Elizabeth's Past - Part 1

*3rd POV*

Mister and Missis Hart ran upstairs when they heard their seven-year old son screaming in terror. Martin burst into his son's room and his wife followed. In front of them was a very unusual sight, Alison gasped for air and Martin dragged his son away from the lion cub. It was a mystery where the lion had come from in the first place and how on Earth it had gotten inside.

"Jackson, where's your sister?" Alison asked her son shocked and with a quivering hand, Jackson pointed at the lion cub. The married couple eyed the young lion and they stared at it in horror when its body started to reform. Nauseating cracking and creaking sounds reached their ears and Alison went pale. What was this kind of sorcery?

Jackson hid behind the legs of his father and he stared with big eyes at the slowly transforming creature. The golden fur shot back in the skin while out of the skull started to grow long dark blonde hair. After a few very long seconds, his five-year old sister sat in front of them on the ground with dizzy eyes.

Martin took out his vest and covered her shivering naked body. He only noticed now her clothes were laying around her, they had huge tears in it.

"What... What happened?" she asked confused and she blinked a few times to sharpen her eyesight. It was all too much for Mrs. Hart to handle and she fainted. Jackson cried out a warning and Martin caught his wife before she could hit the wooden floor.

Elizabeth raised her eyebrows and tightened her father's vest around herself.

Her brother smiled weakly. "Okay... You may play with my action figure."

"We cannot send her to the hospital, Ali. Who knows what they'll do to her."

Elizabeth was about to enter the living room but her father's voice let her falter in her pace. Hospital? She didn't like hospitals...

"But she isn't normal. She should be examined by specialists."

"And let them experiment on her?!"

"If that is a necessity."

"For crying out loud, Alison! She's your daughter!"

There was a short silence and Elizabeth could only guess what was going on.

"That is not my daughter."

Elizabeth felt her eyes tear up and she pushed the white wooden door open. Her parents stood in the center of the room, staring each other to death.

"What do you mean I'm not your daughter?" she asked sadly and her father turned his head to look at her, his eyes were filled with shock. But her mother crossed her arms and turned her head the other way, chin raised stubbornly.

"Don't listen to your mother, dear. Of course you're our daughter."

"Not mine, not anymore," her mother huffed.

Her father turned back to Alison, furious. "Stop talking nonsense!"

"Fine, if you want to risk your life to be in the presence of that... that monster, be my guest! But Jackson and I will be leaving."

Elizabeth looked with watery and big eyes between her parents. Who was a monster? Was she a monster...?

Martin hesitated for a moment, he didn't want to lose his son but he also couldn't do what Alison wanted to do to Elizabeth. That would be no life for a young girl. "Fine, then leave," he said with pain in his heart.

Alison put her hands on her hips. "Do not think I'm bluffing. We'll leave and you'll never see us again!"

Martin gritted with his teeth. "I know."

Alison stormed out of the room, roughly pushing her daughter aside and she ran upstairs. She grabbed her stuff and Jackson's and within a few minutes they were both gone. Jackson hadn't understood why they were leaving but his mother had convinced him to come with her, he didn't know he would never be seeing his father or little sister again.

*1st POV*

To be honest, I didn't remember much about my mother. My father never talked about her but sometimes he did talk about my brother. Then he wondered how he was doing, if they would meet again, and so on.

When he was not working - sometimes he could be away for days, even weeks - or remembering the good old times, he taught me how to defend myself. I knew I was able to change into a lioness but when my father and I were trying to find out more about this mutation, I soon realized it came with a great cost. I couldn't describe the pain but it was truly horrible, I had to break every bone in my body and moving it to get it in the right place. After my first incident - as so my father calls it - I had never been able to transform completely again. Partly, yes but into a complete lioness... I probably couldn't handle that much pain.

When we found out it was very painful, he decided I needed to be able to defend myself. In case someone found out who and what I was and they wanted to capture me, to do experiments or worse... My father wouldn't let that happen, and neither would I. If I had been able to turn with ease into a lioness, they would think twice about trying to do something to me. But no, it didn't go with ease. So I trained and trained, until I was able to knock out anyone who would try to do anything threatening.

At the age of ten, I had the black belt in Karate, just like my father. Almost impossible but we guessed my mutation also made me able to learn new physical skills fast, very fast. Perhaps there were even some other side-effects which we hadn't discovered yet. So we wondered, why stop by Karate?

Three years later I had mastered Jujutsu.

Four years after that I could called myself a master in Teakwon-do, and I decided to start learning some other skills than only martial arts. Why no guns? Or using a bow and arrow (I found out very soon, I sucked at that one).

But when I had been nineteen years old, my father died. One morning he had left for work but he never had returned. That night I found out, I actually never knew what kind of job my father did. Apparently he had been an agent of SHIELD, and this time his mission hadn't ended well. As so Director Fury had told me.

I was left alone.

And I had no clue what to do next.

A/N: I was listening to the soundtrack of The Lion King while writing this, ironic no?

Nants ingonyama bagithi Baba!! (I seriously only know now what they are singing when the sun rises at the horizon xD And it translates itself to: Here comes a lion, Father. You learn something new every day)

So, now you all now a bit more about Elizabeth's past, was it as you had thought?
