The Doctor is Coming to Town - Part 2

* Diamond's POV *

I dug my face deeper in the pillow when I noticed the time. Who, I ask you, who calls at four AM?! That's way too early. Without looking I reach for the phone, standing on my cupboard. It better be important otherwise I'm going to let things explode.

"Yes?" I grumble when I have blindly answered the phone.

"Hi Di, sorry 'bout the time. I know it's early but we need your help."

I turn on my back, rubbing my eyes to get rid of the sleep. "Who's this?" I ask.

"This is dog." Confused I sit straight. "It's Skyler, sleepy head."

"Hi... So, you mean right now?" I ask and I hope the answer is no but I'm pretty sure she means now.

"Yes, now." I can just imagine her rolling her eyes and I wonder what could be so important that she had to call at four in the morning.

"Fine, I'm on my way," I answer and after a short goodbye I hang up the phone. With a sigh I get out of bed and dress myself. I grab the car keys and set course towards the garage of the apartments. I live in a quiet - as far that's possible in New York City - neighbourhood and only twenty minutes away from the Tower. I'll be there in no-time.

"Good morning, miss Storm," Jarvis' voice greets me when I step inside the building.

"Morning, where are they?"

"75th floor, miss."

"Thank you." I walk to the lift and push the button. When I've reached the right floor I just follow the sound of the voices coming my way. The sight lets my jaw drop, in front of me stands a blue police box but it's way bigger on the inside. Skyler, Megan, Elizabeth and a man I don't know are standing in it.

"What? How is this possible? What is this?" I say quickly without pausing between the questions. The man I don't know looks my way and I must say, I like his hair. It's real messy and pointing in all directions without looking ridiculous.

"Black Diamond, I'm honored to meet you," the man says with sparkling eyes and wary I walk closer. How does he know me? "I'm the Doctor," he introduces himself, taking my hand and shaking it.

"Doctor who?" I respond confused. How can your name be only 'Doctor'. The girls let out a chuckle when I say that.

"Nothing, just the Doctor." Right... That's weird. I shrug and turn my attention to the others.

"So, why did I had to come? The morning is evil..." I say between a yawn.

"We need to get this," Skyler gestures to all where we're standing in, "outside."

"Why?"

"We need to get the Doctor and the Tardis to Asgard."

"Why?" I have the feeling I keep repeating myself. Well, let's just say I'm not the brightest in the morning or they're just bad expositors.

"The Tardis... She's dead. We need to recharge her in Asgard," the Doctor explains.

"Have you ever heard of 'Doctor Who'?" Elizabeth asks and I frown thoughtfully.

"Yeah, that's a TV serie, right?"

"Not anymore... Ask yourself: How did you answer to the phrase: 'I'm the Doctor' a few moments ago?"

"Doctor who," I answer without hesitation and then I get it. "O... Oh! You mean he's that Doctor? How's that even possible?"

"Parallel universe."

"Okay..." I suppose after aliens coming out of space, nothing can suprise me anymore. "So, once again you need me for my telekinetic powers?" I sigh.

They're all quiet for a moment. "Uhm, yes..." Elizabeth answers then and I can see she feels bad about it.

"It's okay," I reassure her. "But I think this Tardis is really heavy and I can't stretch my mind that far downstairs."

"Don't worry. She actually doesn't weigh much," the Doctor answers. I doubt that, I can't see how big the Tardis is from the inside but this room is already very big. She can't be light.

"How?"

"Gravity wiggity stuff," he answers after a pause, making some gestures with his hands. I raise an eyebrow, that didn't make any sense.

I sigh again. "Alright, let's give it a try."

We all walk out of the Tardis and the Doctor closes the door with a snap of his fingers. Then I try lifting the Tardis with my mind. I expected it to be really heavy but the Doctor spoke the truth: she's very light.

"Jarvis, the window please," Skyler says and at the end of the hallway the glass wall is opening. I move the Tardis to the opening and walk behind it. It's like moving a feather, not really much of a challenge. Elizabeth grabs my arm to prevent me from falling when I lean out of the window to see where I'm moving the Tardis to. Within a minute the Tardis is on the ground and we take the elevator downstairs. We form a circle around the blue box and the Doctor looks curious to the night sky.

"And now? How do we open the rainbow bridge?"

I look at Elizabeth who just shrugs. "I suppose we just say it..." But just when she's about to call upon Heimdall, someone comes running towards us.

"Katherine?" I say suprised when I recognize her, and I look to the others if perhaps they have called her, but they all look as suprised as I am.

"I couldn't sleep," she explains, running a hand through her dark brown hair. "So I went for a walk and saw this," she points at the Tardis, "coming out of the Tower." Her eyes catches the Doctor. "Who's this?"

"I'm the Doctor."

"Doctor who?" she responds and I chuckle. It's really funny when you think about it, everyone responds the same on the phrase.

"Just the Doctor. Long story. Care for a journey to Asgard?" Elizabeth responds before any of could say anything, and Katherine nods with a half-shrug. "Sure, why not."

"Heimdall, we're ready. Don't forget to beam up the blue box as well," Elizabeth continues.

We all look up to the sky and the dark grey clouds start to shift. A beam in all colors appears around us and even though I've traveled already two times with the BifrΓΆst, I still can't get used to the feeling of seeing all of the universe around me. The Doctor utters a beatific laugh and I laugh too. This is amazing, but it is only for a short time because in seconds we're inside the big golden orb which name I cannot pronounce.

