YEAH . . .
So when they got back to school, they were immediately sent to Dumbledore's office with Filch scowling at them for destroying his slippers and drenching his third cat that year.
"With all that flying through the sky - you'd think my hair would be dry by now," Magnolia mutters as Harry messes up her partly wet and partly dry hair.
"Stop it, you arse," She scowled, swatting Harry's hand away as he chuckled.
"And they say romance is dead," Regulus mutters sarcastically as James smirks at Sirius - who is clearly staring at Remus.
With Harry and Magnolia playfully bickering back and forth - Sirius felt eyes on him and looked at James. He immediately furrowed his eyebrows at his best mate. James kept a smirk before glancing at Remus and then back at Sirius with raised eyebrows.
"Shut up, Prongs," Sirius mutters, crossing his arms over his chest as James lets out a giggle before putting his hands up in surrender, "I didn't say anything."
"All of you in. Now," McGonagall announces with a frown, coming up beside them through the hall with Professor Beery at her side. The seven of them went quiet and followed their professor inside Dumbledore's office.
"They should be expelled!" They immediately hear Filch exclaim to Dumbledore as they walk in.
Magnolia gulped, remembering the last encounter she had with Dumbledore. She yelled at him for making them stay in this time longer when they didn't want to. But this time - things were different. She can feel it - all of them did. And now... They weren't excited or hopeful at all for what was to come.
It was more of being scared and nervous.
They didn't want to leave. But yet, they knew they had to.
"Filch, calm down-"
"My cat almost drowned! And it was because of these idiotic delinquents!" Filch shouts angrily, turning to the teens as they try covering their laughter with coughs or scratching their noses.
"What is it? Your fourth cat this year?" Sirius asks with a smirk as Filch holds up his wand in a funnily threatening manner toward them, making McGonagall roll her eyes.
"We'll deal with this now, Filch. Go make sure the rest of the students are now at breakfast."
"B-But-" He stuttered, his face turning red as he stomped his foot to the ground. He gave the teens glares before finally leaving Dumbledore's office.
"It's like he already knows someone shit in his oatmeal," Harry mutters, making Magnolia suddenly let out a snort - finally making the professors turn to the students.
"It's always you four - first it was dragging Mr. Lupin and now dragging Regulus and the two newest students! What great role models you are." McGonagall began sarcastically, making James and Sirius smirk proudly - holding themselves high. Professor Beery walked in front of them with soft glares, crossing his arms over his chest.
"What would your parents say about this?!" He scowled at Harry and Magnolia, making them suck in their lips between their teeth to stop the grinning and laughter. Unlike Regulus, James, Peter, Remus, and Sirius, were all displaying their grins quite clearly.
Harry and Magnolia looked at one another with small smirks before letting out a small breath.
"A lot. They'd say a lot-" Harry musters, looking at Magnolia to prevent his laughter from erupting. "Right, Mags?"
"O-Oh yeah - they'd say a lot..." She agrees, glancing at the boys as their faces turn a small pink at how hard they are silently laughing.
"This 'prank' could lead to you all being expelled," Dumbledore explains, making Harry and Maggie's hearts drop, and the boys go silent. The couple slightly shifted, hiding their hands behind their backs and interlocking pinkies nervously.
"I promise it was all my plan - I practically forced them to help me," Magnolia told them before McGonagall swished her wand, and Magnolia and Harry were fully dry and proper.
"Thank you." The couple mutter - their shirts tucked into their skirt and pants and ties straightened. Harry had his hair unusually neater than usual, and Mag's hair had a nice neat curl to it.
"Well, since you're new, I will let this be a warning but all of you are getting detentions."
"I'll just add that to the three other detentions I have this month," James mutters, making Harry Snicker and McGonagall eye them.
"All of you, detention after dinner with me. You all may go." They all quietly got up, ready to leave Dumbledore's office.
"Mr. Granger and Ms. Lupin - please stay, we have some things we have to discuss," Dumbledore remarks, making the couple stop with a freeze. The others look at the two, and Maggie sends them a small reassuring nod and smile.
Remus, James, Peter, Regulus, and Sirius all glance at one another before gulping nervously. They didn't know if this was the goodbye or not - Dumbledore could have gotten them away home, and they'd be gone as soon as they left the office. But they didn't want to make it emotional - only slightly grazing their hands on Maggie and Harry's forearms as they walked out.
