The Christmas Tree - Part 3
* Diamond's POV *
It is a bit too early when Pietro, Wanda and I arrive at the Avengers Tower but Elizabeth had called Wanda that she needed a telekinetic. Which is Wanda and I. When we step out Wanda's car I see everyone already standing in front of the building. It looks like they're waiting for something, but what?
I walk to Steve, Elizabeth, Tony and Bruce with the Maximoffs right behind me. We greet them and Elizabeth tells me Katherine and Bucky are upstairs. After all we need some supervision there too. And right at that time, a truck turns around the corner and stops in front of the building. I guess that that's what they were waiting for, and I'll eat my shoe if that truck doesn't contain the huge Christmas tree. Two men step outside the truck and open the trailer. In it are indeed a lot of pine branches, attached to a big strump. And now I do understand why they need me and Wanda to get the tree upstairs. That's no job for ordinary men.
"Jarvis," Tony says into his watch. At least, I think it is a watch, it looks like one. "We're almost ready. You may open the building."
I throw a look at the top of the building and where I think must be the living room, or party-zone, suddenly appears a big hole. I don't know how they managed to do that but I suppose it's some science-thingy.
"So, what's the plan?" I ask Wanda who was staring at the top of the building too.
"One up there, one down here?" she suggests and I nod. That could work, neither of us probably can stretch our powers that far out that we both stay down here. We decide she's the one who will go upstairs, because she's already able to fly with her powers. I'm still working on that, but at this moment Wanda's faster upstairs than I am with the many lifts and all. That would take a lot of time. Wanda starts to float and fixates her eyes upon the spot she wants to go to. Then she's going faster and disappears out of my sight.
"Okay, let's do this." I say, turning back to the truck. I stretch my mind out to the tree and slowly but steady I let it float out of the trailer. I hold my hands in front of me and make some movements to control the huge pine tree. It's harder than I thought and I wonder if I'm able to get it high enough for Wanda to take it over with her powers. I can feel all the eyes fixed on me and I start to feel a bit uncomfortable. I blow out my breath through my mouth, and concentrate on the job ahead of me: getting the tree upstairs and boy, do I need that concentration.
With every strength I have I force the tree to go higher and higher, and just when I thought I couldn't go any further with my mind and it would drop, Wanda can reach the tree with her mind and takes it over. Sweat is dripping of my forehead and with a gasp I let go of the tree. It's out of my control now and panting I lean with my hands on my knees. I feel a warm hand on my shoulder and Pietro appears in my eyesight, squatting to look me in the eye.
"Are you alright?" he asks concerned and I nod with a slight smile.
"I'm sorry, I didn't know it would be that hard," Elizabeth apologizes but I wave it away.
"Nah, it's fine. It was a great exercise I have to admit that," I say and she chuckles. Shaking her head in disbelief but then focusses her look up again. I follow her glance and see that the dot which is suppose to be the tree, is almost inside the building.
I let out a relieved sound when the tree is out of our sight and so in the Tower. Elizabeth laughs and hugs me tightly. "You did it! You both did it!" she yells in my ear and I laugh too.
"Jarvis, you can close the Tower now," Tony says and we all want to enter the building when suddenly the clouds above us start to swift and I exchange a look with Pietro. That can only mean one thing: the Asgardians are on their way. A beam shoots out of the sky and hits the ground nearby with a loud blast. In the bright beam of all possible colors, appear three shapes. Then the beam fades away and I recognize Iris, Loki and Thor.
"Greetings!" Thor booms. "Merry Christmas!" Thor continues and I laugh just as like the others, but Loki only just pinches the bridge of his nose in annoyment.
"A bit too soon," I answer while the others are still laughing at Thor's comment.
"Really? But it is called a Christmas tree, right? Why setting it up when it isn't Christmas yet?"
I have to admit, it sounds quite weird when you know nothing about that Midgardian custom.
"For the cosiness," Elizabeth answers and I suppose that must be it. Having a decorated Christmas tree in your room, is quite cozy. Makes it really feel like Christmas.
