Changing The Skies
The trio eventually found a car with (Y/N) driving, Layla in the back with Marc in the front with his fiance. The (H/C) haired girl was shocked to find all her wounds healed up, that there was no scratches anywhere on her body.
"Aye." Marc sighed, looking at his destroyed jacket. "I really liked that jacket. Oh, well." He complained as he chucked it next to Layla in the back seat.
(Y/N) glances at Layla to see her resting, so the girl gripped the steering wheel tighter and went to ask Marc, "What was Harrow talking about?"
He takes a quick look at her, furrowing his eyebrows. "What do you mean?" He asked in a quiet voice as he takes off his shirt to change.
"He said me and Layla had a right to know." She replies, swallowing hard seeing his bare tan chest and necklace.
"I have no idea." He says while turning to the back seat, trying to find his clothes. (Y/N) flushed slightly seeing his muscles tensing, a burning sensation started growing in the pit of her stomach.
"I never told anyone else but Steven about my memory loss, I mean, but he knew, he just saw right through me." She states with a shaky voice, trying to focus on the road instead of Marc's gorgeous body.
He shakes his head, "He's just trying to mess with you." He goes back to his seat after finding his white hoodie, "You know, he's trying to get in your mind. No, don't let him do that. You know, he's got this idea that he can see the true nature of people or some baloney like that. If that were true, I don't think he'd have a bunch of homicidal maniacs as his disciples, would he?" He rambles his answer, looking at (Y/N) now with his dark eyes.
"So, it's not true? What he said about you and.." She trails off.
"No, no. It's not true." He exclaims quickly, "No, he's just trying to divide us. Don't let him get in your head."
(Y/N) just smiles sadly, keeping her eyes on the road. "You know? Ever since you started showing up, I've been told so many things that I didn't even know myself." She starts talking, her voice wavering. "And now I got bloody powers that I can't control." Tears start forming in her eyes, remembering how she killed those people before and how she lost control almost. "I don't even know who I am anymore."
Marc's heart clenched hearing her words, paining him knowing that he caused this. "I.." He stuttered for words, shutting his eyes to keep his tears at bay when he couldn't find the words. His ring feeling extra heavy on his finger.
Only love could hurt like this.
She just sniffled quietly, continuing to drive knowing he wasn't going to answer. Both their hearts longing for answers, for each other, though there were to many things in the way. To many opticals that stopped them from being together.
For the rest of the drive its quiet, until they made it further into the desert, in a little place between the sand dunes.
"Try that." Marc says handing Layla a piece of the puzzle as (Y/N) watches, helping the other girl out away from the male.
"Maybe, actually." Layla prompts, using sticky tape to place them together on the trunk. Taking another one out of (Y/N)'s hand to place it down with the others.
"Uh.. no. Anything else?" Layla asked, not seeing the pattern in the pieces they placed together.
"I'm not getting any whole constellations. It's just little pieces of fragments." He slams his hands down on the trunk, startling the girls.
Marc sighs heavily, throwing his arms up and walks to the other side of the trunk, leaning his arms on it. "This is gonna take forever." He runs his fingers through his curly hair.
"Marc, we need Steven." (Y/N) asked in a small voice, avoiding eye contact as Marc places a hand over his mouth, thinking.
"He understand this better than me. I really think it's worth giving him a shot." She continues explaining
"I summon the gods, you summon the worm." Khonshu's deep voice talked making (Y/N) smile a little, seeing him kneeling on top of their car. "He won't return the body."
"Marc, we can't wait. It's okay, just let go." Layla tells him while (Y/N) nods her head, playing with her bracelet.
Marc grunts and gets frustrated, ripping off the left mirror off the car. He really didn't wanna do this, knowing Steven would be near (Y/N) again.
He sighs and collects the pieces in his hand, walking a bit away from the confused girls. He lifts up the mirror and stares into it, "All right, go ahead. You're in." Marc's normal harsh expression change into something softer.
"Cheers, thanks a lot." Steven's british accent was back, the male now incontrol. "All right. Yeah." He nods to himself and kneels down to start placing the pieces together.
(Y/N)'s heart speeds up seeing this, she glances at Layla who gestures with her head to go over. The (H/C) haired girl gulps, slowly making her way over to the male.
"Don't need that. I don't need that." She hears him mutter to himself as she quietly kneels next to him, her heart pounding rapidly.
"Steven?" She says his voice above a whisper, making the male immediately turn to her voice.
He looked into her eyes with his puppy-dog expression, filed with adoration and her stomach erupted in butterflies seeing it. The two continue to glance at each other, unknownence to them they started leaning in slightly.
"Egyptians invented modern navigation." Steven's voice knocked (Y/N) out of her daze as he ripped a piece of tape with his teeth, placing it onto the fabric. "There's not a lot of landmarks in the desert. So they came up with a way to get about using the sun and the stars. It's bloody genius, isn't it?"
"Yeah." She muttered quietly, watching her best friend work with soft eyes.
"Et voila." He says to her once he finished, seeing a star shape in his hands. His eyes staying on her as she reached out to touch it.
