CHAPTER TWENTY FIVE ━━ beast on the loose

OPHELIA entered Scott's house, alongside Stiles Stilinski. Brett had gone with Lori back home. She had offered the two to stay at her's to heal; which the two didn't hesitate on the offer. Now she was with Stiles who wanted to speak with Scott, Ophelia had told the hazel eyed boy he was with the kitsune. Stiles ignored the red head, and continued entering the house. She didn't want to disturb the couple, but Stiles shrugged it off not caring saying that it was important.

"Kira is with him." Ophelia whispered to Stiles who continued down the hall. She rolled her eyes, the two walking in on the couple kissing. "Told you." She sang out. Stiles rolled his eyes, shutting the door behind him, his cheeks tinting pink in embarrassment.

Malia and Braedon walked over to the two. "What?" Stiles asked Malia, Malia glanced nervously to the two. Stiles raised a brow to the Original who shrugged not understanding either why Malia reeked of anxiety, which was a new scent for her. "What? What did we do?" He asked. Stiles glanced to the Original. "Fine, it was her." He pointed to the hybrid who stood wide eyed to the hazel eyed boy.

"What? I didn't do anything." Ophelia gaped at Stiles who held his finger up accusingly at her, Ophelia slapped his hand away and pointed to him. The two glared at one another.

"Tell them." Braedon rolled her eyes at the two.

Malia sighed nervously. "You know how my mother wants to kill me? I think she might want to kill you. And try to kill you too." Malia spoke to Stiles and then looked to Ophelia.

"Okay, uh, that's disconcerting. Aren't you worried too? I should probably have a gun." Stiles rambled looking to the Original.

"Many have tried to kill me, many have failed." Ophelia shrugged, twirling her hair around her fingers.

"Okay, well, I'm not giving him a gun." Braedon denied.

"You have a gun. The Desert Wolf, who is trying to kill us, has a gun. Ophelia has claws and fangs. So, I think I should probably have a gun." Stiles rambled frantically.

Malia and Ophelia looked to Braedon, who took out her handgun unloading it. She then tossed it over to Stiles who fumbled with heavy pistol, stumbling with the gun, it clattered to the floor. "You shouldn't have a gun." Ophelia shook her head looking to the hazel eyed boy.

"I shouldn't have a gun." Stiles nodded in agreement.

▂▂▂▂

"HOW are you feeling?" Liam asked the Original, glancing down to her abdomen quickly.

"Better, drank some blood, had a goodnight's sleep, considering our friend is our new threat. But other then that I'm okay." She pinched his cheek, the beta blushed and nodded. "What about you?" She asked softly.

Liam shrugged, looking down sadly. "I'm okay, as long as we save him." He mumbled.

Ophelia nodded, "We will." She assured the blue eyed beta.

"Okay, guys. Focus. My dad's got an APB on Mason." Stiles spoke up to the group.

"For a five foot eight, sixteen-year-old?" Kira questioned.

"I recommended nine-foot tall rampaging werewolf." Stiles sarcastically retorted.

"It still might not be him." Liam piped up. Ophelia rubbed his back gently. Furrowing her brows, smelling nerves, looking around the group seeing everyone looking normal, considering. "But Hayden's at the school looking."

"I can keep checking the woods." Malia piped up.

"I'll text Brett and Lori to keep an eye out." Ophelia nodded to the Alpha.

"My mom can check all the hospitals in the county." Scott entered the room. "We can find him."

"What happens then?" Liam nervously asked.

"We figure out a way to save him." Scott nodded.

"Okay. Where else could we look?" Lydia asked.

Ophelia narrowed her eyes, "Let's ask Corey." She turned around and grabbed Corey by the front of his shirt. Cocking her head to the side tauntingly.

"Wait. Wait. It's not my fault. They took him and I couldn't do anything. They took him-" Corey pleaded.

"Who?" Scott asked in frustration.

"The Dread Doctors." Corey looked to the two in worry.

▂▂▂▂

"HOW stupid are we to be doing this?" Liam asked.

"We're not stupid. We're desperate." Scott denied.

