ix storms crashing.
NOVEMBER 1ST 2022
Bobby burst into Ivy's bedroom like a whirlwind, almost tearing the door off its hinges in the process. He had his phone in hand, and without holding back, he yanked the curtains open wide, letting in the bright morning light. Ivy groaned, her instinct was to hide from the world, so she pulled the covers over her head, seeking refuge in the bed. "Get the fuck out," she mumbled, her annoyance clear. But Bobby was not one to take no for an answer; he pulled the covers back again, determined to confront her about what was on his phone.
"What's this about, Ivy?" he asked, his voice a mix of curiosity and worry as he held up the phone displaying an article. Ivy squinted at the screen, raising her hand to shield her eyes from the harsh light, and snatched the phone from him, her fingers scrolling through the text with an urgency that reflected her growing dread. She let out another groan, this time full of frustration, and fell back onto the bed.
"I thought you stopped messing, Ives," Bobby's tone shifted, softening as he sat down beside her on the bed. He ran a hand through his messy hair, trying to process the weight of the situation.
Ivy sighed deeply, her body language betraying her guilt. "It was just the once," she whispered, avoiding his gaze and her eyes darting away, knowing full well she had crossed a line. She had managed to stay clean for almost a year, and now she felt the weight of disappointment and shame crashing over her.
Bobby shook his head slowly, his disappointment clear. "But it wasn't, was it?" he said, his voice low as he paused for a moment, then wrapped his arm around her shoulder, offering comfort. "Who was the lad?"
She leaned into him, seeking solace in his presence. "No one..." she replied, her voice trembling as she tried to explain. "Things have been harder than usual lately... I just, I needed an escape," she admitted, the cracks in her voice revealing her struggle.
Bobby nodded in understanding, resting his head against hers. "No more, okay? I've got you, Ives. You and me against the world. We don't need that bollox," he spoke gently, his words wrapping around her like a warm blanket, providing a sense of calm amidst the chaos of her thoughts.
Ivy nodded slowly, feeling the tension start to ease as her eyes fluttered shut while resting against him. His arm pulled her closer, fingers soothingly rubbing her shoulder, as he stared blankly ahead, lost in thought.
Here we go again.
