The Tomb Hunt
Once (Y/N) dropped to the ground, she unclipped herself from the rope and walked up to where Layla was. The other girl holding up the flashlight to see in the darkness. She knelt down next to Layla and watched as she drew a pattern in the sand on a statue there.
Steven's loud yell was suddenly heard as he came topping down the drop, landing straight on his back and grunts at the fall. The girls shared a confused glance at this, rising their eyebrows at each other.
"Are you okay?" (Y/N) asked her best friend in concern, as she held out a hand for him to take.
"I'm aces. Yeah." He breathily replied and grabbed the outstretched hand, the girl helping him stand up.
"There you go." She says as she brushes off the sand off his outfit and hair. Smiling slightly seeing his curly hair fall back over his forehead.
Steven cleared his throat, embarrassed as his cheeks flush red. "Ahem. I wish you hadn't seen that."
(Y/N) giggled a little, stroking his cheek with her thumb comforting. The duo completely trying to ignore their aching heart for each other. "It's okay."
"Thank you." He mumbled quietly, looking down at her with his doe brown eyes. "Oh, wow, look at you.." He gushed with adoration.
She smiled brightly, dimples appearing on her cheeks as she glanced up to where her best friend was looking. Her thinking he was looking at the statues behind them, however Layla saw different as she glanced over at the best friends. Seeing Steven's eyes trained on (Y/N), only her. But yet the adult was completely oblivious.
"Oh, yeah, there.. Gorgeous, aren't they? They're just, like.." She says excited, "Been standing guard for centuries."
"Right? Look, I can't even.." He replies also excited, smiling goofily as his love for egypt was coming out. "It's like, if they just sprang to life right now and asked me a riddle for passage, I'd be thrilled. I'd shit myself but I'd be thrilled." He rambles.
(Y/N) snorted at this and shakes her head knowingly, glancing at something else in the room.
"What's this?" Steven asked out loud, shining the torch on a mark on the statue. "Did you do that?" He asked the girls.
"What?" They reply and turn around to the male. The (H/C) haired girl frowning, not knowing what it was but it seemed familiar.
On the other hand, Layla nods her head. "Yeah. It's for our fathers. They would've loved to be here." She gestures to (Y/N) and her.
(Y/N) purses her lips at this, her memory once again foggy with remembering anything about her past.
"Oh, yeah? Big history buff's, are they?" Steven asked, a happy expression shown as he glanced around the room.
"So much worse. Archaeologist's on a mission." She replies as she takes (Y/N)'s elbow to start walking with her who grabs Steven's arm, pulling him along with them.
"And to them it was a dream worth dying for. And they did." Layla says in a pained voice as they walk further into the tomb, shining their torches around.
(Y/N) frowns at Layla's claim, playing with her bracelet out of nervousness. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't remember a single thing.
Steven turns to the girls, mostly amning this at his best friend when he talks. "I'm so sorry." He says in a soft voice.
Layla strained a smile, glancing at (Y/N) who was spaced out. "Yeah. No, it's fine, really. I've still got (Y/N/N) anyway." She says with the nod of her head, herself thankful for finding her best friend who was the only person she counted as family who was left.
"I bet that they'd be positively beaming right now, seeing you two standing in the poof of it." He replies with a reassuring smile.
(Y/N) snaps out of her daze and looks down at the dark hallway, a bad shiver gone through her spine. "Well, it's not such a bad way to go, is it?" She speaks up, making the other two turn their attention to her.
Layla smiles at her, linking their arms together, "Let's find out?" She says and starts to walk with the other girl, Steven automatically following close behind.
"Yeah, let's find out." She muttered with a bad feeling creeping up on her.
The two girls continued to lead the trio down the walkways, seeing that they were going further inside as tree roots were growing out of the walls. The only light source so far was their torches.
"Strange." Steven mumbles, glancing around the area.
(Y/N) and Layla come to a stop when they arrived at more than one wallways. To many to choose from. "It's a maze." The (H/C) haired girl observed.
"It's a-maze-ing." Steven corrected her with a pun, chuckling a little as he took in the surroundings.
"No, she means, there are six paths." Layla butted in.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah. Right. Six paths." Steven says as he goes to where the girls were once standing as they both walk over to the other side, kneeling down as they shone their flash lights at the ground.
