000.

— BAILEY was only nine years old when she experienced her first storm. She remembers being scared, she remembers how she could barely get to the storm shelter with her aunt.

If it hadn't have been as close as it was, she would've stopped to admire it. Because in reality, the storm was incredible.

That moment she understood why Tyler loved the weather so much—or at least the storms.

He'd been off studying meteorology, he wasn't home a lot. Not since he'd began his new channel, along with his close friend Boone. Both of them being two peas in a pod from the day they'd met.

Bailey was a smart girl, the teachers at her school had always praised that she was gifted. Top of her class, doing high school lever math during her middle school years.

Graduating early, there was nothing else left for her to learn. College's weren't accepting her though, all her early applications had been rejected.

Smart enough to graduate early, but not smart enough for College.

That seemed to bring her down, moping around her aunt's ranch had become a daily thing. She was bored, she wasn't in school and she barely had friends. Unless, you count her dog Beau, but she wasn't sure he really counted as a friend.

After days of watching Bailey mope around, her aunt Mary made a call. Dialing Tyler's number, if anyone could get her out of her slump. It was him.

He was Bailey's hero. She looked up to him.

Tyler was only a state away when he'd gotten the call, immediately packing up and insisting his team go on without him.

He was back home in a matter of two days.

After a long discussion with his aunt, he'd convinced her to let him take Bailey with him. Now, of course, she was wary at first. Taking a teenager out storm chasing wasn't exactly the safest, but she knew Tyler wouldn't have insisted if he thought she'd get hurt in any way.

So, reluctantly, she agreed.

Bailey remembers the day they'd met left, Mary had hugged her tightly. Looking her over as if trying to take in the moment.

"Now, if at any moment you wanna come home. You call me, Bailey-Rae." Her words were stern, but Bailey could see the worry in her eyes.

With that, she hugged Tyler once more before watching as the kids she'd raised left home. Tears clouding her vision once Tyler's truck pulled further and further away.

little side note.
tyler's family isn't really mentioned, so the scene where he was telling Kate about his first tornado with his aunt, i took that and ran with it.