"Whoa." She gasps in awe, smiling widely at this work.
"It's French." He tells her in a gentle voice as (Y/N) babbles with laughter, making Steven's heart flutter in his chest hearing the beautiful sound.
"I know." Her laughter dies down when their eyes met, herself feeling butterflies coming back at his tender look he was watching her with. She clears her throat, "So, what do we do with it?" She asked just as Layla now came over.
Steven is silent for a minute, "Well, I'm not sure, but if.." He trails off as they both stand up and the star was under the light, making him freeze. "Wait, hang on a minute. You see that? You see those little pinpricks there?" He asked, pointing to the dots on the material. "That's a constellation."
"We should be able to triangulate the stars into coordinates, right?" Layla asked as she puts a device behind it and scans. "Let me just scan it."
"Well, um, actually.. Unfortunately, it's not that simple." Steven tells her.
"Not working. Why isn't it working?" Layla asked as she looked at the device.
"Yeah, yeah, you see, Senfu marked that tomb, like, 2,000 years ago. And stars drift over time. Not much as far as stars go, but it could mean the difference between us searching miles away from where we're supposed to be looking. So unless we know exactly what sky looked like on that date, we're buggered." Steven explains to (Y/N) and Layla.
"I remember that night." Khonshu's voice was back making the best friends turn to see him on top of the sand dune, "I remember every night."
(Y/N) looks back at Layla and points to where the god was. She then looks at Steven who grabbed her hand and the two of them made there way up the sand, Layla following behind. They reach the top and see no god, only miles of sand and desert.
"Khonshu?" (Y/N) and Steven both call out.
"I can turn back the night sky." Khonshu's voice filled the air.
"How?" She asked cautiously.
"It will come at a cost, and I cannot do it alone." Just as the god says that, the wind starts picking up making the (H/C) haired girls hair blow in her face.
"(Y/N), Steven, when the gods imprison me, tell Marc to free me." Khonshu says from behind them.
(Y/N)'s eyes went wide a little, worry filling her face. "You sure this is a good idea?"
If Khonshu had real eyes, they surely would of soften at her question. He then just nods his head, "Do not worry, girl. I will be fine."
She just purses her lips and sighs. Not point in worrying when he just said he would be fine. The god places his arms out wide just as the wind picks up again and Steven's suit then covers his original clothes.
"Do what I do." Khonshu tells the best friends, as they both follow along and (Y/N) now has white energy wisps coating her hands in the air.
"Yeah? Like this?" Steven asked as the sky started glowing a dark purple, the stars lighting up more.
Khonshu groans just as the sky starts to spin in a one way circle, slightly making the girl dizzy watching it.
"Oh, man! This is mental." Steven exclaims as the duo and Khonshu are moving the skies constellations.
The skies of Cairo are now filled with colourful lights as they look up to see it traveling through the nighttime sky.
A car stops and a window is put down to show Arthur Harrow looking up at the sky.
"This is the night." Khonshu grunts out as rumbling is heard when the sky comes to a stop.
"This is surprisingly painful." Steven groans and (Y/N) mentally agreed, her straining her strength with holding her white energy in the air, making the sky freeze where it is. She grits her teeth and her eyes glow white, pushing more power in.
"It's working." Layla informs them as she places the device in front of the sky, it now picking up the coordinates.
"You brought this upon yourself, Khonshu." Arthur mutters from inside his car while all five gods in the temple start to chant in coptic and formed in a circle with their hand linked with one another, a purple glow similar to (Y/N)'s in between each of them and one stone figure forms from the ground.
Khonshu then falls to his knees, alerting (Y/N) who was barely standing up also, "I can feel my energy leaving me." Steven strains out as his masks comes off his face. The god behind them continues to get weaker and the other gods get closer to completing their chant.
"Oh, god, I don't know how much longer we can do this." (Y/N) says through clenched teeth, hearing Khonshu groan loudly, most likely in pain
"Coordinates found, 29 degrees north, 25 east." A computerized voice says from Layla's device. She repeats what it said to the group making Steven gasp and let his hand down as all the gods just finish their chant.
(Y/N) gasps seeing her best friend fallen. Her white energy disappearing as she kneels down and wraps an arm around Steven's middle half, trying to help him up. Her eyes widening seeing Khonshu disappearing also.
Suddenly Steven's body jolts forward, the male blacking out and landing face first unconscious on the sand.
"Steven!" (Y/N) cries and she was quick to kneel next him, pulling his body over so his face faced her. "Steven? Marc?" She stuttered a plea, tears building up fast hearing no response from the male.
"Steven..Marc.." Tears started rolling down her face, her heart dropping in her chest. She used both hands to cup his face, running one hand over his curly locks, while the other rubbed his check, "My love.." She whimpered, her lips trembling as she leaned her forehead against his. Her tears running down onto his cheeks as she continued to call out her boys names. Desperate for them to open their brown eyes she fell in love with.
She pressed her trembling lips against his cheek, leaving it there while little cries escaped her mouth, not knowing if he would be alright or not.
