[ 010 ] an explosive night
LIKE YOU MEAN IT
CHAPTER TEN !
HAZEL HAD BEEN QUITE glad when Nell had all but forced her to stay over. Well force was a strong word when Hazel certainly hadn't opposed the suggestion. No, perhaps 'nicely coaxed' fit the situation better. Honestly, spending a few nights away from home, getting some good sleep and doing it all with the girl she'd been vying for and had successfully had sex with?
Yeah, life seemed pretty good.
That is until she found out the hard way that Nell was a mover. She'd been resting peacefully under the covers, enveloped within the warmth that the comforter and the body beside her offered when she'd been rudely awakened with a smack to the face. Apparently, Nell was so used to sleeping alone that her body naturally moved to fill up the large space her bed usually had. This of course caused Hazel a brief moment of pain pulsing through her nose, which had been hit during the unconscious attack.
Nell was also a deep sleeper. This was something that Hazel also had learned the hard way. No matter how desperately she shook the Hewitt girl, how loud she became as she called for her to waken, Nell remained fast asleep. This left Hazel with two choices, move to lay on the floor to avoid flying hands to the face or wrap her arms around the raven-haired girl and hold her so closely that her arms couldn't move.
Seeing as how Hazel didn't particularly fancy sleeping on the cold floorboards, she took the second option. The unfortunate moving from Nell had ceased almost immediately. From the very second she was wrapped up within Hazel's arms, her system seemed to relax and her hectic, unconscious mind seemed to ease.
When the next morning came around, Nell had been none the wiser to her attack upon Hazel's face until she saw the faintest bruise beginning to form. Guilt had flooded her veins in an instant. Obviously she hadn't meant to harm the Callahan girl. Her growing guilt was assuaged by Hazel before it could consume her whole. With a soft reassuring curl of the lips, Hazel had hushed the apologies from Nell stating that 'it doesn't even hurt.'
Random apologetic glances from Nell were sent Hazel's way all throughout the day. She still felt bad despite Hazel's assurance that she wasn't mad.
When lunchtime came around and about thirty apology riddled looks had been been received from the Callahan girl, she found herself distracted as she followed practically on the heel of Isabel as she stalked angrily towards Jeff in the lunchroom. She had learned of his infidelity and was extremely annoyed, as she should be.
Nell stood off to the side with a packet of chips in her hands and was snacking away while she watched on. She could almost see the frustration and anger that Isabel exuded as she confront him.
As Nell placed another chip into her mouth and chewed, Annie and Slyvie slid up beside her, both looking on in confusion. Annie's brows furrowed as she questioned, "What's going on?"
"Isabel's confronting Jeff about him cheating on her with Hazel's mom." The Hewitt girl responded, glancing briefly at the republican beside her before shifting her gaze back to Isabel.
"She looks pissed." Slyvie commented though they could only see the back of Isabel's head. You frankly didn't need to see her face to sense the sheer anger that was radiating off of her.
"Are you cheating on me again?" Isabel loudly questioned. She wanted to keep her cool. She refused to let him get to her.
"Again?" Nell balked at this. She couldn't believe it. Her brows furrowed with pity towards the girl as she sighed out, "Oh, Isabel sweetie."
"Baby, no! No!" Jeff immediately denied the accusation. He looked completely offended, as if he couldn't believe she would ever accuse him of that. "Why would I—why would I do that? That was one time. With your sister just one—four times. No, I would never cheat on you again, okay? I promise you, I am not sleeping with her."
Hazel took a step forward. "I literally saw you yesterday."
"Shut up nerd, I fucked your mom!" Jeff bellowed aggressively at the Callahan girl, pointing obnoxiously at her. The cocky expression upon his face fell mere seconds later being replaced by a look of realisation. He had totally fucked himself over.
Laughter consumed with bitterness dripped from Isabel's pink tinted lips as she uttered, "Yeah, we're done."
She then spun away from her now ex-boyfriend, ignoring the way he begged for her to come back. Her gaze had turned sharp, her shoulders back and her movements oozing with confidence. She had had enough.
As all the girls from the club began to group around her, following along behind her as she sauntered forward, Isabel declared, "I'm getting revenge. I'm gonna fuck up some football players and I'm buying a gun."
She spoke with such conviction, such confidence.
"Hell yeah, we'll go to my stepdads." Slyvie giddily added on, a devilishly wide grin upon her lips.
Wanting to pitch in, Annie spoke up. "What about like we egg them?"
"What about like a bomb?" Silence fell upon them all. One by one they all turned back, spinning around on their heels to focus that gaze upon an innocent seeming Hazel Callahan. She stood still, fingers twiddling down by her sides.
With a shrug of the shoulders, Hazel continued, "Like a super small bomb? Like they're super easy to make and I can just put it under his car and it can be a distraction?"
How on earth did they respond to that? A bomb? What kind of suggestion what that but also—most of them definitely did consider it for a second. Using a bomb almost as a warning against the figurehead of the treatment they received on the daily did seem very tempting.
Finally PJ chose to speak up for the group. Each word that fell from her lips was completely slathered in sarcasm. "Yeah, Hazel. Let's do terrorism."
A chuckle from Nell caused Hazel to glance her way as the rest of the group headed off. "Do I wanna ask how you know how to build a bomb?" Nell questioned with a quirked left brow. She was definitely amused by the whole situation.
All the short haired girl said in response was, "Wikihow."