"We aren't that desperate." Ophelia muttered. Liam nodded frantically agreeing with the hybrid.

Scott shook his head, the trio walked up to the boys locker room. "Okay, we're incredibly desperate."

"Clearly." She muttered. She opened the door, seeing Tracy and a smirking Theo. Tracy narrowed her eyes at the Original. "Come on love, don't want any wrinkles now do we? Then again you are a walking snake. Literally." She sarcastically smiled. Tracy hissed, Theo pulled the Chimera back.

"Told you we'd end up on the same side." Theo said smugly, smirking to the Original. Who ignored his gaze.

"How about I punch you in the balls to remind you we're not?" Liam narrowed his eyes at the Chimera. Ophelia snorted, quickly covering her mouth. Scott pulled Ophelia closer to him. Theo glared at the duo.

"I love this kid." Theo piped up.

Tracy rolled her eyes. "I don't."

"Well, no one likes you either Jurassic park." Ophelia rolled her eyes, looking down at her manicured nails. Liam smirked at a red faced Tracy Stewart. Theo narrowed his eyes at the beta.

"We know you're not on our side, Theo. You said you wanted to help Lydia. But you left Eichen with something else, didn't you?" Scott asked.

Ophelia's worry filled eyes met with Theo's, who softened his glare. Theo, then looked back to Scott. "You mean the mask?" Theo asked. "Are you worried about that?"

"Did you put it on?" Ophelia asked. The trio looked to Tracy who looked down. "Who did you see?" She asked.

"Not Mason." He shook his head.

"What does that mean? It's not him?" Liam asked frantically. Ophelia grasped Liam's hand. Theo narrowed his eyes at the two.

Tracy rolled her eyes in irritation. "It probably means he's a lost cause." She spoke up smirking to Ophelia. Knowing she'd get some reaction out of the hybrid.

Ophelia let go of Liam's hand, and sped over grasping Tracy by the neck. "I'd shut up if I were you. Unless you do not value your life." She snarled. Tracy clawed at the hybrids hand, gasping. Liam and Scott, rushed over and pulled Ophelia back away from the girl. While she glared at the Chimera, who smirked in return.

"We all want the same thing. We want Mason back." Theo smiled to the pack.

"The difference between us, is that we want him alive." Ophelia spoke up, narrowing her eyes at the Chimera.

"Well, I'm open to compromise." Theo walked up to Ophelia, and smiled to the hybrid, who stepped away from the Chimera. "You still got the map with telluric currents on it?" Theo removed his gaze from the Original to Scott, who nodded. "Bring it to the operating theatre in two hours."

The trio walked towards the door, Theo grasped Ophelia's forearm. Liam whipped around growling lowly to the Chimera, Tracy glared to the Original and Theo. "Can we talk?" Theo looked down to Ophelia's doe eyes.

"We just did." She muttered, shrugging his hand off of her, walking towards her friends out of the locker room. Coming to a halt smelling a familiar scent, furrowing her brows, she shook her head.

"How desperate are we?" Liam asked once again, seething at the two Chimera's.

"Incredibly." Scott muttered.

▂▂▂▂

OPHELIA, Liam and Scott walked into the operating theatre. Scrunching up her nose at the smell of the room. "They called him Der Soldat. That's german for, 'The Solider.' I'm pretty sure he fought in World War II." Theo explained to the trio.

"He was a Nazi." Scott affirmed.

"Strange. How we're working with one." Ophelia mumbled, glancing at Theo, who looked in amusement to the Original.

"And an Alpha werewolf. The Dread Doctors were using him to prolong their lives. They've been doing it for decades. Actually, probably longer." Theo explained.

"How old are these guys?" Liam asked eyeing the container placed in front of them.

"Not that old, If I've never heard of them." Ophelia piped up, tilting her head looking around the room.

"No one really knows. But wherever they go, he goes, too." Theo nodded to the Original, who pursed her lips in a thin line.

"So how do we find him?" Liam asked Theo.

"Keeping him alive requires pretty unique set of conditions. There's got to be a power source and it has to be underground-" Theo further explained.

"And on a telluric current." Scott affirmed handing Theo the map.

