Isabella walked into the Andrews' kitchen where Jughead and Archie had a pizza in front of them, she shook her head. "Of course, you two are eating pizza," Isabella teased as she put a box in front of Jughead. "I don't like my birthday, why do you think I'll like gifts?" Jughead asked her as Archie bit into his pizza. "It's punishment for not telling me about your birthday," Isabella told him before taking a slice of pizza. Archie shrugged when Jughead looked at him, the boy sighed before standing up and opening the box. He pulled out a denim jacket that had Jughead sewn into the front left breast pocket, the inside was cotton for warmth.
"You really didn't have to do this," Jughead told her but she simply winked at him before biting into the pizza. "Thank you," Jughead told her before pulling the jacket on, smiling at the fact it fit nicely. Jughead then looked at Isabella to see she was wearing a blue dress and black ankle boots, he thought she was the most beautiful person in the world as she laughed at Archie dropping some of his pizza toppings. "So, what double feature are we going to see?" Isabella asked as she sat down leaving the rest of the pizza to the boys.
"American Werewolf in London and Animal House," Jughead told her watching as her eyes lit up with a grin. "John Landis Double Feature sounds like a dream," Isabella told him as Archie looked between them, he smirked at the idea he had. "Why don't just you two go?" Archie suggested causing Jughead and Isabella to look at him. "What happened to the trio?" Isabella asked with a grin, "Or are you pulling out because of your childish fear of the werewolf in the movie?" Archie rolled his eyes before giving Jughead a look the boy didn't understand.
"I'll be back," Isabella made her way upstairs to the bathroom leaving Archie to say what he was trying to signal. "Dude, you could make a move. A movie is the best opportunity to seize the day and make it a date," Archie explained while motioning towards the stairs where Isabella had gone. "That's not a good idea, Archie. I hate my birthday but I'm not about to make a bad day worse by risking a friendship that I fought too hard for," Jughead told him, Archie sighed wanting to push but unfortunately, he knew better than that. Though he didn't know that Jughead wanted to make a move on Isabella, he just wasn't sure how.
"Why do you hate your birthday so much, Jug?" Archie asked causing Isabella to stop at the top of the stairs. "PTSD from when I was a kid," Jughead replied with a sigh, Isabella continued down the stairs and walked over to stand with Archie sending Jughead a reassuring smile. "I don't know. Things were always messed up at home usually because of my dad, and there was this arbitrary day that we would just get together and pretend things were great, we were normal," Jughead explained to the cousins. "It just made me feel really lonely," Jughead added, Archie looked down while Isabella grabbed his hand in her own.

Jughead and Isabella sat down for the movie with a bucket of popcorn between them, they tried to convince Archie to join them but he wasn't so inclined, but the two were shocked to see Betty and Kevin presently seated a few rows behind them. The duo focused on the movie until Jughead turned his head to whisper to Isabella, "I heard from Moose that Chuck was bothering you by your locker, what was that about?" Isabella turned her head to look at Jughead. "He was just being Chuck Clayton and stirring trouble, nothing to worry about," Isabella assured him. "Heard that Betty confronted him too," Jughead added.
"Yeah but she handled it," Isabella told him before letting out a slow breath, she smiled at the movie as Jughead decided to man up and put his arm around Isabella's shoulders; truthfully, he waited for her to move away but instead she moved her head to rest on his shoulder prompting him to wrap his arm tighter around her. Betty and Kevin shared a hesitant look seeing the two being adorable but the blonde moved to convince Jughead and Isabella to leave early, Isabella whined the entire time about missing Animal House making Jughead smile fondly at her; he didn't understand why Betty pulled them out of the Bijou when he was finally getting somewhere with Isabella.

Betty led the duo into the Andrews home and the lights turned on to reveal Archie, Ethel, Joaquin, Kevin and Veronica in the background screaming out "surprise" startling an unimpressed Jughead and a worried Isabella. "This is why you dragged us out of the double feature?" Jughead asked Betty while Isabella shared a look with Archie noticing his stumbling nature before looking over at the alcohol cabinet which Veronica was raiding. "Happy birthday, bro," Archie spoke as he hugged Jughead. "Hey, you really shouldn't have," Jughead told him while Isabella was worried, she knew Jughead wouldn't like the idea of alcohol and neither did she.
Isabella walked out of the dining room into the living room, she leaned against the wall and realised that Archie was taking his parent's divorce worse than he claimed. Isabella was pulled into the room with Betty as she sang happy birthday in a very haunting way before lightly nudging Isabella closer to Jughead. "Blow out the candles, make a wish," Betty encouraged hoping to make Jughead's birthday better after everything he had done for her. "I wish it were just the two of us right now," Jughead whispered to Isabella who smiled slightly.
