Seasons Change Like People Do
You came into my life
Like the crisp autumn winds
You tasted of cinnamon and pumpkin
And smelled of pine and sage
Your words were as sweet as honey
And freckles dusted your caramel skin
Like the stars that sparkle in the cold night sky
I fell for you, just like the orange, red, and yellow
Leaves that were falling from the limbs of trees
But when winter came, so did the bitter cold
You were no longer like a cup of coffee,
A cozy wool sweater, or a crackling fire
You were like frostbite and winter storms
You gave me warmth, and then stripped it away
Now all I can do is pray for spring to come
To thaw out this frozen heart of mine
And this time I'll know that people change
Just as much as seasons do