"What would they be shooting at?" (Y/N) mumbled concerned as she picks up bullet shells from the ground, sharing a look with Layla.
(Y/N)'s ears perked up hearing her best friend moving around. She glances back at him, to find him drawing a symbol on the sand. She stands up with Layla following behind her.
"This whole structure is a symbol." Steven says as he finishes the symbol, it coming out as the eye of Horus.
"That's the eye of Horus." His best friend comments in awe.
"Yeah. Look at that." He says holding up his flashlight that projected the symbol on the roof. "It's the royal symbol, protection in the afterlife."
"I mean, like, the resources needed to build this thing." Layla spoke amazed as she joins (Y/N)'s side beside the table.
"Her final Avatar was a pharaoh." The (H/C) haired girl says as she shares an excited look with Steven
"Whoa! A bloody pharaoh." He breathes out in awe, a big smile plastered on his face.
"So what? You think it's a map?" Layla asked the best friends.
"Yeah, well.." Steven sallows and looks down at the table, "Right. So, the eye of Horus is also the eye of mind, yeah?" He explains then looks to (Y/N) who continues on.
"Representing the six senses, six points." She points to the air then bings to point at Steven's drawing, "So you got the eyebrow that denotes thoughts. Pupil, sight, obviously." She moves her finger down under the eyelid, "This point here is, uh, hearing. Smell. Touch." She then runs her finger along the spiral of the symbol, "And this long line ending in a spiral is the tongue." She finishes with a confident smile at the pair.
Steven's heart flutteres with pride hearing her know all this, the male falling more in love with her - even more than he already was.
"The Avatar would be Ammit's voice." Layla says after all the information the other girl just gave.
(Y/N) smirked and bumped her shoulder against the curly haired girls, "That's right."
Layla smiles back at the girl then the trio turn to a walkway beside them. All having the same idea when they started walking through the entrance.
The (H/C) haired girl automatically felt a bad feeling wash over her when they walked into a new room. Seeing another table, symbols, drawings and more statues in the place.
"Oh, wow." Steven exclaims in awe.
"Oh. Heka priests." Layla comments as she shines her flashlight on the wall, seeing painting on it. "Judging by their masks and ceremonial stance. They would've been entombed in here to protect the pharaoh."
"The heck's a Heka?" Steven asked, shining his light on the wall also, the male standing close to the uneasy (Y/N).
"Sorcerers of their time. They've been down here for centuries. These must be some of the unlucky souls who crossed their path." Layla answered as she scanned the statues with her torch.
"Right. An impressive send-off." (Y/N) mumbles, her eyes watching her best friend move over towards the ancient table full of hieroglyphics.
Steven suddenly gags, a hand covering his mouth. "Oh, my god. Oh, god. Is that fresh blood?"
His best friend walks over to him alarmed, looking at the table to indeed see fresh blood. Layla on the other side using her light to see the table.
"Isn't that little chunks of meaty bits?" The male continued his panicking.
(Y/N) grimaced, "Oh, yeah."
"Let's keep moving. Yeah." Layla states as she shares a uneasy look with the other women.
Just as (Y/N) was about to move, Steven's hand grasped her wrist, stopping her from walking any further. His best friend turned around confused, for her to see blood on the ground making her eyes go wide.
"Um, just a minute. Just a minute." He rambles, the trio now seeing blood trailing down the path they needed to go. "I'm just saying what I see, and I see lots of bones and blood going that way. So I'm just thinking, like, what if there's maybe another.." He trails off as he pulls (Y/N) with him, glancing around the room with his light for another way out. "There's an opening up there. You two see that?" He tells them and shines the light on what he was talking about.
"Yeah." They both answer him.
"Should we check it out?" Steven asked.
"Yeah, you two go up." (Y/N) says as she gestures between her best friend and Layla.
Steven frowns at this, wanting her to be safe first. He was going to protest but stopped seeing her hard stare. "Yeah, all right." He sighs and then makes his way over with Layla following behind. The male getting up first then Layla next, (Y/N) stood at the bottom in case one of them fell.
"All right, yeah. We did it. We're up." Steven informs his best friend, giving her a thumbs up.
