The soft rays of the morning sun peaked through the fluttering creamy white curtains as its golden glow illuminated the small, but spacious room. With the bed neat and tidy, a soft humming sound resonated throughout the room as a figure appeared behind a mirror, their long hair pulled to the side as (Y/n) brushed her hair slowly.
Her lips were set in a warm smile as she continued to hum a song to herself, her strokes slow and gentle as the brush continued to go through her (h/c) hair. Glancing up to see her reflection (Y/n) frowned, letting go of the brush as she gently set it down on the wooden table. Wrapping her hand around her hair (Y/n) grabbed a hair tie and tied it around the piece of hair, putting it in a loose side-ponytail per Isabella's instructions.
"A loose ponytail," Letting go of her hair (Y/n) looked at her piece of art in the mirror, finding the unfamiliar look to be something refreshing to her. "makes you look more calm and kind."
Feeling someone approaching her bedroom door (Y/n) sighed, checking her reflection one more time before walking towards the door. Once she felt the child in front of the door knocking reached her ears; loud knocking.
"Sister! It's me, Emma! Mama told me you and I were to make breakfast together today!" The cheery voice of Emma reached her ears, a sure smile on her face. (Y/n) put back her warm smile, her hands connected as they rested on top of her clean white apron.
"Emma!" Opening the door (Y/n) looked slightly down at the little child that was only one year younger than her, smiling at her like she normally would. "Good morning, Emma. Please, quiet down. We don't want to wake everyone up now do we?" (Y/n) asked her, giggling in the end as she stepped out of her room and closed the door tightly, grabbing her silver key and locking the door.
Tilting her head to the side, Emma looked curiously at the silver key, but decided not to question it. "Now, let's hurry to make dinner, okay?" (Y/n) asked her, walking in front as she lead Emma towards the kitchen. Not like Emma didn't know where it was.
Nodding her head with a bright smile, Emma followed close behind as she examined her new Sister, finding her new Sister to be quite the special mystery.
"Emma, tell me a bit about yourself. I barely came here two weeks ago, yet I haven't seemed to learn a lot about you." Turning her head around to look slightly down at Emma, (Y/n) looked at her straight in the eyes, seemingly not scared of bumping into something in the way or forgetting her path.
Getting excited by this, Emma nodded her head eagerly. "Sure! Well, my name is Emma, and I like-"
"Sister, good morning." Stopping her walking (Y/n) turned her attention away from Emma and towards the unknown voice, who was none other than Norman awake bright and early, seemingly not minding that it was 7 in the morning.
"Oh," Nodding her head towards him (Y/n) gave Norman her signature bright smile. "good morning, Norman! Never thought of you as an early waker." Chuckling (Y/n) looked back forward only to see that they were already near the kitchen. "Ah, Norman?" Turning her head back around to face Norman, (Y/n) looked down at him.
"Yes?"
"Would you care to join us in making breakfast for everyone? I think it would be quite grand if you decided to join us, because as they say "the more the merrier"!" (Y/n) exclaimed, bringing her hand tightly together as she gave Norman a closed-eye smile. Something that seemed common among the Mamas and Sisters.
Glancing over at the distracted Emma, Norman looked back over at (Y/n) and nodded. "Alright, I suppose it won't hurt." Humming softly at his answer (Y/n) grabbed his hand gently and dragged him with her as she walked over towards the kitchen.
"Well, come on! We must hurry or else all my brothers and sisters will end up hungry!" Laughing (Y/n) continued to drag Norman towards the kitchen, already thinking of different recipes that Mama taught her in her two weeks here in the House.
Blushing at the action, Norman looked down at their intertwined hands, not feeling as to let go just yet. 'Her touch... is so cool, even when it's in the middle of Summer.'
Walking quietly behind the two, Emma stared down at their intertwined hands, her hands clutched together tightly behind her back as she felt an unknown emotion swim around in her pure heart, slowly eating away everything.
'Sister always holds my hand, and no one else's...' Huffing angrily at this, Emma ran over towards (Y/n) and grasped her free hand, gripping it. This surprised (Y/n) as she looked down at their intertwined hands, not expecting Emma to dart up and hold her hand so tightly.
'To think that she has such a powerful grip. It seems like I have to be more expectant on these kids, huh?' Sighing quietly (Y/n) entered the kitchen as she let go of Norman's hand slowly and also tried to do the same thing with Emma only for her grip to tighten.
"Emma, is something the matter?" (Y/n) questioned her, looking down at the reluctant Emma as Norman was now staring at them in confusion. "Emma, what's wrong?" Norman asked her, his figure near the sink as he stared at Emma worriedly.
Emma's eyes widened as she looked back at Norman, and then back at the hand that she was holding. "Nothings wrong, I just really like holding Sister's hand!" Emma replied, smiling brightly back at Norman as she hugged (Y/n) arm.
Chuckling at the action (Y/n) looked back at Norman. "Norman, can you do me a favor and squeeze some oranges?" (Y/n) asked him, Norman nodding as a reply as he went to get where the oranges were kept.
"Now," Gently grasping Emma's hand with her other one (Y/n) looked at Emma in the eyes, her voice stern. "you're going to have to let go of my hand, Emma. Or else the children won't have anything to eat when they wake up. Is that what you want? For your 'siblings' to be hungry?" (Y/n) questioned Emma, her eyes staring intently at Emma as if she was watching her soul.
Looking down at the intertwined hands, Emma sighed, not liking that she had to let go, but did so anyway. "Okay, I'll do it, for my siblings!" Emma exclaimed confidently, letting go of (Y/n) hand reluctantly as she went to grab the plates to set up the tables and the silverware.