"Looks like we're going for a hike." Theo smirked to the trio. Ophelia frowned looking down at her heeled boots.

▂▂▂▂

THE four trudged through the woods, behind Theo. Ophelia grumbled looking down seeing mud littering the tips of her boots. "Where is he?" Scott asked.

"Thought we were looking for him?" Theo asked nonchalantly, knowing who Scott really was referring to.

"You know who I'm talking about." Scott muttered. Theo glanced to Ophelia who looked down at her boots, nearly tripping over a log. Theo rushed over to help the Original. Only to be shoved away by Liam, who held the Original up. Nodding a 'thanks' she walked ahead of the group. Liam smirked to the angered Chimera.

"Deucalion?" Theo asked, removing his eyes from the beta, to Scott. "You shouldn't trust him." Scott shook his head.

"And you're the one who let him live." Theo retorted.

"I'm not a murderer." Scott remarked.

Ophelia looked down at her hands, shrugging Scott's comment away. Theo glanced to the Original, sensing her discomfort. "You still think you're gonna get through all this without killing anyone?" Theo asked in disbelief.

"I didn't say that." Scott denied. The trio looked to Liam, who came to an abrupt stop, and shook his head. "We're close."

"You get his scent?" Scott asked, Liam nodded. Ophelia raised a brow, brushing past the two boys towards the beta.

"Which way?" Theo clenched his jaw.

Liam glared at Theo. The Chimera looked in disbelief to the trio. "You think you're gonna leave me behind?" He asked.

"Liam?" Ophelia softly asked.

Liam looked to the hybrid, with hurt eyes. "He wants to kill him."

"I just want his power. You want to fight someone that actually wants to kill Mason? Go fight Parrish." Theo retorted.

Liam shook his head in disbelief. "Who did you see when you put the mask on?"

"I already told you. It wasn't Mason." Theo assured.

"Who was it?" Liam asked, irritation dripping from his voice.

"I saw a man dying in the snow. He was impaled by a spear." Theo shrugged.

"It's called a pike. Lydia told us the story." Scott spoke up.

"Then you know what it means. Time's running out. Where is he, Liam? What direction?" Theo asked. Liam glanced to Ophelia, who nodded her head discreetly.

"This way." Liam walked ahead of the group, the trio walking behind the beta. Only to come to a halt. "Listen." Hearing a heart beat. "It's him." Liam affirmed.

The four walked down the steps, of the theatre. "Mason?" Liam called out.

Ophelia sped over holding Mason up, "Mase?" Ophelia shrugged the boy.

"It's connected to him." Scott spoke up. Ophelia glanced to Theo who parted his lips shaking his head.

"What is it?" Ophelia asked the blue eyed boy.

"I don't know." Theo shook his head.

"Liam, I can feel it." Mason weakly spoke up. "It's in my skull."

"What are they doing to him?" Liam angrily asked the Chimera who shook his head.

"I don't know." Theo shook his head frantically worry dripping from his tone.

"Guys, lets focus. Mason we're gonna get you out of here." Scott reassured. Scott glanced to Ophelia, and nodded. "Hold him still." Ophelia gulped and bent down next to Liam. "I'm going to pull it out. Let me know if it hurts."

Scott grasped the needle ready to pull out the needle only for Mason to cry out. "It hurts." He panted. Ophelia looked past Theo, with wide eyes. Theo noticed the hybrid's fear. Furrowing his thick brows, looking behind him. Widening his eyes looking to the Dread Doctor behind him. Ophelia stood up on shaky legs, gritting her teeth. She grasped Theo's large hand in her small one pulling him back.

Theo widened his eyes at the shock from his hands, and suppressed a smile, feeling the warmth inside of him. If this were any other situation he'd make a snide comment and charm the Original, but seeing her frightened and worried for not only her friends but him, sent nerves and chills throughout the chimera.

"They wanted us here." Theo affirmed, grasping Ophelia's hand tighter in his. Ophelia gnawed on the inside of her cheek. Tightening her interlocked hand with Theo's.