"You guys good?" She asked, trying to see their faces as the wood planks were blocking her view.
Steven's head peeked over the platform slightly and nodded his head in a cute way, "Yeah."
She smiles seeing this and listens to the male talking who was looking at the text on the wall, "So, according to the ancient texts, Ammit should be bound to an usabit, those statue thingies."
"How's it looking?" (Y/N) asked from on the ground, seeing the two moving around with their flashlights.
"It's looking amazing." Steven replies back in giddynes, "I mean, this.. it looks like a freshly filled canopic jar and snake skins, and self-regeneration.." He rambles on, listing the things on the table.
The (H/C) haired girl chuckled a little, "Steven? The exit." She gently reminds and points to it as Layla was already glancing around for it.
Steven nods his head shyly, embarrassed he got off track and started following along with Layla, looking for the exit. "Yeah, yeah, we ca go this way." He calls out to his best friend, seeing a place for them to all go through.
Suddenly gun firing is heard in the distance making the trio's heart drop, them all freezing in alarm.
"Harrow." Layla muttered, knowing it couldn't be anyone else in here with them.
"What are they shooting at?" Steven asked, panic filling his voice as (Y/N) was still on the ground where the firing was and wasn't safe up with him.
"I don't know." (Y/N) says in a shaky voice, looking towards the ground entrance just as weird clicking noises were now heard.
"Hide. Hide!" The british male whispered yells down to his beloved, cursing himself for putting her in this situation.
She follows his instructions and hides at the base of the table, away from whatever was coming into the tombs room. The clicking noise continues, it now becoming closer to the room. A sudden thump on the table made her squeeze her eyes shut, the thump sounding like a body as the unknown thing was now in the same room.
(Y/N) flinch slightly as the sound of metal was picked up and another thump as heard, as well as a gasp — coming from a human. The human groans in pain which spikes the hiding girls anxiety.
Her eyes direct to where a blue hand of sorts places something in a canopic jar, her breathing picks up realising that this was a Heka priest alive and well, the clicking not stopping.
Steven's feels like his heart is in his throat as he watches his best friend slowly move around the table, away from the creature.
(Y/N) tries not to make any noise when she hears squelching sounds, keeping her breath steady as she quietly makes her way around the otherside of the table. All though this didn't last long when she by mistake bumped a canopic jar over, it making a loud thud as she was quick to hold it steady.
Feeling her body tremble she starts to move again. As she does this, the Heka priest clicks loudly as if sensing her presents. The creature steps out to where (Y/N) once was, seeing her no longer there, the girl still moving carefully — wanting nothing more to feel Steven's or Marc's protective arms around her.
Steven places his hand over his mouth, releasing a frighted noise watching (Y/N) and this made the floorboards creak loudly as he moved back.
The Heka priest makes an angry noise and jumps onto the table, the floor boarding thumping from the jump. It clicks loudly, trying to find Steven who backs away slowly with Layla who was also panicked about the situation, wanting her family member safe.
The creature then suddenly jumps blow the top floor boards, now seeing the hiding duo and snarls aggressively at them.
Steven yelps and stands up straight, gasping loudly in alarm watching the egyptian creature jump its way up to him. Its clawed hands holding onto the floor, scaring the poor male more.
(Y/N) grunts in anger at this, clenching her jaw and ignored her shaky body, she made an white energy ball appear in her palm, getting up into a squat position and chucked the energy at the wall opposite to her. Hoping to get the things attention away from her best friend.
The curly haired male yelled out at the loud noise her power made, it breaking some of the wall because of the hit.
"Run! Run, Steven, Layla!" She yells out in a hurry, scrambling to her feet seeing the priest now heading for her.
"(Y/N)!" Steven yelled back in anguish, not wanting to leave her alone as Layla started pulling him away, despite the male's resistance. "I'll find you!" He yelled once again, however this time he yelled a promise. His heart broke realising he had to abandon her as he gave one last feeble glance at her and pushed the table down in hopes to stop the creature from getting his beloved.
(Y/N) swallows her panic and starts sprinting through the dark hallway of the tomb, trying to escape the creature after her. Coming to a hard stop when she almost went face first into the dark abyss of a huge hole in the ground.
