"WHAT ARE YOU SMILING AT?" Alice asked as she walked into the living room to see Lindsey grinning at her phone.

Natalie, who had been sitting beside the Harris girl, leaned over and glanced at her phone, answering for her. "She's talking to her boyfriend."

"George?" Paisley questioned, poking her head in from the kitchen with raised eyebrows and a small smirk. Lindsey rolled her eyes because she could not be talking. The Minter girl had been flirting with Harry since she met him.

Lindsey rolled her eyes. "He's not my boyfriend. We were just talking about a video."

"No, you weren't," Natalie countered, and Lindsey looked over to see that she had tilted the phone toward her to read the messages. "You were talking about your trip and how much he likes Australian girls. And then he made a disgustingly horrible joke."

"You guys have been hanging out a lot," Alice argued.

Lindsey turned to her best friend with raised eyebrows. "Well, I could say the same thing about you and Arthur."

"Fair enough," Alice replied, raising her hands in surrender as she exited the argument. She and ArthurTV had been spending way too much time together to just be friends, but she wasn't ready to admit that. Besides, Lindsey did not hang out with George unless it was for a video. It was entirely different.

Paisley interjected, "Yeah, and they're going to get married and have lots of children, just like you could with George."

"I'm done talking about this," Lindsey told them, and she stood up and headed toward her room. In all honesty, she was kind of starting to blush, and that was the last thing she needed them to see. 

Natalie shouted after her, "You're in denial!"

The Harris girl rolled her eyes with a chuckle as she closed her door behind her and tossed her phone onto the bed. All of a sudden, it buzzed, and she practically dove for it to see if it was George. When she saw that it wasn't, she cursed herself.

What the hell was she doing? She had only met this guy a couple of times, and she was jumping at the possibility of a message from him. This was ridiculous, and there was no way that it was happening, anyway. 

She had had a terrible relationship history, and they had all ended terribly, most of them being her fault. George had never had a girlfriend, and even if he was interested in her, there was no way that she would let herself ruin him like she had everyone else. 

She was a forest fire, and she couldn't let it spread to his untarnished woods.

that last line was kinda cringy but whatever. 

sorry i haven't updated in a while. these books have kinda been on the back burner since i'm trying to focus on my other books. i've had a little bit of free time recently, though, so a new chapter for so it goes and lovesong should be out soon!!!