"This is either the strangest or hottest thing I've ever learned about you." Nell breathed out her admission. She genuinely found this revelation about the Callahan girl surprising and yet also not. Hazel's interest in bombs actually made sense the more the raven haired girl thought about it.
A blush began to dust across Hazel's cheeks at the Hewitt girl's words. Heat traveled through her body as she allowed a sheepish smile to grace her lips. Even now, after she'd seen Nell at her most vulnerable, her most naked self, her flirtatious words still left Hazel a crimson blushed mess.

CLOAKED IN THE SHADOWS, shrouded in the total darkness of night while dressed all in black, the entire self defence club had rallied around a vengeful Isabel as they made their way to Jeff's home. Every single one of them had packed themselves in a van, armed with cartons of eggs and toilet rolls at the ready.
Uglying up the outside of a dickhead's home was probably the best bonding experience.
The side door to the van slowly peeled open, revealing the group of girls staring off ahead at Jeff's house. The few of them that went the extra mile removed the balaclava they had purchased for that night specifically from their face, pushing it up and over their head.
"Everybody stay low." Brittany commanded in a hushed voice as she and the others ducked out of the van, their hands full with their weapons of choice.
Annie nodded in agreement. "Yeah, don't get seen." She warned the group before speedily making her way towards the house, Slyvie and Brittany in tow.
Nell, who had been tiptoeing forward behind the group of girls glanced to her side to see Hazel skulking off towards the other side of the house. Immediately, in a loud whisper she called out, "Hey, where are you going?"
The Callahan girl halted in place, her body elevated slightly as she remained on the toes of her feet. She spun around slightly with a soft smile. "I've got a bomb to set up." Hazel replied, holding up the small makeshift bomb she'd brought along with her.
A reluctant sigh fell from Nell's lips. She kept her voice low as she stepped towards Hazel's, her gaze bouncing back and forth between the bomb and the brunette's face. "This isn't gonna do any serious damage, right? We can't afford to go to jail."
Frankly, Hazel had no fucking clue how much damage this bomb would cause. She'd never attached a bomb to something as big as a car before. It was a truly guessing game.
Not wishing to alarm her gi—friend, Hazel shrugged her shoulders and chose to feign oblivion. "Barely any damage whatsoever. Like such little damage that I might as well not even set it up."
Though her words sounded nonchalant, the twinkle of mischief that danced gleefully in her eyes and the way she had to bit at her bottom lip to contain excitement told Nell everything she needed to know. This bomb would most likely caused quite a substantial amount of damage but it was Jeff, so who the fuck cared? If getting to see this level of joy from Hazel meant damaging a prick's car, so be it.
The Hewitt girl had to physically hold herself back from grabbing Hazel and kissing her. The joy on her face was so hard to resist but Nell knew there was a time and a place. With a playful roll of the eyes, she ushered Hazel away. "Go! Go before I drop these eggs."
Hazel sent her a thrilled grin before dashing away. Nell sighed. Why does she have to be so cute? She wondered as she began to make her way over to the girls, all of whom had begun to egg and TP the jock's home.
One by one, each and every one of them, save for Isabel and Josie who had remained in the van as lookouts, lobbed eggs at the home. Shells cracked as the homes white exterior became smeared with yellow yolk. Long, continuous strands of toilet roll wrapped itself around the hedges that lined the house as well as the huge pillars that decorated the homes walkway. Everywhere you looked, remnants of the groups presence sat, mocking Jeff, his treatment of Isabel and everything he stood for.
Giggles tumbled free from the lips of the triumphant group of girls. A feeling of total satisfaction has consumed them all as they all began to make their way back to the van.
"Does anyone know where the fuck Hazel is?" PJ questioned the group, glancing in confusion. She'd not seen the girl since they first arrived and they needed to get going before someone caught them lurking around.
Instead of answering her friend, Nell chose to simply begin walking in the direction she'd seen Hazel venture in and collect her. She'd only gotten about halfway across the road when just up ahead, Nell saw the Callahan girl rushing back towards the direction of the van, panic and fear plastered across her face.
"It's gonna blow!" Hazel cried out, her elevated voice echoing throughout the quiet neighbourhood.
Immediately, Nell spun around on her heel and started rushing back to the van. The ground suddenly shook violently as the beautiful crimson coloured car exploded. Metal shrapnel flew through the air at a million miles per hour as hues of red and orange embers began dancing through the night sky.
The blast ripped through the earth, sending vibrations of the most aggressive nature across the ground. The asphalt beneath the Hewitt girl shook as she ran causing her to lose her footing and crash face first into the ground. The skin of her face tore open at collision, scraping open at first touch. A groan of utter pain rumbled within her chest while blood began to trickle down her cheeks and tiny stones became embedded within her wounds.
"Fuck!" Nell cried out, her voice muffled as her face remained pressed against the ground. Screams of fear echoed through the air as multiple pairs of hands grabbed at the girl and yanked her to her feet.
With all the girls moving the fastest they'd ever gone, Hazel and PJ managed to lug the stumbling Nell into the back of the van as rushed yells to 'get the fuck out of there' filled the vehicle. The engine began to roar before the side door had even shut, sending the vehicle in motion. Frantic cries to move away from the scene of the crime faster as they reversed in a panic. After struggling for a few seconds, finally they were able to drive down the neighbourhood, leaving the egged house and the still burning car in their wake.

chapter ten. not proofread.
I headcanon that Hazel had never blown anything up before the car like she'd maybe attached a bomb to a teddybear once but never a car so she truly didn't expect such a huge blast.
