"hey." matt smiled.

"hi." i smiled back, confused. "what's up?"

"joey called me over to hang out and i remembered you live next to him. i was on my way out, but i figured i'd say hi."

"oh ok. um-"

"is it the pizza?" jacob yelled. i quickly looked back to see him walking towards the door.

"is now not a good time?" matt eyebrows furrowed, looking unsure.

"it's not that. it's just-"

the door was ripped my hands as jacob looked outside.

"who is this?" he asked looked at me.

"matt, this is my brother, jacob. jacob, this is matt."

"nice to meet you, matt. what are you doing here?"

"oh, i just came to say hi." he smiled, shoving his hands in his pockets.

"nice. did you want to come in? we ordered a pizza." jacob offered.

i covered my face with my hands. this was gonna be awkward as hell.

"i don't know. i should get going. i have-"

"no, man, come in. just for a little bit. it will be fun." jacob gave an innocent smile. he knew what he was doing.

i sighed as matt shrugged.

next thing i knew, matt was sitting on my couch next to me. jacob sitting across from him. vinnie across from me.

"i can't believe you met matt rife and didn't tell me!" kaya yelled, after i told her the story. well, minus the whole date thing.

kaylee was the only one (other than matt and i) who knew the whole story.

i was planning on telling jacob the full thing, but not in front of kaya.

"i can't believe it either." i shrugged.

that was true. i still couldn't believe i met matt rife.

i also couldn't believe how comfortable he seemed to be with my group. he was making jokes and everyone was laughing.

he seemed to enjoy their company and they seemed to enjoy his.

"alright guys, we are gonna head out. i have to work in the morning." kaylee announced, getting up and stretching.

kaya groaned as she got up, complaining about how she didn't want to leave.

"you are such a little sister." i laughed, rolling my eyes.

"well, duh!" she smiled.

we said goodbye and i walked both of them out.

i walked back to see matt, vinnie, and jacob cleaning our mess.

"oh, leave it guys, i can do that." i tried waving them off.

"no no, don't worry about it." vinnie shrugged.

vinnie threw the paper plates and napkins away. jacob threw away one of the empty pizza boxes and closed the other one. matt brought the cups to the sink and put the soda bottles in the fridge.

"jennaaaaa." jacob sang.

"what?" i asked, smiling.

"what if you let me take the rest of the pizza home?"

"sure, take it. i don't care." i laughed.

"yes! thank you!" he picked up the box and gave me a hug.

i walked him and vinnie towards the door.

jacob eyed matt as he stood in the kitchen.

"what's he...?" jacob mumbled.

"don't worry about it. good night jay." i smiled.

he gave me a look and shook his head. then he gave me a smile.

matt walked over and shook jacob's hand.

"it was nice to meet you. you as well." he said to vinnie.

"yeah, you too." jacob said, looking between me and matt. he looked like he wanted to say something but he didn't.

"alright, goodnight guys." jacob said, opening the door.

"goodnight." i waved, closing the door behind them.

i turned around to face matt.

"what are you doing?" i smiled.

"i figured that i'm just gonna stay till you tell me to leave." he smirked.

i laughed and shrugged.

"ok."

"i'll help wash the cups?" he offered.

"alright, since you offered you can wash, i'll dry."

"sounds good."
