After dinner, Tony tried to convince Hope and Peter to stay the night since it was late but the two already told May they would be sleeping at the apartment since she worked the night shift. Neither wanted her to worry more than she already would.
With that, Happy took the two home and didn't leave until he saw that they made it inside safely.
Hope now sat on the couch as Peter was popping some popcorn for the two so they could watch a movie.
"Alright here you go oh and I got some M&M's," Peter says sitting down on the couch and looking towards Hope who was twisting her necklace.
"Hope?" Peter questions worriedly as Hope snaps out of her thoughts looking at Peter who is staring at her.
"Peter...I have to tell you something," Hope whispers worriedly. Scared that when she told him this he would hate her.
"What? Did something happen at the tower? Do I need to get a lawyer? Or kill someone because that's not really my department?" Peter asks turning his body to face Hope worriedly who chuckles shaking her head.
"No nothing like that Peter. I just-I don't want you to hate me," Hope whispers as Peter grabs her hands making her look at him.
"I could never hate you Hope," Peter tells her with so much conviction that tears appear in Hope's eyes.
"You say that now," Hope whispers as she takes a deep breath looking at Peter.
"My name isn't actually Hope Marshall. It's Hope Mikaelson," Hope tells Peter who tilts his head looking at her.
"And you know how some things exist like Wanda's magic and things like that? Well, there's actually an entire world that exists like that," Hope says as Peter looks at her tilting his head wondering if he needed to call an ambulance because Hope was having a seizure or something.
"The supernatural exists Peter," Hope says before realizing a breath she didn't even know she was holding as Peter stares at her.
"Do you have a fever Hope? How many fingers am I holding up?" Peter questions worriedly placing his hand on Hope's hand who slaps it away.
"Papilio lux," Hope says as a glowing butterfly made of light appears flying around Peter before it disappears.
"What was that?" Peter whispers wide-eyed as Hope smiles at him.
"That was a butterfly," Hope tells Peter who looks at her in disbelief.
"You're telling the truth," Peter states wide-eyed as Hope nods biting her lip.
"That's awesome! You're a witch! My best friend a witch!" Peter exclaims wide-eyed as he jumps up and down like an excited puppy as Hope laughs shaking her head.
"Sort of," Hope says shrugging as Peter stares at her wide-eyed.
"I'm a tribrid. A hybrid of three different creatures. Vampire, Werewolf, and Witch," Hope tells Peter who just stares at her.
"Before you freak out let me explain," Hope says quickly as Peter nods his head.
"Witches are bonded by nature. They are basically nature's servant. You get your powers from the earth. Werewolves have their powers due to a curse placed on their bloodline. They were made due to a witch Inadu as revenge against her tribe for killing her," Hope says gulping slightly at that name. She felt the shivers running through her body through it. Even though she was gone sometimes Hope could still feel the pain that the Hollow left on her.
"Wait why would they kill her?" Peter questions confused as Hope sighs.
"Werewolves were made thousands of years ago. It happened due to a tribe of Native American witches that once lived in what is now known as New Orleans. The Elders of that coven bestowed great power throughout Inadu's mother's pregnancy, in hopes of Inadu becoming a symbol of prosperity. But the thing about power is once you have it all you want is more of it," Hope tells Peter as she twists her necklace.
"As she got older Inadu only craved more power and ended up killing members of her own tribe for that power. Sacrifices have the most powerful powers. Her tribe, fearful of her actions, sought to kill her. Four of the tribe's strongest elders, each, imbued a part of their magic into a mighty ax before having Inadu's own mother kill her with the weapon. But right before she died Inadu cast one full spell. She cast a curse and bound all those present to the full moon. With that a werewolves were made," Hope tells Peter who eats popcorn nodding his head as Hope shakes her head.
"Around 500 years later vampires were made. My family was the original vampires," Hope says as Peter just stares and then eats more popcorn.
"My grandmother is the one who cast the spell as a way to protect my dad aunts and uncle. It happened due to my youngest uncle whom I never met died due to werewolves. It was an accident. Once a werewolf turns they have no control over their body besides a few special cases but I'll explain that later."
"Anyways my dad and uncle snuck out to watch the werewolves turn one full moon while everyone else hid. My uncle died and my father never truly forgave himself for that. My grandmother who was a witch herself called upon the sun for life and the ancient white oak tree, one of Nature's eternal objects, for immortality. That night, my grandfather offered the family wine laced with blood. Then, he drove his sword through their hearts killing them. When they woke up they had to drink human blood to survive and transition into a vampire," Hope explains as Peter stares wide-eyed.
"So that's the creation of the three species. Me I'm something that never should have existed. See my grandmother she had an affair and my dad wasn't her husbands. He was a werewolf who hadn't activated his curse. And the way you activate it is by taking a human life. When my father turned his blood lust something some vampires have a very hard time controlling was higher than usual due to his werewolf tendencies and murdered someone. With that, he became the first-ever hybrid. A combination of both species."
"But grandfather hated werewolves and hated my father even more for it. So instead of blaming my grandmother for her mistakes, he made her place a curse on my father. A very painful curse. Locking his werewolf side away for over a thousand years until he broke it," Hope tells him as she shuts her eyes remembering her own mother's screams when she was bound by that curse.
