"MAYBE you shouldn't go." Sif suggested with a shrug as she adjusted Viola's waved hair into a messy updo. The raven haired girl gave her a look of confusion.
Viola and Magne had become aware that Heimdalr and his friends all knew something was odd about the town as well, their reasoning? They didn't exactly give Viola one, nor Magne just that the town was well polluted and the Jutul family was behind it.
Getting to know others in the town outside of school showed Viola not many people were too fond of Vidar Jutul nor his wife. Rather the opposite, though no one said a word due to fear. Whether it be fear of losing their job, their home, whatever the case may be; no one dared to speak up.
Until now.
Laurits had told both his siblings the Jutuls had invited them over for dinner; strangely enough.
The idea of spending a few hours with the town's most controversial family didn't sit well with either Magne nor Viola, especially with everything that had occurred as of late. Not to mention, Viola had made sure to steer clear of Fjor and his groupies, despite his constant phone calls and texts.
Was she embarrassed? Slightly, more so that she had involved a grown man into such childish things, but the fact Heimdalr and his friends hated the Jutuls with a burning passion from what Viola had gathered.
Whether it be the disgusted scoff Fandral would make, or the constant eye rolls Sif would do just upon the siblings names alone.
But what confused Viola Seier more so was how they weren't so sure her spending time with Fjor and or Saxa was such a good idea anymore. The other night Heimdalr texted her to stray away seeing as how Magne had 'proof' of sorts Isolde's death wasn't any sort of accident.
Another thing Viola was annoyed about, her brother had in fact ignored his promise and gone and did something stupid.
She was sure she'd find him next carrying around a baseball bat in the middle of the night in the search of dead bodies; or perhaps an ax.
"I thought I was supposed to question Fjor?" Viola asked the tanned beauty with dark eyes that starred from behind her through the mirror.
"Yeah, but I just don't think it's a good idea. I mean you're going to be alone in their house tonight and--"
"I won't be alone, I'll be with Magne and Laurits." Viola corrected.
Sif gnawed on her lip, still stubborn as ever; Sif thought to herself with a small smile. She shook her head, "I know. But, you can never be too careful with that family."
Viola looked at the raven haired girl in wonder, "Why do you hate them so much?" She asked catching her off guard as her hands halted in the girl's hair, "I mean, I understand but I feel like there's more to it than just pollution and covering up -- a death." She said with a frown thinking of her late friend.
Sif's eyes darkened momentarily, so much so Viola could have sworn she had seen a golden rim wrap around the girl's pupil. She blinked as Sif's eyes had returned to their normal brown.
"Call it woman's intuition." She said now with a smirk before letting her arms drop to her sides, "All done."
Viola nodded and looked at her hair with a smile, "It looks great." She complimented.
Sif nodded before her eyes widened, "Wait, I almost forgot something." She said walking over to her bag and pulling out an amulet. Viola's eyes widened at the large blue calcite crystal that was in the centre. "This."
Viola shook her head as she let her finger tips trail the amulet, "I--I can't take this."
"It's yours." Sif said as Viola frowned at her words, Sif cleared her throat, "I mean now it is. Think of it as it was yours in a past life and we were best friends and your best friend gave this to you for . . . protection. And I mean, blues aren't really my colour anyways." She shrugged walking around Viola and placing it around her neck, snapping the clasp together. "Now, you're ready."
Viola starred in the floor length mirror and let her finger tips trace the detailed border around the stone. "It's beautiful." She breathed out in awe.
Sif smiled softly.
A knock interrupted the two.
"Uh, we should get going." Laurits said to his sister his eyes then trailed to the woman in heeled boots and tight clothing, he swallowed thickly as she walked over and took a seat on an old chair off to the side of Viola's bedroom. A boa was in her grasp whilst a smirk graced her blood red lips. "Laurits." He introduced.
"Mm, Ellisif." She winked at the boy who smirked.
"Get out." Viola scrunched up her nose at her brother.
"We have to go if we're gonna be on time." He said as his sister spared him a glance, he frowned she was still mad with him. Sif sat up and nodded to the boy.
Laurits sighed and exited the room.
"Ouch." Sif said as Viola grabbed her leather jacket and placed it around her frame, "What happened there?" She asked looking back to where Laurits stood.
Viola shook her head adjusted her jacket before grabbing her purse, "Nothing. It's nothing."