Once they fully left, Magnolia and Harry gulped and interlocked each other's hands before turning to the professor and headmaster.
"First. I wanted to apologize for our last encounter, I shouldn't have tried keeping you guys here longer - that was very selfish of me. I could have easily made something to get you guys home sooner... I'm very sorry." Dumbledore spoke, flashing his blue eyes to the two young adults as they stared at the obnoxiously tall man.
"Okay." Magnolia murmurs, playing with her diamond ring - she may be losing her memory from her past, but she'll never forget the things he has done. And she wasn't gonna lie and say she was gonna take that apology because she wasn't that type of person.
The professors were a bit surprised at her answer, turning to Harry to see what she possibly meant by "okay" or if she'd say more. But he didn't say anything but looked down at his and Maggie's interlocked fingers. He didn't care about apologies. He just wanted to leave as his nerves rose.
"Thank you for apologizing... But trust me, we don't care about your apologies because now we're just worried about our future."
"And that's understandable, Harry. We're happy to say we've found something that'll be able to help you guys to go back to 1977." The tall professor announces as Dumbledore grabs something from his desk and hands it to McGonagall.
It was almost a replica of a time-turner but possibly even smaller. It looked like a charm hanging from the chain. But instead of gold, it was a clean, bright silver. Magnolia eyed the time-turner as anxiety crept up her neck. Harry saw this and tugged on her skirt to make her look down - something he'd do, to make her lose focus and concentrate on herself to steady her breathing for her anxiety to calm in public settings. sp they didn't have to run out and make a scene.
She's always had anxiety since she was a kid. But something quick and subtle to show Harry was there enough to slowly calm her down.
"It's a time-turner, but it allows you to go much farther than a few hours. It'll allow you to go back to the exact date you came from. I charmed it so when you both are in contact with it, you go back to your time within ten seconds with just a thought to the mind." Dumbledore explains once McGonagall hands Harry the small time-turner. The couple examines it closely.
"But there's something else you should know about it." He tells them as Minerva lets out a small sigh, making the two look at them with furrowed eyebrows.
"I've never made a time turner like this before - so it only works until after noon today. And if you wait longer to use it, the weaker its magic will be, and you might not end up at the exact time you were last."
"But..." Magnolia whispers, cutting herself off as she reads Dumbledore closely.
He wasn't lying.
And Harry was right.
"Dumbledore from our time... Sent you a message... Didn't he?" Harry asks, almost like he read Maggie's mind and questioned his assumptions.
"He did. It was remarkable - getting a letter from my future self and that... I was gonna die. But he had told me all about the time in the future and you two. Also, with what he knows, what's to come with the dark lord, the death eaters, and several ones losing their lives to the big war that's to come... It was all in a letter with a certain time turner set on top of it - on my desk.
"So I did what I was instructed to do. I waited until there was a clear sign to go forth with the plan - which was Miss McGonagall, having a mysterious dream with two young ones going by the names of Harry and Magnolia, the boy who lived and the girl with the Veela charm... And they saved the future for all from sick darkness." They looked at Minerva, and she nodded in confirmation. Harry squeezed Maggie's hand in concern at the title of "the girl with the Veela charm." She hated how she was seen by the wizarding world - as a Veela. Something she's always despised about herself... Now displayed all over the wizarding world.
But after everything - they pray that all that they've done was good enough. Hopefully, Lily and James don't have to go into hiding with young Harry - with Remus tip-toeing on pins and needles with Magnolia, and she hopefully gets to have more than just her father in her life. Peter doesn't betray them and rat them out, so Lily and James won't die, and Harry gets his parents instead of growing up to be an orphan and living in an abusive household. Sirius doesn't get sent to Azkaban and gets the name of Uncle Padfoot by the young ones.
Remus and Sirius finally suck it up and confess their love for one another - resulting in a happy family. Harry and Magnolia grow up together like they were supposed to and fall in love so deeply like now.
But all they could do now was hope.
Because when they're sent back -their minds will be wiped away and they no longer have the memories they once had in their original time...
"It was a pleasure to have you two. We're very sorry for this, though. We hope this whole thing doesn't make things worse and there's nothing for us..."
"Albus!" Minerva scowled, making the man quickly shut up.
"We just wanted to say thank you for being here and trying your best. You have no idea how much this means."