"My mother on the other hand was a werewolf alpha. She came from Inadu's mother line. She was the queen of her pack. The two had basically hate sex and somehow a loophole happened and I was created. And people have been trying to kill me since I was in the womb. For a tribrid goes against everything. Goes against nature herself," Hope says sighing as looks down before arms wrap her pulling her close.
"You kept saying was," Peter whispers as Hope closes her eyes.
"They died Pete. They died because of me," Hope whispers trying not to cry as Peter pulls her closer.
"Want to tell me what happened or do you want to eat ice cream and I'll just hold you while we watch Cutthroat Kitchen," Peter offers as Hope laughs shaking her head as she wipes her tears.
"No. I need to get through this," Hope tells Peter taking a deep breath as he releases her but continues holding her head.
"When I was around two something happened and my family had to be separated. I was never told the whole story I think my Mom wanted to protect me. But for the next five years, it was just me and my Mom moving around trying to stay safe. See my father made a lot of enemies and if they couldn't get to him I was the second-best thing. They didn't care if I was a child or not," Hope says as she looks down and Peter squeezes her hands.
"But I did get my whole family back eventually. For a day and then everything fell apart. You remember Inadu?" Hope asks Peter who nods at her making Hope take a deep breath and then continue.
"See after her death Inadu became more powerful as a spirit and haunted her fellow tribesmen. They eventually burned her remains, though not all the pieces could be destroyed. But as long as the pieces were together, her power continued to grow. The indestructible bones were distributed among four families, each charged with keeping the bones apart so that they would never come together again. But just because they were separated didn't mean she didn't have power. No, she still did and even got followers who worshipped her. They did violent rituals for Inadu who later became known as the Hollow," Hope says saying the name the Hollow quietly as if saying her name would summon her.
"Inadu would have been able to do more but the ancestors, which are dead witches in New Orleans who all want me dead basically, were holding her back. See what you need to know about ancestors is that more than most are cruel. They crave power just like Inadu and my aunt along with my uncles severed the link between the Ancestors and our world. Without the Ancestors to hold her back, Inadu was inadvertently allowed to go free. Following her release, several witches, werewolves, and humans became involved with the Hollow, intending to perform sacrificial magic in its name," Hope tells Peter who just stares at her.
"When I was seven almost eight I started seeing this glowing blue orb of light. In my dreams and while awake. I didn't think anything of it. I was a child, but I should have said something," Hope says whispering the last part. Maybe if she did things would be different. Maybe if did a lot of things, things would be different. Her parents and uncle would be alive. Her aunt and uncles wound remember her. Shaking that from her thought Hope continues her stories.
"The Hollow she needed power, Peter. And kids they have so much power in just their fingertips and it's untapped. The Hollow wanted more power. The kind that only comes from the sacrifice of kids with magic. For her to get stronger she had to kill them. Kill me. She almost did if it wasn't for Vincent one of my uncles sort of," Hope says chuckling slightly as she remembers Vincent making her think of her nephew Nik and how much she missed him.
"After that, they thought maybe she was defeated but Inadu would never give up that easily. She causes so much terror and pain. She killed my uncle although he came back and almost killed my family too but they overpowered her. Vincent killed her well sort of. He killed her body. And if she couldn't be in her original body she would take over someone else's. Someone from the same bloodline. Someone just or could be as powerful. Someone who no one especially my family would ever want to harm," Hope says looking at Peter who stares at her.
"You," Peter states instead of questions making Hope nod.
"It feels like I can still feel her sometimes. I can feel the coldness. It was so cold and I just wanted to give up. I had no control over my body. Feel as my spirit slowly began to leave my body. As I slowly began to die and she had full control," Hope says shivering slightly as Peter wraps an arm around pulling her close as he rubs her hands reminding Hope she is warm now and safe.
"After that, my family came up with a solution sort of like Inadu's tribe. To split her spirit into four pieces, and send a piece to be placed into my dad, aunt, and uncles in order to prevent the Hollow from rejoining herself back to full strength. But like always there was a cost they were warned never to see each other again, staying separated for all time. And they could never physically see me again either. For the hollow would try to latch by once me again. And that was the day my entire family fell apart," Hope says rubbing her chest as she felt the same pain she did that day.
Remembering her Dad tells her he loves her one last time before speeding away.
"After that, my Mom enrolled me in a private school. A special school that taught places like me well sort of. A safe place for witches vampires and werewolves to live among each other and learn about their powers. It was alright. I had to go back to Hope Marshall there because my dad was sort of a loner. I talked to my aunt Rebekah and Uncle on FaceTime probably weekly. My uncle Elijah was a different story. But my Dad-," Hope sighs leaning closer to Peter.
"We had I guess you could say falling out when I was nine. And he never contacted me again until something happened when I was fifteen. I'll explain that in a minute. He sort of just disappeared from my life and all I wanted was for him to tell me he loved me. That's all I wanted," Hope whispers to Peter who nods at that.