"Didn't look like nothing." She uttered, Viola glanced to the girl who shrugged innocently. "Anyways, I put my number on speed dial if you need me tonight. Gods know if they'll say or do anything." She said walking over to Viola and handed her phone to her. "Don't show weakness or they'll attack."
"This isn't a war, Sif." Viola shook her head as the girl's doe eyes slightly widened at the familiar nickname, "What?" Viola asked in confusion, "I heard Fandral call you it, figured it's short for Ellisif." She explained herself slightly worried she didn't want just anyone calling her it.
"Nothing." Sif shook her head almost immediately, "Um, just my friends call me that." She said as Viola frowned. "I mean, we're friends but, I just . . . never mind." She shook her head.
Viola smiled at the girl's strange behaviour.
Just then Sif wrapped her arms around Viola and hugged her tightly shocking the raven haired girl who tapped her back lightly.
"Sorry." Sif apologized letting go after a moment, "Just happy I made a new friend, was getting tired of the boys and their constant battle of testosterone." She giggled as Viola smiled softly, "Well, you should go, before you're even more fashionably late."
"Yeah."
"Good luck. Call me if you need me."
Viola nodded at the girl's protective nature but didn't question her about it. She assumed it was how she was with all her friends, as Viola was with her family and -- now, friends.
It was nice, having friends. And Sif seemed like the type where Viola could rant about anything and everything and she'd listen, she was quickly becoming almost like an older sister to her, weirdly enough.
She wondered how Magne and the boys were getting along. From what she gathered from Sif, it was as if they had been friends forever. Weird, Viola thought. Though she was happy her brother wasn't alone and not everyone in town thought they were on the verge of insanity.
Though Viola's little stunt after the diner had herself thinking otherwise, she hadn't told Sif or anyone to be exact, she hoped Gry would keep it to herself, but a part of Viola thought she'd tell Magne and she wasn't entirely sure if she wanted him to know or anyone for that matter.
She didn't need anyone worrying for her with everything that was already transpiring in their lives.
She was in store for one hell of a ride.
THE three Seiers entered the Jutul residence reluctantly, one however was ecstatic where as his twin sister and older brother were much more hesitant in their current situation.
Though Viola had already been to their house once, it still amazed her how big the mansion truly was.
The night of the dance hit her as she looked to where Fjor laid beneath his father who sent countless blows to his head. She swallowed a lump in her throat and shifted uncomfortably as Saxa descended down the staircase, much like a princess would in her castle.
"Hey, so nice to see you guys. Welcome to Jutulheim." Saxa announced approaching the three as her father stood by watching as Laurits and Saxa embraced.
She approached Viola with a wide smile though it fell slightly as her eyes cascaded down around her neck; laying flatly and neatly against her crisp white turtle neck laid her amulet, the blue calcite stone on full display.
She briefly glanced to her father who stood up straighter than before.
Magne stepped forwards gaining Saxa and Vidar's attention, he held out his hand to her. Unlike Laurits who went for a hug, the tall blonde Seier took her hand in his and shook it, his eyes locking with Saxa's own.
"Yes, welcome, please." Vidar said reliving some tension in the air.
"Yeah." Laurits nodded following Vidar.
Viola glanced around the room as her eyes landed on the panting dog across from her. The same dog that had been barking relentlessly the day Vidar had spoken to her mother at the gas station.
Its milky eyes starred at her in particular.
She removed her gaze from the dog and followed after Laurits who pulled out a chair next to him for her to take only for her to ignore his kind gesture and walked away opposite of him.
Still giving the boy the silent treatment.
"Holy shit, is that . . ." Laurits said looking over to the large painting in awe, "Vi, look."
Viola looked over and her eyes widened slightly, impressed. How hadn't she noticed their art work? Perhaps it was the odd decor pieces that had been displayed everywhere she hadn't taken notice of the paintings, but it did surprise her they had such an authentic piece of work on their wall.
Then again they were loaded, probably had it handed down in the family. She thought.
"Munch? Yeah, he painted it for my great grandfather." Vidar nodded between the two teenagers.
Of course he did.
Magne, growing bored and annoyed spoke up, "Are we the only ones coming?"
Viola glanced to her left seeing Fjor had now joined them and their mother, she starred at Ran as memories appeared before her eyes, then to Fjor. She turned her gaze onto the table ahead of her.
