IT HAD BEEN YEARS since you'd seen steve. ever since the battle in germany, steve had been MIA. he'd run from the government after freeing those who were in captivity. you haven't seen or heard much of him since then.

after years of being without steve, you gathered at the avengers compound as a team, or what was left of it. there were others, but you were focused on steve and his entrance with nat. your face scrunched up, your arms crossed over your chest. it'd been so so long.

"steve," you whispered, and he took a step towards you, his eyes filling with joy and sorrow; he'd left you alone.

"y/n," he whispered back, further approaching you. it took the two a minute before he wrapped you in his arms, swaying you gently side to side.

"i'm sorry i left you," he whispered, kissing the top of your head.

"just don't do it again,"
