𝓚atherine Collins had moved several times in her short life, most of the time it was a forced move, but she didn't mind, she liked visiting new places and discovering new things. This time however, the situation was different, she wasn't anymore the same little girl full of happiness and ready for new adventures, this time she was alone, her parents were no longer at her side nor her sweet grandmother. They had all died before her eyes, and taken that part of Kat with them.

The girl with long blonde hair looked up from her nails hearing the sound of footsteps coming in her direction. "Sorry to keep you waiting," said a man with amber skin. "No problem," Kat replied cordially, standing up while draping a backpack strap over one shoulder. "Come on," he said, starting to walk through the empty halls of Beacon Hills High School, "so you were saying you're from New Orleans?"

"Relatives on my mother's side are, I was born in Chicago, but. . . I would say yes, I lived there for a while," she cut short, realizing she was starting to talk too much, sometimes she exaggerated and became excessively talkative. The man nodded as he approached a closed door from which muffled voices could be heard. He opened the door before knocking, drawing the students' eyes towards them.

"Morning' guys, sorry for the interruption, I want to introduce you to our new student, Katherine Collins, please try to make her feel at home," the school counselor looked at the class before bringing his gaze to the blonde who was looking around, "if you need anything you know where my office is, I wish you a good stay in our school." Kat nodded, returning the smile of encouragement the man gave her.

The blonde looked around for an empty seat, all eyes were still focused on her, this made her very anxious because she had never particularly liked catching attention, it was something she had always hated. She could feel strange sensations in this classroom, something non-human in there, near her. One boy especially had caught her attention, he did nothing but stare at her even after she sat down. . . where she was almost certain of being a werewolf. But he also felt the presence of another supernatural being, something evil as yet unidentified.

"Excuse me, but this is my first day here, I don't even know what topic you're talking about, don't you think it's too exaggerated to make me take a test?" the blonde asked, disconcerted, looking at the paper that the man with glasses had just placed in front of her, he didn't even know her name. "I don't care if you're here now," he replied continuing to hand over the tests, Kat glared at him making an idea pop into her head. It was risky, but she didn't mind doing it. She tried to focus all her thoughts on the professor's horrible glasses. "Explode," she whispered, moving a hand under the table trying not to be noticed, even though the suspected werewolf had probably heard her.

The glasses shattered into a thousand pieces flying everywhere, while the man stood in perplexed silence, "what the hell!" he exclaimed, taking off his black frame, the blonde grinned with satisfaction, looking around, everyone was laughing, "It was probably the heat stress," she replied, raising an ironic hand. Harris and a boy ran out of the classroom, when the two left the strange evil aura was gone. Kat frowned, looking at the void where the boy had disappeared, "strange," she thought, having a bad feeling.

"It was you?" the witch closed the loker at the sound of the voice unknown to her. As soon as she turned towards the sender of the voice, she raised her eyebrows finding herself in front of the boy who was staring at her in class, next to him was a shaved boy. "Sorry?" she asked, looking at them, acting confused. "You know, Harris' glasses," now she was sure, there was something strange about that boy, she was close to him she could perceive him better, he was a werewolf but. . . Stronger like an Alpha and if he is an Alpha he could definitely tell her where the person she was looking for is.

"I'll answer your question if you answer mine," the blonde offered, crossing her arms over her chest. The two boys glanced at each other before approaching and confronting each other, putting a hand over their mouths to try not to make her understand what they were saying. "I accept," the werewolf nodded looking at her, the girl smiled victorious, "great, do you know where I can find Derek Hale?" she asked her question, leaning her back against a locker for stability. From the reaction of the two boys it could be deduced that they knew the answer, but they didn't want to tell her, they shook their heads repeatedly in panic, "we don't know who he is!" "We don't know where he is!" they responded in unison, contradicting each other at the same time.

The witch tilted her head looking at them, "I'm not stupid, speak up," the shaved boy stuck his hands in his pockets looking at his friend helpfully, but also suspiciously, "so?" she asked raising her pale eyebrows waiting for an actual answer. "Um. . . Well. . . Yes I know where you can find him," stuttered  the brown-haired boy with messy hair. "Yes, I did it... In class," she admitted, looking at the ground, almost embarrassed. "Wow. . . But how did you do it?" they both asked, widening their eyes in amazement. "First my question, where can I find Derek?" the two exchanged another look, "I think the old Hale mansion," they finally admitted.

"The one that went . . . on fire?" as she pronounced those words they died in her throat, turning into a lump that prevented her from saying anything else.

Run away Katherine, save yourself," a woman's voice reached her ears, she couldn't let her die, but the fire keep increase as did her fear, it was becoming hotter and hotter and less breathable. "It's all my fault, only mine," the girl kept repeating to herself.