"Liam, try to get that thing out of Mason's neck." Scott demanded. The trio looked hearing another set of clicking and footsteps.

"Theo." His robotic voice called out. "Theo Raeken." Theo's grip tightened around the Original's hand. Whose body filled with nerves. "Failure. Theo Raeken." The surgeon muttered out.

Theo's eyes filled with fear, pulling Ophelia behind him. The hybrid tugged on Theo's hand pulling him back with her. "I-I'm not a failure." Theo stammered.

"Not a complete failure. We learned from you." The surgeon walked slowly towards the group. Causing the trio to back up slowly.

"Don't listen to him." Ophelia mumbled softly. Theo was to busy starring down the Dread Doctors, to hear Ophelia and Scott's voices. To intent on focusing on the Doctors to feel Ophelia's small hand grasp his forearm pulling him into her.

"The mark of a true failure. Repeating the same mistake again and again." The surgeon taunted, looking to the Original who furrowed her brows. Theo pulled her behind him, growling.

"We're taking him. Then I'm taking what's mine." Theo hissed. "Let him go." Theo growled.

"You have the entitlement and narcissism typical of your generation. In that, you are a profound success." The surgeon taunted again. Liam grasped the needle only for Mason to scream out in pain.

"I can't get it out. I don't know what to do." Liam spoke to the trio. Scott nodded to Ophelia, rushing up to Mason helping Liam.

"But your failure taught us one thing. The banality of evil. That you were and would always be an ordinary evil." The doctor robotically finished.

"You think I'm ordinary?" Theo smirked. Ophelia gnawed on her bottom lip, not sure what to do.

"We believed that to resurrect the perfect killer, we had to start with the perfect evil. From you we learned true evil only comes by corrupting something truly good." He remarked.

Theo shoved Ophelia down next to Scott, growling to the doctors shoving and slashing against their suits. Liam looked to Ophelia who looked at Theo with fearful eyes. Liam clenched his jaw, and ran up towards the doctors attacking them one by one. "Liam, wait!" Scott shouted. Scott followed behind his beta, then Ophelia.

The four fought the doctors, ignoring Mason's shouts. Clicking and groans were heard throughout the room. The surgeon grasped Ophelia by her throat throwing her against the wall. Cracking it in the process. Ophelia fell in a heap to the floor, rocks piercing her skin. Ophelia gasped in pain.

Theo roared in anger, attacking the surgeon. The four looked to a groaning Mason, watching him as he removed the needle himself. Theo ran over to Ophelia holding her up by her waist. The four looked with wide eyes to Mason. "No." Ophelia mumbled, grasping Theo's bicep.

"Transformation without frequency." The doctor spoke up looking to Mason, The four looked in horror to the boy.

"Mason!" Liam shouted out. The Beast growled, his eyes glowing an electric blue, reminding Ophelia of The Hollow. Fear coursed through Ophelia's veins, Theo gripped her waist assuring her she was okay.

"That is not my name." The Beast growled. Ophelia whimpered against Theo, who clutched her against his chest. Scott held Liam back, all wary of The Beast.

The Beast stood up ripping the Doctors apart. The four stood back, The Beast shoved Ophelia down, digging his claws into Theo. Ophelia crawled beside Theo holding her hand to his wound on his abdomen, as Liam and Scott ran outside meeting Chris, Gerrard, Parrish, Elijah and Klaus.

"Go." Theo weakly mumbled to Ophelia, who shook her head, glancing out the door to her friends. Gritting her teeth, she bit into her wrist; tasting sweet iron. She held her wrist to Theo's lips, who gripped her hand shaking his head. "Go." He demanded. "Now." Ophelia gritted her teeth. Parting her lips to protest, "Go!" He shouted at the Original.

Ophelia flinched at his tone, she stood up glancing down at a wounded Theo. Ophelia sped out bumping into Scott and Liam. Seeing the Beast turn into an unknown man.

"Who the bloody hell was that?" Ophelia asked.

"You've seen the Beast of Gevaudan. That was the man." Gerrard replied.

"Sebastian Valet." Elijah affirmed. Klaus gritted his teeth walking over to his sister, pulling her into him.
