ACT ONE, CHAPTER THREE

' MY BABY '

CLAY couldn't stop thinking about Lexi, he didn't know why, he just couldn't get his mind off of the girl he had met just three days ago.

He just wanted to talk to her more, get to know her.

But as soon as he felt like he had gathered enough courage to text her, his ex-girlfriend's face popped in his mind. 

He stared at the clothes she had given him on his bed, his hand over his mouth while he tried to think about something to tell her to start the conversation. Had it been one of his online and streamers friends he would've just started to spam them, or ask to stream together, but she was not. She was Lexi, a girl he accidentally met and got a crush on, someone who he could see himself spend more time with.

And as if it was fate, he looked down next to him and his cat, Patches, stared right at him. He smiled softly at her, raising his hand to scratch her behind her ears as she purred, leaning in towards his hand. She sat up, going to lay on his lap and when she did, Clay felt his eyes widened. 

Just where Patches was sitting, there was his phone, some messages of random letters were sent to Lexi, who had just answered with a question mark.

Clay groaned, looking down at Patches who only stared at him, belly in the air. He rolled his eyes and with one hand he took the phone and with the other started to pet Patches who purred again. He couldn't believe it, almost two days where he tried to think about what to text her, and this was how it ended.

LEXI honestly hoped that Clay was easily impressed, because her black baggy ripped jeans and green crop top with long sleeves was not her best or most impressive outfit, but it had to do. 

She checked herself in the rearview mirror before getting out of her car and taking out her phone and quickly texting Clay just like he told her to. Almost immediately she saw Clay getting out of the house, smiling at her while his blonde hair almost covered his eyes. She bit her lip to suppress the smile that was about to grow on her face and walked quickly to him.

Without thinking, she wrapped her arms around him in a hug. He tensed but hugged back almost immediately. 

"Hi." She mumbled into his chest, he let out a chuckle and squeezed her tighter.

"Hi." 

They let go of each other and Clay placed his hand on her back, gently pushing her inside the house. She took off her jacket and placed it on the hanger and then they both walked to the couch. The lights in the living room were low, and the tv displayed netflix.

"I thought we could watch a movie or a show, if you're ok with it." Clay suggested, an hopeful look in his eyes. She immediately nodded, smiling when Clay showed her his grin.

"Perfect, do you want to help me make popcorn or you want something else to eat?" He asked and Lexi's eyes widened. "Oh please let's make buttered popcorn, I love them!" She pleaded and Clay laughed, nodding his head.

"Ok you go and search something to watch and I'll be back with the food, m'lady." He teased, faking a bow as if she was royalty. Lexi chuckled and nodded her head "of course, sir. It's a pleasure." She joked, moving towards the couch to take the remote and started searching for a good movie that they both would have enjoyed.

THEY ended up watching squid game, both had already seen it but after Clay told her that he wanted to rewatch it she put it on. Lexi soon discovered he had a strange obsession with it after he mentioned how he had found a game on pc about the show. He then promised he would have shown it to her later, after the show.

But that never happened, because halfway through the second last episode of the show, Clay felt something heavy on his shoulder, and he slightly turned his head just to find Lexi with her eyes closed, obliviously sleeping.

He felt a small smile beginning to grow on his face and just carefully wrapped an arm around her shoulder, bringing her closer to him so she wouldn't be too cold or in an uncomfortable position where her neck would hurt once she woke up.

Fast forward to the end of the show, Patches jumped over Clay's lap, immediately going to smell Lexi as Clay just decided to let her be while he chose something else to watch while he waited for Lexi to wake up. That took less than he expected as he just clicked over the show The 100 Lexi groaned, burying her face in his chest.

He looked down, seeing that Patches was probably the reason why she woke up as the cat was pushing her face in Lexi's stomach, purring loudly. He chuckled, moving his arm from Lexi's shoulders, the girl opened her eyes slowly, making eye contact with him, rolling her eyes when he started to giggle, a small smile on her lips.

She looked down, only now noticing the cat that kept purring over her lap. Lexi immediately sat up, straightening her back and started to pet the cat softly, smiling when she started to lick her hands. "I guess she likes you," Clay mumbled, eyes fixed on his cat. She looked up at him just as he looked at her, they made eye contact and shared a smile. Only when Patches meowed loudly did they break it and immediately looked at the cat.

"What is it baby? Mhm? Are you hungry?" Clay mumbled, his voice sweet and soft as if he was talking to a baby. Patches just licked his hand before looking up at Lexi and pushing her face in the palm of her hand. 

"She likes me more than you." Lexi teased, giggling when Clay mumbled a traitor to Patches when she licked Lexi's hand. She slowly took the cat, placing it on her arms as if she was a baby and kept petting her while she talked with a baby voice, softly scratching her.

Clay smiled, quickly taking his phone out and took a quick photo of them before Lexi let out an aw and he looked up, watching as Patches started to lick her jaw.

Lexi looked at Clay with soft eyes while he only giggled at her, petting Patches with one hand. His other hand slowly made it's way towards hers and, unsure, Clay wrapped his larger hand around her smaller her one. He stole a quick glance at Lexi, suppressing a smile as her cheeks turned a soft pink and she looked at Patches.

And while they both exchanged smiles and what they though were sneaky glances, neither of them realized that this was the start of their story.
But it was impossible to know if they were two lovers from a tragedy or a beautiful fairytale.

i have no idea what I'm writing but ahahah, this chapter has two spoilers that will tell you how the book will end. sadly, yall wont understand what they are but please do share your opinions i think it would be fun lol