"So I did what I had to. I sold my blood," Hope says as Peter looks at her wide-eyed.
"You what?! Why?!" Peter exclaims as Hope laughs slightly at him.
"My blood has the ability to turn werewolves into hybrids like my father," Hope explains as Peter nods although still confused.
"But I got caught and suspended. Then my Mom found out and took the passport I brought with the money I got. So I had to do the next idea I got. An idea I got from my Uncle Kol. I kidnapped my Mom to draw my Dad back to New Orleans," Hope says as she closes her eyes and tries not to cry as she feels the pain and guilt begin to build.
"I had her place somewhere safe. And I was just going to happen for just a short time. Just enough time to talk to him. To find out if he even loved me anymore. If he blamed me,"ย Hope whispers as Peter grabs her hand squeezing in slight support as she sighs slightly.
"But what I didn't know is that someone was using me. A boy. Someone I liked. My first kiss and he was a vampire. One thing I should have told you is that vampires have certain abilities. They have the ability to get instead of your head. He got into mine and found out where my Mom was and told his mother who took her. She was a leader of this nazi cult sort of thing. She wanted werewolves and hybrids extinct and vampires to rise to their "rightful place" as the apex predators. She had an army of vampires sharing her prejudiced view on werewolves and hybrids, and was very manipulative."
"She tortured my Mom because of me. She had her because of me. I saw it happen. He kidnapped me next because I was so naive. And I watched as she bounded her werewolf side. I can sometimes still hear her screams. We almost got away you know and then Greeta appeared and my uncle compelled his memories away. I don't know all the details because I was knocked out but when I woke up I found out my Mom was dead. And it was all my fault. It was all my fault," Hope tells him as she begins sobbing making Peter pull her into him.
"She died because of me! I should have been happy with what I had! I had her! We were doing fine! I-it was all my fault!" Hope sobs clutching Peter who shushes her holding her tightly.
"You were a kid Hope. Fifteen who wanted her Dad. You had no way of knowing what would happen. They took advantage of you. They are to blame not you. You were a kid," Peter tells her as Hope sobs clutching to him wanting to believe his words but no matter what he said Hope would never truly forgive herself for her Mom's death or her Dad's.
"After-," Hope begins before taking a deep breath and wiping her tears.
"After my Mom, I wasn't just going to let my Dad and my family disappear again. So I took the hollow and placed it in me. I thought since I was older and had more control I could control her. I could hold it, but I couldn't. She was slowly taking my body over again. Killing me. I had to release my magic just to still be in control. But when I did I accidentally killed someone and activated my curse. My family didn't think I would survive my transition so my Dad came up with a plan. He would talk me through it as someone took the hollow out of me and placed it in him. He was going to sacrifice himself to save everyone. I stopped him before he could. But only for a little while. I got to say goodbye to him though before he sacrificed himself along with my uncle," Hope tells Peter who looks at her heartbroken.
"At their deaths, I went back to school and closed myself off. I only went because I promised my Dad I would graduate. I didn't really talk to anyone besides my headmaster when he needed my help with recruitment," Hope says as Peter looks at her confused.
"What do you mean needed your help?" Peter questions as Hope looks at him.
"Like needed my witch abilities in case something happens," Hope says as Peter looks in disbelief.
"So he used you," Peter says as Hope shakes her head.
"No. He didn't. He-Uhm he-," Hope begins to say before pausing and rethinking everything.
How she was only allowed to know what he wanted her know to. How she was used for her magic again and again but when wanted to do something he didn't like was called out for her mistakes. How all her faults who her father were always thrown in her face again and again with no apology afterwards.
"Maybe he did," Hope whispers softly as Peter looks at her sadly.
"Come here," Peter says as Hope sighs laying her head on his chest as Peter holds her.
"No one remembers me, Pete," Hope tells Peter who looks at her confused.
"There was this pit called Malivore that sent monsters after the school. I realized that the only way to get rid of it was me. I was the combination of everything it was made for. But if you go into the pit everyone forget you existed," Hope tells Peter who stares at her.
"When I jumped into it I thought just maybe when I...when I opened my eyes my parents would be right in front of me. They would hug me and never let me go. That's all I wanted but that didn't happen. Instead, I came back into this world where no one remembers me. I don't even know if they remember me. If they even know the reason why they died. Because they died because of me. Just like everyone else. It's always my fault," Hope says as her voice becomes quieter and quieter as Peter stares at her.
"You know I think you are the strongest person I've ever met. And I mean emotional Hope. I don't know how you went through all that and still breathing," Peter admits as Hope looks at him with tears running down her face.
"I feel sort of guilty for being happy everyone forgot you existed because that's why I met you. And I'm so happy you came into my life," Peter tells her as Hope hugs him tightly.
"I love you. You know that right?"ย Hope questions Peter who smiles.
"I love you too," Peter tells Hope who pulls back smiling at him.
"Star Wars?" Peter questions making Hope laugh but nods as she leans into Peter who begins searching for the movie holding Hope close to him making a promise to himself.
He would always protect her. She lost enough and didn't deserve to lose anymore. She needed a family and Peter swore he would become that family for her.