"Doctor!" A squeal reach our ears and I turn around to see Iris who is jumping up and down in excitement. I'm guessing she does know the TV serie. The Doctor flips his long coat behind him and puts his hands in his pockets, making a small reverence. "Lady Laufeyson, I'm honored."

Iris giggles. "The honor is all mine, Doctor." And she returns the reverence.

"Do you know the most spiritual spot on Asgard, milady?" he asks and Iris smiles so I think she does know but the answer is contradictory. "No. Well, yes. But I don't know where to find it. Loki does. Wait here for a moment." And with a brigth blue flash she teleports herself away. Probably to get Loki.

* Iris' POV *

"Loki! Wake up!" I yell when I have appeared in our room once again. He mutters something and turns around in the bed, pulling the blankets over his head. I leap on the bed and lay myself next to him. I lean with my chin on the back of my hands, which I have layed on his chest. I'm leaning half on him and I can feel slow breathing under my hands.

"Loki," I say again. "The Doctor is here."

"Doctor what?" His voice sounds throttled because he's still laying under the blankets.

"No, you must say: doctor who?"

"Fine, doctor who?"

"Nothing, just the Doctor," I answer proudly and I hear him sigh. He pulls the blankets a bit away and his face appears. He looks at me still a bit tired and I give him my most innocent smile. He puts his arms around me and draws little circles with his fingers on my shoulder. I close my eyes for a moment but then I poke his chest and I sit upright again. "Come, we must go to Heimdall. For the record, you do know how to find the Yggdrasill, right?"

"Yggdrasill?" he repeats slowly as if he's not sure he heard it right. I nod and he throws the blankets away to get out of bed. "Why do you want to go there?" he continues while he puts on some clothes and I watch him, sitting crosslegged on the bed.

"The Doctor said he needed to go to the most spiruatal place on Asgard to recharge the Tardis. So I figured that is the Yggdrasil but I don't know where to find it."

"I do, but who is this Doctor anyways? Why do you even consider bringing him to the Yggdrasill? Can you trust him?"

I make a half-shrug. "I do trust him. He's the Doctor."

"Yes, you said that. Not exactly useful for me though."

"Do you trust me, Loki?" I return the question. He turns around and straightens his black leather garment. He furrows his eyebrows. "Of course, my love."

"Then trust me when I say we need to get the Doctor to the Yggdrasill."

He studies my face for a moment and then nods. "Very well. Let's go to Heimdall to meet with the Doctor." I jump of the bed and he grabs my hand, pulling me closer and with a bright green flash we disappear.

"Well, that took a while," Elizabeth teases us when we appear again, and she wiggles her eyebrows. I chuckle because of her facial expression but shake my head a bit.

"We came as fast as we could," I reassure her and she sticks out her tongue. "Sure."

I roll my eyes but the Doctor interveres by addressing Loki. "Prince Loki, I am honored," he greets him, making a small reverence just like he had made towards me. I giggle escapes my mouth when I notice the astonished face of Loki.

"Prince? I like him," he approves and this time, Elizabeth rolls her eyes.
"So, what do we have to get to the Yggdrasill?" he continues and the Doctor's face lit up.

"Yggdrasill? The Tree of the World... Yes, that could work." The Doctor points behind him at the Tardis. "We need to get this to the Yggdrasil."

Loki shifts his eyes a bit. "That blue box? That's all?"

"Oh, Loki..." I start, "you have no idea what it is, do you?"

"No, should I?"

"Wait 'til you see the inside," Skyler adds and Loki raises curiously an eyebrow. The Doctor snaps with his fingers and the door opens. Warily Loki walks to it and puts his head inside.

"So, what exactly... Oh," he utters while he pulls out his head again. "That is some nice magic."

"Not magic. Science," the Doctor corrects him.

Loki shrugs. "Magic is science. Science is magic." I think about that for a moment but I suppose that is right. Magic is just something more advanced than science and the humans don't understand it yet. With a few exceptions like mutants, of course. "Iris said you needed to recharge her?"

The Doctor nods. "Yes, she's a time traveling machine but I crossed the Void and she shut down."

"Very well, Doctor. I trust Iris and she trusts you, lets get to the Yggdrasill to recharge your time machine."

The Doctor smiles and thanks him. Diamond makes a small movement with her hand and the Tardis starts floating in the air. Suprised I look at her, I suppose the Tardis is real heavy but it seems like Di has no trouble with it at all. She smirks when she notices my expression.

"It's not heavy," she informs me.

"Hm, okay," I answer and I squint my eyes a bit, focussing on the box and making it invisible with my powers. "What?" I ask when I see the questioning looks of the others. "We can't go through the city with a blue police box above our heads. They will question us."

"Yes, of course. You're right," Elizabeth agrees and with the eight of us, we walk out of the HiminbjΓΆrg with Loki in front of us because he is the only one who knows the way. The location of the Yggdrasill is a secret to most Asgardians, only the noble ones know where it is. I know only the poem.

"An ash I know there stands,

Yggdrasill is its name,

a tall tree,

showered with shining loam -," I say softly to myself.

"From there come the dews

that drop in the valleys.

It stands forever green over

UrΓ°r's well," the Doctor continues the poem and suprised I turn my head to look at him.

"Doctor, I must say I'm impressed."

He chuckles. "I've always been a fan of Norse mythology."

I smile and in silence we continue our walk through the city with the invisible Tardis floating above our heads. I hope the Yggdrasill is not very far away, because who knows what can come through the gap in the Void from the other side...

A/N:The poem is from the book 'Poetic Edda' and is called 'VΓΆluspΓ‘'.Β

What do you think is going to happen? Will they arrive at the Yggdrasill in time? *dramatic music* ;p
