𝐇𝐚𝐩 𝐥𝐚𝐤𝐞

Danielle hated water but she loved walking near the lake, she'd never admit to anyone that she found the lake beautiful. She could see why the founder of the town named it after the lake.

Although she'd never willingly go out on a boat or even swim in the lake. She couldn't think of anything worse than that.

"Dani are you coming" Danielle heard her friend mutter as she looked ahead of her and her eyes landed on the blonde a few feet away "What are you thinking about"

Danielle sighed as she began walking "Well are you coming Paisley"

Paisley shakes her head but follows after her friend and walked at her side.

Paisley didn't even know why Danielle loved walking by the lake, she knew why her friend hated any type of water and yet here they were late at night walking by a lake.

"When do you need to be home" Paisley spoke up as Danielle stopped once more.

Danielle rolls her eyes but answers "about nine"

"So before nine" Paisley repeated as Danielle nodded her head "Come on then"

"You don't need to walk me home Paisley"

"Don't I"

"Nothing bad ever happens in Hap Lake, Paisley" Danielle muttered just as she walked away from the lake "You better hurry up, if your walking me home Paisley"

Paisley smiles but as she follows Daneille but both girls stop as they hear two people yelling.

Danielle looks around seeing no one near but as Paisley stands closer to her friend.

Danielle holds onto her friends arm as she speaks up "Paisley, What the fuck is that"

The yelling stops as soon as Danielle speaks making Paisley pull her friend closer to her "You mean who the fuck was that"

"W-we should go check"

"Are you mad Danielle, we're going home"

"We can't just lea-"

"Danielle two people are arguing in the dark near a bloody lake" Paisley snaps "We aren't staying"

Danielle nods following Paisley away from the lake and trying to forget the yelling she had just heard.

"Dani you cant just stay home all weekend" Her sister snapped as she walked into her room "Aunt Margaret is working and you cant stay home alone"

Danielle scoffs sitting on her bed "What do you suggest I do then jess"

"Im heading to the lake y-"

Danielle cuts her sister of straight away remembering what she had heard the night before "No"

"Dani"

"I don't like the lake" She half lies "And I don't want to spend all day alone with my big sister"

"I'm meeting up with some friend to go out onto the lake"

"Onto the lake"

"On a boat"

"Then definitely not"

Jessica sighs "Your not staying home alone so get up"

"I'm seventeen"

"Your seventeen in two weeks"

Danielle gets up without protest "Fine, I'll go"

The sisters argued a lot but in the end Jessica loved and adored her baby sister. Danielle knew that and never once had she used her sister loves to get her own way. But things were about to change, Danielle was about to change and not for the better.

"Cant I just go to Paisleys" Danielle asked as she followed Jessica getting closer and Closer to the dock on the lake.

"You could have said that before I dragged you out here Dani" Her sister replied "Its toilet anyways"

"Who are these friends of yours anyways"

"You'll meet one of them in a few minutes"

"I never knew you had friends"

Jesccia stops giving her sister a playfully glare "Says you with only Paisley as a friend"

"I have friends at school"

"Of course you do," Jesccia muttered as she reached the dock.

Danielle looked around seeing no one at all, her eyes trailed over to the other side of the lake. Where her and Paisley were the night before. Where the girls had heard two people arguing.

"Dani, it's rude to not listen" She heard her sister snap as she snapped out her own thoughts. She furrows her brows in confusion until she hears another voice.

Her eyes immediately go onto the man at her sister's friend.

"Dani this is Malachy" Jessica greets the man beside her as Danielle looks him up and down.

Malachy smirks as he looks at her "Dani is it"