"Yes. I thought we should get to know each other a little." Saxa explained.
"And of course, welcome you to our little community." Vidar said with a smile.
"We lived here before." Viola cut him off, the family turned their attention to her with an unreadable look. "When we were kids." She said briefly.
"Of course." Vidar nodded as his face now broke out into a smile, he gestured to the glasses of champagne that Ran handed out to everyone. "Welcome home." He said as they all took a sip of the bubbly.
Momentarily, they had all taken their seats at the large table.
Viola sat in between Fjor and Laurits despite her wanting to sit with Magne, all though she was irritated with both brothers for two entirely different reasons, she didn't exactly want to sit with Fjor either with what occurred at the diner.
She looked down at her plate in slight disgust and nausea.
"Here we have scallops, sea urchins, lobster, oysters." Ran said pointing between the different sea food before them.
Viola silently prayed they had burgers frying out back or if she had to eat sea food, if they had a chef making sushi rolls in the kitchen that she was unaware of. But to no avail, she was wrong.
"Um, mother, is there any more of the Brazilian shrimp soup?" Fjor spoke up as he nodded to Viola who starred at the food with a questionable look.
"Of course." She nodded as Fjor stood up and went to grab a bowl for the raven haired girl.
"You don't like sea food?" Ran asked Viola who looked up at the blonde.
"Um, no, it's alright. Just a picky eater." She shrugged.
Laurits nodded, "She's always been like that since we were kids." He said as Viola spared him a glance, he frowned ever so slightly before biting into his lobster.
"Here." Fjor whispered placing the bowl in front of her, as his mother explained more about the food before them. "It's mainly seasoned vegetables and the only thing that's different about it is the shrimp." He said as she eyed the bowl that looked some what satisfying. "It's good, trust me."
Viola glanced over at him before picking up her spoon.
"Pass me the lemon." Fjor asked Laurits who did as asked.
"Unbelievable that you weren't injured." Vidar spoke up from the head of the table. Viola, Laurits and Magne looked over to the man. "I saw that traffic accident you were in. It was insane. I was certain you died." He said cracking his lobster in half.
"It's a good thing we're built strong in our family." Magne said recalling their mother's words.
Vidar ripped open another Lobster leg.
"So what happened to you?" Fjor joked to Laurits who flipped him off, Fjor smiled. He looked to Viola who ate her soup silently, "I know now's not a good time, but I wanted to talk to you about the diner." He said as she glared at him.
"You mean how you let your sister and friends take the piss out of me and Gry? Save it." Viola turned her attention back to the table as Saxa looked between the two as Ran spoke with Magne.
"I should have said something, I just didn't know what to say--"
"How about changing the subject, or I don't know telling them to shut the fuck up?" Viola snapped, Vidar looked over to the two who bickered quietly.
"I regret it, and I am sorry, but if you did sleep with that pig--" He said with an underline of bitterness to his tone.
Viola slammed her spoon down on the table, startling everyone who looked at the two in question. "Sorry, um, may I have some water please?" She asked with faux smile as Ran nodded passing her the glass jug.
Fjor sighed through his nose and chewed on his food.
"Our own local lamb." Vidar announced as Ran held out a cutting board filled with meat, Magne took two pieces.
"Have some more." Ran urged him and he did as told. "I like men with an appetite." She said with a smirk, Viola gagged on her water.
Soon after Vidar placed a large chunk of meat onto everyone's plate, "Now for the main corse, red meat."
Viola starred down at her plate, it had no sides. No vegetables, rice, a salad? She frowned starring at the bloodied chunk of meat before her, she wondered if the family had ever heard of pizza or tacos, it made her slightly insecure as the food before her screamed wealth, where as if they had stayed home tonight it would have been pizza from their local bistro.
Magne on the other hand, opposite of his sister, wore a look of excitement.
It was truly going to be a long night.

so the amulet is the same as it is in the gif above, it does what the stone claims; so protection, healing, focusing when it comes to psychic abilities. in other terms keeping viola calm and having control over her abilities; as we've seen her lose control a few times, her abilities will be revealed later on but you can see some so far.
there'll also be more on why Sif had the necklace and why it's so alarming to the everyone in the Jutul family except for Fjor . .
โข why do you think fjor isn't surprised she has it?
