She made her way to her room, opening and shutting her bedroom door before coming to a stop when she spotted Addison sitting on her bed. Addison looked up, instantly standing upon spotting her sister. "I was hoping you would come home tonight." Addison whispered.
Wren nodded. "Well, here I am."
Addison moved and stood right in front of her. She grabbed Wren's hands. "Wren, look at me." Wren hesitantly listened. "You are always going to be my sister, okay? I don't know how, but somehow I'll find a way to stay in contact with you. This is the hardest decision I've ever made, but it feels right. This feels right. And if they will let me visit, you know I will. You're so important to me." Tears filled her eyes. "I don't want us to fight or be mad at each other. I want us to be okay. I don't think I could leave if we weren't."
"Even if it meant leaving the aliens stranded here?" Wren mumbled.
"Even then." Addison nodded. "You come first. You have and always will come first every time. But we're older now. We both have to start living our lives, even it means we have to go our separate ways. I mean, you're the leader of a wolf pack, Wren!" Addison smiled. "And I finally found out my heritage. Our destiny's our waiting for us, and your involves the wolves and Wyatt, and mine involves being with my people. Don't you think it's fair to at least try out these paths?" Wren nodded.
Addison pulled her into a hug and Wren tightly hugged her back, burying her face into the crook of her sisters neck. "Words can't even begin to describe how much I care about you and how much I love you."
"I love you so much, Addi. Thank you for letting me be a part of your family."
Addison smiled, hugging her tighter as she closed her eyes. "Always."
After a few minutes of just hugging each other, the siblings finally pulled away. "You know, Zed's going to want to come with you."
"I would love that."
Wren softly chuckled. She looked at her bed before nudging her sister. "Sleepover? For old times sake?" Addison smiled brightly and nodded. They climbed into Wren's bed and Wren allowed a gentle smile to pull on her lips. "Goodnight, Addi."
Addison softly smiled back. "Goondight, Re."
The next morning, Wren stood in Addison's room and helped her pack. Addison placed a shirt in her bag and Wren looked over her shoulder just as their parents walked in. "Addison, Wren, there's something I have to share with you." The two sisters turned to look at their mother. "I should've done this years ago. I just wish I was as strong as you." She reached up and revealed her blonde hair was wig, revealing her true white hair that was underneath.
"You're beautiful, mom," Addison whispered.
Tears filled Missy's eyes. "Oh, sweetheart." She walked forwards and gave Addison a hug.
Dale stepped forwards. "And I don't care what planet you come from." He looked at Wren. "Or what part of the forest you were born in. You're still my family." Wren couldn't help the small smile that pulled on her lips. That's all she'd ever wanted from him. To feel accepted. And now, she finally was. Dale waved a hand. "No. No, you can't leave, Addison. I'll mobilize the whole Z-Patrol to stop you. Please, it's―︎"
"I'm sorry, Dad." Addison shook her head. "But this is what I was meant to do." Addison hugged them both before grabbing Wren and pulling her into the hug as well. Addison finished packing her suitcase and walked out of the house with Wren at her side. A-lan, A-li, and A-spen beamed down in front of them.
A-li stepped forwards. "With the reactor damaged, there is a 67.9% chance that we will not have enough energy to leave orbit."
Wren closed her eyes. "This is my fault." She looked at the three aliens. "I'm sorry for ruining your ship. I just, I didn't want you to take away my sister."
"We will still try." A-lan said, giving Wren a nod. "The longer we wait, the worse our odds."
Addison nodded. "Okay."
The cheer team appeared and walked up to them. Bree stood in front, holding out her pompoms to Addison. "Thank of me when you use them." Tears clouded her vision. "They're supposed to shake, not me."
Addison frowned and quickly hugged her. "I'll miss you, bestie."
Bree pulled away. "I'll miss you, extra-terestie."
Addison took the pompoms and looked at her cheerleaders. "We are the mighty shrimp. Couldn't be prouder."
The cheerleaders finished, "And if you can't hear us, we'll cheer a little louder."
That's when Zed showed up and Addison closed her eyes, setting her pompoms on top of her suitcase. "I don't want to leave, but the aliens needs to find their home."
Zed nodded. "Yeah, I know." He smiled and held up his duffel bag. "Which is why I'm coming with you!"
Addison smiled widely. "What?!"
A-lan shook his head. "It is impossible, Zed."
A-spen continued, "Only our species is capable of space travel on the Mothership."
"You'd be fried by our stardust energy in a minute." A-li finished.
Zed sighed, looking at his girlfriend. "I was afraid we would be separated by a couple hundred miles when you went to college."
Addison held out a finger. "Now we'll be galaxies away." Zed touched his finger to hers and quickly pulled away when he got shocked.
"Core reactor shutting down." Mothership informed. "Emergency systems activated."
"We must leave now," A-li warned.
"Even with our stardust depleted, we must risk it." A-lan quickly agreed.
The sound of a horn beeping and wolves howling grabbed their attention. Wren furrowed her eyebrows as she watched Bonzo driving a truck that had something on the back that was covered up with a brown tarp. Willa and the rest of the pack were making their way towards them.