Jughead made his way into the kitchen where Veronica and Archie were hugging, Betty followed him while Isabella trailed behind them. "Oh, sorry," Jughead spoke as he noticed the two. "Just coming to get ice cream. Is everything okay?" Betty asked as she stepped around Jughead ready to comfort her friends. "Yeah. No, I'm just not in a party mood like I usually am," Veronica told them honestly. "That makes two of us," Jughead told her as he moved to leave. "Wait," Betty stopped Jughead, "You're not upset that I threw you a party, are you?" Isabella rolled her eyes, she adored Betty but she should've known better than to go against Jughead's wishes.
"It is nice, Betty. I appreciate it," Jughead told her before sighing, "It's just, I would be happier if it was the five of us in a booth at Pop's." Isabella smiled at that, she wanted to go to Pop's after the movie for a milkshake hoping the others would too but now she knew why the others blew off that idea. "Yeah, but we always do that. I wanted to do something special," Betty told him. "The road to hell is paved with good intentions," Jughead quoted causing Archie to scoff to himself in his drunken state. "Why is everything so doom and gloom with you, Jug? Why can't it just be normal for once?" Betty asked him causing Isabella to step forward.
"I'm not normal, I'm not wired to be normal," Jughead answered her with annoyance, he wanted the day to be over at this point. The doorbell rang signalling to Isabella that this night was about to get so much worse than it already was and she was wishing that she was back at the Bijou with Jughead's arm around her and one of her favourite movies playing on screen. "How many more people did you invite to this thing?" Jughead asked them. "No one. Inner circle only," Betty told him before the five of them stepped into the foyer, the door opened to reveal Cheryl and an entourage.
Isabella walked away before Cheryl said a word, she shook her head knowing with Cheryl wanting revenge on Veronica and Chuck wanting to punish Betty, the whole party was gonna go downhill and despite wanting to leave; her loyalty to her friends made her stay. She made herself comfortable on the couch in the shed with Vegas, the Andrews' family dog. She gently stroked his fur as she felt the vibrations of the music through the floor, it wasn't long till Jughead found his way there and looked up at Isabella. "This is where you disappeared too," Jughead said as he walked over and sat down with her.
"I'm sorry, JJ. If I had known about the party plan--" Jughead cut her off, "--I'm thinking they kept you out of it because they knew you'd shut it down." Isabella nodded instantly, "Of course! This isn't what you wanted, they didn't do this for you, they did it for them." Jughead smiled at Isabella as she ran her fingers through her hair, he agreed with her words and it made him realise how lucky he was to have Isabella in his life. Before he could say anything, the door opened to reveal Archie who was clearly extremely drunk leaving Isabella unimpressed with the boy.
"Dude! Valerie just got here. You think she wants me back?" Archie asked Jughead, he glanced at Isabella who turned her full attention to Vegas showing Archie she didn't want to talk to him right now. "Archie, as my blood brother, it was your sole responsibility to ensure that something like this never happened on my birthday. And now we're here. In the middle of a Seth Rogen movie," Jughead expressed openly to Archie though Isabella knew this wasn't the time considering Archie's intoxicated state. "This was Betty's idea, okay? I just went along with it," Archie told him defensively making Isabella scoff.
"It's so not me," Jughead argued back. "It doesn't matter, Jughead. You're one of her friends now," Archie told Jughead who furrowed his brows. "What does that mean?" Jughead asked him with his own defensive stance. "It means you're getting your birthday party whether you want one or not," Archie answered him while Isabella noticed the new face entering the room. "Dad, hey," Jughead stood up from the couch while Isabella swallowed carefully. "Happy birthday, Jughead," FP said as he walked closer, Isabella smiled softly. "How are you, Mr Jones?" Archie asked as he stood up straight.
"Happy to be here, celebrating with my son," FP answered him, "Didn't realise you had so many friends." Isabella scoffed at that knowing that Jughead would make better friends than the ones inside. "I don't. Fair warning, you're the only adult here," Jughead told him. "So I gather. Where can I put this?" FP directed the question toward Archie. "Table in the den," Archie answered him, FP nodded at Isabella who sent him a smile. "Betty called you?" Jughead asked him. "Yeah, she showed up too. She knows what she wants, that one," FP answered before leaving the shed, glancing at Isabella. Isabella didn't know why but his words sent a spark of jealousy in Isabella, she began questioning on whether Betty had feelings for Jughead.