~~~
"Oh, thank the MERLIN! I thought you guys were gonna leave forever!" Sirius exclaims, throwing his arms over the couple's shoulders as they enter their Transfiguration class.
"No. We wouldn't leave without saying goodbye first." Harry reassured, patting his shoulder as Sirius pulled away.
"Oh, I need to show you guys the pictures I have taken since you've guys been here!" Lily cheers, pulling Maggie's arm to come beside her to show her the pictures before class starts.
Lily showed the blonde all the muggle Polaroid pics she had taken of them, making Magnolia smile. There was a picture of Harry and James beside one another, looking into a mirror and both doing their hair in the same mirror. Another one was with James and Sirius kissing either side of Maggie's cheeks as her eyes were squeezed shut and showed a bright smile with her teeth. There was one with Remus and Maggie sitting beside one another - clearly having both a resting bitch face at Sirius.
There was a whole bunch of others - some Magnolia never realized were taken. Some with Regulus, Peter, Marlene, and the girls, it honestly made Maggie want to cry. But she kept herself composed as she looked through them with a grin.
There was one that stood out to her and made her smile.
It was almost all of them in the Polaroid picture. It was their dorm room with Harry, Magnolia, Lily, James, Sirius, Remus, Peter, and Regulus.
Sirius was laying on his back on the bed with a smirk, beside Magnolia and Remus leaning on the bedpost with a grin. Harry was standing beside James, showing off the same grin and the shine from their glasses. Peter was sitting beside them but on the ground with a shy smile and Regulus was sitting on top of a desk, one of his legs to his chest as he merely looked at the Polaroid. Lily was the one holding the camera high to show everyone - her bright smile on her face at the very front of the photo.
It was the day Magnolia and Harry explained about themselves from the future to Lily and Regulus. Also only the day after Lily found out she'd be married and having a kid with James Potter.
It weirds Magnolia out that it wasn't even that long ago when they time-traveled to the past - in 1977.
It mostly pained her because she selfishly wished she never come or let the secret out that Harry and her were from the future. If she hadn't... Maybe this wouldn't be so hard to leave because she was going to miss them so much.
But as Magnolia looks up and Lily's voice is explaining she wants to make a book with all the pictures - turns muffled, she looks at Harry. He was laughing alongside James, Sirius, Remus, and Peter about something, probably about the look on Filch's face when he found out that they were not suspended for their huge prank.
But when she looks at him... She can't help but feel something bubble in her throat - keeping her from letting a cry or outburst and trying to force it away. But she obviously couldn't conceal it because once she opened her mouth and her breath hitched, her eyes began to water.
"Hey, Maggie - you alright?" Lily asks in a whisper, placing her hand over Magnolia's as it shakes.
She quickly snaps out of her trance and looks at Lily surprised, forcing a smile. "Y-Yeah, yeah - I'm fine."
Sirius and Remus froze a little, hearing her heartbeat tremble and her voice hitch - with their incredible 'dog' hearing, they looked at one another. They looked at Magnolia in slight concern as she clearly forced a smile but it never reached her eyes.
Both James and Harry sensed something was up and looked behind them to see Lily and Magnolia. Maggie was already looking at Harry, her eyes swelling with barely there tears. He knew what she was thinking and he was thinking it too.
"Everyone, go to your seat - class is starting!" Professor McGonagall announced, clapping her hands as everyone raised to their seats.
The couple nods at one another, with Harry sitting beside James and Magnolia sitting beside Remus. She doesn't say anything as he eyes her carefully, almost like he is trying to read her.
"Magnolia, what's wrong?"
"How about we skip for the rest of the day after class?" She asks him eagerly, desperately trying to not waste the day.
"You know I don't like skipping classes, I thought you of all people-"
"Oh please, come on - one class won't hurt." He furrowed his eyebrows at her and shook his head, leaning forward as he saw a quick tear prickle down her left cheek.
"Maggie... What's wrong?" She doesn't say anything, biting down on the inside of her cheek hard. Harry glances behind them, his heart aching to see Magnolia like this. He didn't realize how hard this was gonna be. He couldn't even put it in himself to even say it to his father - who he's had no... Real life with.
Magnolia and Harry were dreading for this day to come and are gonna miss all the others so dearly...
For they have had each other in the darkest times. And they had each other when all the bad things went away and during it - they lost everyone but each other. You could never break that love bond.
So because of that - the couple were gonna miss each other most of all.
"We have to leave... Before noon."
