why am i here? why am i still alive?

park jongseong walked slowly, ignoring the sharp pain on his face. he's got a bruise on his cheek, and a cut on the side of his lips, but that didn't bother him. he's used to it.

i'm used to being treated like this.

he went closer towards the old wishing fountain. it's already past midnight, and the moon was shining brightly above him.

he stopped when he reached the fountain. it was old, but there's still water flowing from it. jay looked around before he took a coin from the back pocket of his pants.

one wish. there's no harm in trying. he inhaled sharply before closing his eyes.

please, take me away from here. i want to d—

"what are you doing?"

jay quickly dropped the coin into the fountain as he heard a soft voice behind him.

he stared at the boy in front of him. his skin is pale, but he has a faint pink cheeks. he looks.... fragile.

jay stepped back when the boy went closer to him.

"why do you have wounds on your face?" the boy has his eyebrows furrowed as he examines jay's face. "come to think of it, you look familiar. do you go to crimson arts high?"

he shook his head as an answer. i know that school, it's just located opposite to mine, he wants to answer. but he chose to just stare at his face.

somehow, his face looks like the ones drawn from webtoons.

the boy shrugged. "well, what did you wish for?"

jay looked away. why would he say that to a stranger?

"i didn't wish for anything."

"really? liar." the boy went and stood in front of the fountain, holding the coin on his right hand.

jay couldn't help but stare again when the boy closed his eyes as he muttered something under his breath.

how does he look so.... breathtaking?

he watched as the boy dropped his coin into the fountain.

"you're too old to be believing on that," jay mumbles, kicking a random stone.

the boy chuckled. "it's really childish right? my mom told me that this fountain doesn't really grant wishes, and it's only a myth. but nothing's gonna go wrong if i believe in this."

he sighed and looked up the sky. "there's nothing wrong in believing. who knows? my wish might come true."

there's nothing wrong in believing. right.

jay slowly walked beside the stranger. the cold wind felt gentle against their skin.

"why, what did you wish for?"

the boy smiled at his question.

"a miracle."