"Alright. Let's see how Wanda is doing," Elizabeth continues when it stayed silence for a moment. I nod in agreement but a loud noise catches - again - my attention. I turn back around and black Chevrolette stops in front of the Tower. Natasha and Clint step out of the car and I can only just stare in awe at the car. That is a Chevrolette Stingray, and what I wouldn't give to go for a little ride in that car. Then I see three figures shooting to the sky, but before I could say anything about it, they land in front of us and I only recognize the Vision because Wanda has told me about him. The other one has a suit which is the same as Tony's but then dark greyish, and the other man has mechanized wings which are now folded back on his back. When they all notice my confused expression they introduce themselves as James Rhodes aka War Machine, and Sam Wilson aka the Falcon.
"Well then, it looks we're all here. Let's go inside," Steve says and we all follow him.
After a few minutes - in a very crowded lift - we're upstairs and many greetings are exchanged. We all have never met Katherine before and we all knew Bucky only recently. With an exeption from the Asgardians, of course. But since they're mostly not on Earth, I can't blame them for that.

* Iris' POV *
It's quite crowdy in the elevator now with seventeen persons. We fit only just and I'm squeezed between Loki and Thor. It looks like hours before we're finally on the right floor and relieved I take a deep breath.
The huge pine tree is placed in the middle of the room and luckily they've already had gotten the decorations out of the storage. It is all packed in boxes, scattered across the room. My eye falls upon a black haired woman standing next to a man I don't know. I guess that's Katherine, our new member. I place a smile on my face and walk to her, stretching out my arm and shaking hers. Perhaps a bit too fiercely? She grimaces and I quickly let go of her hand.
"Hi! I'm Iris, you must be Katherine, right?" She nods and then I turn to the strange man. His left arm is completely made out of metal and curious I observe him.
"Bucky," I realize, the name popping in my mind. How could I forget, he was in the chat too.
"True. Nice to meet you, Iris."
"Likewise." Then next to me appears Thor, staring at Bucky too. Thor smiles very widely and I can't help to start to feel sorry for Bucky. Thor is probably going to something weird now.
"Is this Steve's friend?" he asks with a loud voice and I can hear the others turning around to see what's happening. I can feel their eyes burning in my back and I try not to face-palm. Not now, Thor, I think but it's all in vain.
"Hello, Winter Soldier," Thor greets Bucky who quirks an eyebrown. Thor pulls him in a man-hug and Bucky awkwardly pats his back. Dodging the amused expressions of the other.
"Loki, look!" Thor continues without realizing everyone is looking at them, and he grabs Bucky by his metal arm.
"Look," Thor demands, dragging him to Loki who was trying very hard to ignore everything around him. With a sigh he turns around and observes Bucky.
"What's that? He looks like he wants to bite someone." Loki replies and I let out a sigh.
"I sure do," Bucky says between gritted teeth and I chuckle. He breaks out of Thor's grip and walks back to Katherine who was trying very hard to keep in her laughter, and now only a smirk is on her face.
A few minutes pass by and I introduce myself to the so called new Avengers.
"Okay," Elizabeth says on a loud tone to get everyone's attention when finally a little silence fall. "I think it is time to start decorating the tree and all. Right?" I nod and around the room I see some same movements. If we don't start now, it probably would get a bit late. I walk to the nearest box and open it, revealing red baubles and garlands. I use my magic to decorate the top of the tree, as do Diamond, Wanda and Loki. The others decorate the lower parts and as promised, the Christmas music is blasting through the space. Without holding back I sing along with Wham's 'Last Christmas' and Mariah Carrey's 'All I want for Christmas', and many more. The others are doing exactly the same and I can hear some very false notes. But I'm probably just as bad as everyone else, but that's not what Christmas is about. Or what this is about. This is about being together and having a great time. Which we all most certainly have.

A/N: Last Christmas I gave you my heart, and the very next day, you gave it away. Yep, it's stuck in my head now :P
I hope you all enjoyed these chapters and let me know if you want something to happen next chapters, and if not I will just make things up ;) (Be warned! Nah, just kidding. The previous ones weren't that bad, right?)
Also, it is long passed midnight here and I really should be sleeping now, hahaha. And because of that I'm not sure whether to set the date of the chat on 12-12 or 12-13... Well, just pretend this all happened on that Saturday. So obviously I also didn't check the spelling, I'll do that another time, cuz I'm tired! It's 1.36 AM :O My bed is calling! Goodnight :)