"Yes that one," replied the shaved boy to whom she hadn't yet associated a name. "It's a bit complicated. . . But maybe one day I'll show you how I did it," the blonde promised, answering the question the boy had asked her earlier, "I assume we'll see each other in chemistry . . ."

"Scott, and this is Stiles," the wolf replied pointing to his shaved friend.

"Scott and Stiles," she repeated backing away as the boys pointed at each other, Kat smiled at the two as she headed towards her next class, there was something about that Stiles that made her anxious. . . But she still couldn't figure out what. For now she could say that this school was very strange she had even heard of a girl walking around naked in the woods. . . Weird.

After school Kat decided to go to the Hale mansion to visit and talk to Derek, she hadn't seen him for a long time, a long, long time, but she still remembered perfectly the street of the mansion that she once walked every day. Once upon a time when she lived in Beacon Hills she, Derek and Peter had a sort of trio, it was hard not to find them together. But now it was years and years and years that had almost faded into time, when she still had her parents, and life was so much simpler. She breathed a sigh of relief once she arrived without encountering any complications, but the sadness took over when she saw the house completely burned down. . . Like hers. "It's private property," a voice exclaimed in a harsh tone, the blonde turned around hearing the overbearing familiar voice, when she found herself in front of the posed figure of the man her eyes widened as well as those of the raven-haired man.

"Katherine?"

"Derek!"

The two ran towards each other almost sure they were hallucinations, Kat hesitated before hugging him, but unexpectedly he took the first step, holding her in his arms. It could have been a scene worthy of a movie, "you've grown so much!" he exclaimed as he broke the hug. "You've gotten older," the girl commented with a smile, touching his beard. "It's not nice of you," Derek retorted, furrowing his eyebrows ironically, "but, joking aside, why are you here?" he asked, becoming slightly serious.

"I assume you don't know what happened to my family," Derek shook his head looking worried, "they're dead, and it's all my fault," she replied, the man widened his eyes in shock, "when did this happen?" he asked as he nodded for them to go and sit on the partially intact porch. "Three years ago, I was with my grandmother until now... But she died too," she explained sitting on the steps of the house, Derek copied her gesture looking at her, "why do you say it was your fault?"

"One evening, after a very bad fight I lost control and set the house on fire. . . I managed to save myself, they didn't. . . I'm a murderer Derek, I should be in prison!" her vision was slowly becoming blurred due to the tears forming in her eyes, Derek wrapped his muscular arm around her shoulders, "It's not your fault Kat, believe me, everyone loses control and hurts people, it's the bad part of the supernatural," he tried to reassure her, wiping the tear that was wetting her cheek, "it happened to me too."

"With Page . . . was that her name?" the man nodded, "I've already told you, it wasn't your fault, it was Peter who manipulated you, I set the house on fire and everything was passed off as a 'tragic short circuit and miracle child'. It's not fair that they paid with their lives because of me," she replied starting to breathe quickly, Derek slowly moved away immediately understanding what was about to happen, he placed his hands on her cheeks looking into her eyes, she was about to have a panic attack. "Hey, look at me . . . Breathe in and out. You were still too young, you didn't know how to handle your powers yet," he replied , speaking in a firm and decisive tone. Kat nodded, instantly relaxing.

"Speaking of Peter, how is he? I heard he's in a bad situation," the blonde asked, trying to change the subject once she had calmed down completely. Derek raised his eyebrows, "there's a lot I have to tell you about the last few years."

"I have a lot of free time," she replied, looking at him. "Come, let's go to my house, where are you staying?" he asked, getting up and starting to walk. "I spent the night in a hotel. . . I don't know where I'm going tonight."

The werewolf frowned, "you'll stay at my loft."

"I don't want to bother you, I'll find something," Kat quickly replied without hesitation, the werewolf stopped her instantly, "It's decided I won't take no for an answer, I'm the Alpha," he replied in a stern tone, winking but with a smile, Kat opened her mouth to reply but the word she had uttered made her jump, "you're what?" she shouted excitedly and at the same time amazed that she hadn't sensed it before "since when?" she opened her mouth, grabbing his arm.

"Since I killed Peter, who for the record, in turn he killed my sister," he growled softly. "He killed Laura? But I heard he was a vegetable. . . I'm confused," she asked, starting to not understand anything anymore, it was too much information to process at once. "He was, but he healed thanks to the werewolf genes," he explained, "his nurse helped him, then we killed her."

"Did you kill her?" she asked more and more confused, "you and that werewolf from my school? Scott?" Derek nodded with a frown, "how do you know it's a werewolf?" he asked. "My witch powers allow me to sense supernatural beings nearby," she replied, smiling proudly.

"We have arrived," Derek said amazed by what the witches could do, he knew they were strong, but he didn't know they could do certain things, Kat looked up to find herself in front of a tall and ruined building. She smiled, a new chapter in her life began now, and she was more than ready.