Bree ran forwards. "Bonzo! You got your license!" She smiled and placed one hand on her hip and waving the other. "Show off!" Bonzo threw a thumbs up.
A-li started forwards. "My rage will not be contained! You will not stop us from getting to Utopia!"
Wren scratched the back of her head, but didn't move from her spot beside Addison. "Hey, can you, like, not threaten my pack?"
Wyatt glanced at Wren and smiled before looking at the three aliens that had approached them. "We're actually here to help."
A-li furrowed her brows. "You can find an infinite power source to recharge our ship?"
"Wolves!" Willa called. The wolves pulled back the tarp, revealing the moonstone. "We'll let you borrow our moonstone." Wren's mouth parted.
Wynter smiled. "Thought you might need a jump-start."
"The moonstone is powerful, but it's harmful to our people." A-lan claimed.
Eliza's robot pulled up beside them. "Not if you have an adapter. We just have to filter the moonstone power through our Z-bands."
A-spen looked around in surprise. "You all would sacrifice to help us?"
"Wolves always have each other's back, and Addison's part of our pack. Forever." Willa answered.
Wyatt added, "And she's also our leaders sister and we would like to not die by her hands. Have you seen Wren when she's angry?" Wren rolled her eyes and scoffed while Addison chuckled beside her, nudging her with her elbow.
"Transport us up, Mothership. All of us."
Instantly they were all transported onto the ship. Wren looked around. "Whoa. . . this place is kinda cool."
Wyatt stood beside her. "I know, right."
"Thank you for coming through." Wren said, glancing at Willa. "There's a reason you're my second in command."
Willa smiled and shrugged her shoulders. "I knew it's what you would've wanted, she's your sister, and she's our friend. It was the right thing to do."
Wren nodded before glancing around before she smirked. "Wolves, let's get to work."
people were running everywhere, connecting wires to several places. Wren and Wyatt were connecting the adapters to Eliza's robot. Wren placed the adapter cable on the moonstone whilst Wyatt connected it to the robot. It sparked and Wyatt and Wren quickly moved backwards. Wyatt looked at Eliza on the screen. "I told you, wolf tech doesn't play nice."
"Then we're going to need an organic conduit between the moonstone and the Mothership." Eliza answered.
Wren sighed, placing her hands on her hips. "And where, pray tell, would we find one of those?"
Some of the cheerleaders and the aliens entered the room along with Willa and Wynter. A compartment came up from the floor and A-lan connected the adapter to it. "Only our people can connect to the ship's stardust reactor. But unfortunately the moonstone's power is lethal to us." He looked at Addison. "But your being half human might just work. You'll be a living bridge."
"Might?" Wren asked. "I don't like 'might'."
"Addison can do it." Willa nodded.
"Yes, she's an alien." A-spen agreed.
Bree added, "And a cheerleader."
"And a part of our pack." Wyatt confirmed, grabbing Wren's hand.
Zed looked at his girlfriend and nodded. "You were born for this."
"If my sister dies, so is everyone else." Wren piped up. "Just so we're clear." Wyatt looked at her with a raised brow. "What? I'm not good at the positive thing."
"Ready?" Zed asked and Addison nodded before grabbing both adapters. Electricity ran through her body and Addison cried out. Wren went to run forwards but Wyatt quickly held her back. For a moment, it was working, but then one of the pieces flew from Addison's hand and the entire ship went dark.
"I couldn't hold on!" Addison cried. "It's too much power!"
"We must reestablish the connection now or all will be lost!" A-lan urged.
Zed quickly ran forwards and picked the other piece up off the floor. "Take my hand. The power can flow through me."
"You'll be fried in a minute!" Addison argued.
"It's gonna be okay," Zed softly assured. Addison closed her eyes before quickly grabbing his hand. Electricity ran through both of them.
Wren turned away, burying her face into Wyatt's neck. "I can't watch." This went on for a long moment, an extremely long moment, at least to Wren, and when they both dropped the pieces, Wren carefully turned her head and let out a breath when she saw they were both still standing. The ship suddenly came back to life.
"We're at full charge!" A-spen called. They all cheered. She went over to the controls. "We must launch now."
"Go!" Wren yelled and they all quickly started running. Wren came to a stop, ushering everyone else off and watching as Addison and Zed came running around the corner. Wren quickly launched herself into her sisters arms and Addison hugged her back. "I love you."
"I love you too," Addison answered.
Wren forced herself to pull away and walked onto the platform, allowing herself to be beamed down. She stood there with Wyatt, turning her head as Zed was beamed down last. They all stood there and watched as the ship disappeared. Wren walked over to Zed and he looked at her. She grabbed his hand and he tightly squeezed her hand back. "We're gonna be okay, Zed."
Zed didn't pull his eyes from the stars as he nodded. "Yeah."
"You've got me." Wren whispered. "Whenever you need me."
Zed glanced at her. "You've got me too." She gave him a gentle smile before letting go of his hand and walking towards Wyatt. He instantly wrapped and arm around her waist as he and the wolves walked away.
