Yes, the series is meant to be read in order. I cannot say this enough, it's not a standalone series where you can skip the first book and read the fourth book first. Because the series is interconnected, the characters from the first book will appear in the following books, so you might get confused about who Carlisle is paired with, and guess what? It is not Esme.

OMG, are Rosalie and Emmett not together?? And neither is Jasper and Alice?? Yes, they are not; none of the Cullens/Hales are together; they have their own OC paired with their own book about their love story. So yes, I cannot stress enough that it is meant to be read in order because if not, you'll be confused.

Or, don't read it in order. That's on you. I don't care. Just think about what you'll be commenting on, and I better not see, "Carlisle's not with Esme?" Cause he is not!

And a separate chapter in each book with the guide.

I have endured so many of the same questions for three years. It's honestly tiring how painfully obvious it is that it has to be read in order. I guess common sense is difficult to acquire nowadays. Hence, I stopped replying to those comments because I also placed in the introduction chapter endnotes of each book that none of the Hales/Cullens are paired with each other and will have their own separate book. Still, I know people have selective reading and skip all of that, start reading the chapters, and then be confused.
