik raised his brows at the two trouble makers. "What exactly are you two doing out here?"
"Rebekah demanded we come and get Mimi so they can play dress up." Kol answered in annoyance, clearly not happy to be trekking through the woods for his sister.
"Even if we had to drag her away from you," Matteo added, seeing the glare his sister was giving him, he raised his hands in defence. "Her words, not mine."
Miralette chuckled, "She wants to pick out dresses for the dinner mother and father are hosting tomorrow. And I mustn't keep her waiting." Turning to Nik who was silently sulking considering he didn't want her to leave.
"Right now?" He whined, making the boys roll their eyes but Mimi smile.
"Our fathers also want our help in catching dinner." Matteo informed.
Kol rolled his eyes. "Cause you need five people to hunt." He remarked sarcastically, making the others chuckle at his annoyance.
Pecking his lips, Miralette whispered, "I will see you later." He in return pulled her into a longer kiss.
"She's still my little sister Nik. I'd be much happier not see that." Matteo groaned making the couple laugh. He was always the protective older brother.
The girl gives her brother and Kol a quick hug. "Have fun hunting. Hopefully Bekah and I will be down with our dress up by than."
"Doubtful." The three boys mumbled in unison.
Mimi rolled her eyes at them. "This is why I prefer Finn and Elijah."
"We've already had this conversation today love. Let's not do it again." Nik playfully glared.
Kol pointed at her. "Besides I'm the most fun out of us all and you know it."
"And I'm you brother, it's not even a choice with me." Matteo added.
Waving them off as she walked away. "I'm not even going to bother with this argument. I'm going to find Bekah before she comes and scolds me for taking too long." She quickly turned to Niklaus, "I love you."
Smiling at her as he replied, "I love you too." Their brothers making gaging noises caused them to roll their eyes.
This was the time Klaus and Mira were human, happy and together. This was only weeks before they lost it all and their selves.