(Y/n) nodded, "Very good, go set up the table and I'll go make us breakfast. Remember not to break anything." Turning away from Emma, (Y/n) walked away from her, heading towards where the storage room was to get the ingredients that they would need.
Staring at (Y/n) retreating figure, Emma sighed, looking down at the plate as her reflection reflected back to her, her green eyes staring back at her as a frown could be seen in her childish face.
"(Y/n) loves you, she's your sister, remember that." Emma whispered to herself, her figure still as she continued to look at her reflection on the white porcelain plate. Nodding her head firmly, Emma presided to set up the tables as her Sister instructed her to do, just like a dutiful child would do. An obedient, pure, and ignorant child.
Listening to what Emma just said, Ray continued to stay behind the wall, his stare pointed forward as he seemed to burn holes in the wooden walls. Nodding his head, Ray walked away from his spot, quietly walking away as he preceded to go back to his room only for the cool sensation of a small hand touching his right shoulder.
"Ray, come and help us with breakfast since you're up so early." (Y/n) stated, smiling brightly at Ray as she continued to hold Ray's shoulder firmly. Turning his head around to look at (Y/n), Ray looked at (Y/n) in the eyes with a blank expression, no emotion showing on his face.
"No, thank you. I have to make some preparations for our test today." Ray refused her request, nudging (Y/n) hand away from his shoulder as he continued to walk back to his room. (Y/n) sighed, "Such a pity! I suppose I should help Norman and Emma alone today, as well." Turning away from the still Ray, (Y/n) walked away, a cold smirk on her face.
"On second thought,"
Putting back her regular smile (Y/n) turned back around to face Ray, who was right in front of her, but this didn't seem to faze her, for she didn't see there to be anything to be surprised about. "Yes, Ray?"
"I'll help out."
Smiling happily at his second-thought reply (Y/n) grasped his hand gently. "Then, let's go! We're already behind schedule, so we must hurry. Put those smarts into practice, Ray, and learn more! For knowledge, is food!"
Dragging Ray along with her (Y/n) started singing a soft tune, something that she has sung on her first day here, and as well as something that Ray remembered.
Staring at her back, Ray continued to show no emotion on his face or eyes. No fear reeked off of him, no nothing. If it wasn't for (Y/n) practice for over so many years in the dark, she wouldn't have even noticed him. Though she did.
"Now then, let's begin!" Stepping inside the clean kitchen (Y/n) let go of Ray's hand as she walked over towards where she left the ingredients, picking out the things that they needed first and grabbing a wide bowl and a pan.
"Ray, do you perhaps know how to make pancakes?" (Y/n) asked him, grabbing a spare apron from one of the hooks as she walked over to Ray and put it on him, going around him to tie it from the back gently.
Ray shook his head. Letting go of the apron strings (Y/n) stepped back to admire her work, and smiling unknowingly at it. A genuine smile. Looking away from (Y/n), Ray tried to control his blush as he continued to block (Y/n) stare and instead went over towards the bowl for no reason at all.
Tilting her head to the side (Y/n) regular smile went back on her face as she went to get the ingredients that they needed.
"Okay, we'll need flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, milk, melted butter, one egg, and vanilla extract! Alright, I already have those. Now, my dear Ray," Unknowingly blushing at how she said his name, Ray nodded, urging her to go on.
"You'll be the one stirring, okay? The first time that I ever did something like this, I was so happy! Oh, how satisfying was stirring the batter, it was like nothing else could compare!" (Y/n) beamed, her words odd at how bright their eyes seemed to be when she was talking about stirring batter.
"Well, now on to it! Mix in the flour," Helping Ray with the flour bag, they poured in a perfect amount before heading to the next ingredient. "next is the sugar, then the baking powder, and then the salt!" Looking down that Ray has already done all of that (Y/n) smiled.
"Now mix! I'll do the other one, alright? We can't have the dry ingredients mixing in with the liquid ingredients, now can we?" (Y/n) questioned, grabbing another bowl and spoon as she poured in the liquid ingredients, the butter already being melted by how long it was sitting there.
Once the two mixed in everything, they poured it in with one another, (Y/n) allowing Ray to do the mixing as they set up the stove. Putting the pan above the metal cooktop (Y/n) started to heat the stove.
Glancing over at Ray, (Y/n) saw that he was finally done. "Ray, hand that to me, please." (Y/n) asked politely, stretching her hand out as Ray placed it gently on top of her hand. Putting the bowl next to her (Y/n) swiftly dipped her finger in it and swiped it on Ray's nose.
"Gotcha!" Laughing at what she had just done (Y/n) glanced over at Ray to see him confused before chuckling in amusement. "I see..." Dipping his hand in the batter as well, Ray tried to get (Y/n) only for her to quickly duck right on time, every time.
"You gotta be quicker than that, Ray!" (Y/n) proclaimed, glad that she could get some trust out of Ray. Not knowing of her true intentions, Ray gave her a confident but determined smirk.
"Oh, I will!"
So began the pancake batter war. No one noticed the poor stove.

"Eat up, my dear siblings!" Inside the dining room were all the children, as well as Mama and Sister, sitting down as they enjoyed the pancakes with orange juice that Norman so kindly did. Giving their thanks, the children dug in as they quickly thanked (Y/n), Norman, Ray, and Emma for the food.
Smiling at the sight as she usually does (Y/n) glanced to her side to see Ray sitting beside her, digging in the pancakes that he helped make with (Y/n) as he had a content and happy smile on his face, even though it was small, (Y/n) could still see it. (Y/n) could see all.
Looking to her right (Y/n) saw Norman there with Emma sitting beside him, a pout on her face.
Looking back down at her plate (Y/n) took a chug of her orange juice, trying to ignore the delicious smell that the children were giving off. Oh well, she currently had food in front of her, so I suppose that could hold her back just in time.ย
