"Darkness.."

A young man floats, his body submerged in icy water, a long branch clutched between his slender fingers.

"That's the first thing I remember. It was dark..and it was cold..and I was scared.."

His eyes open, frost sticking between his eyelashes, his face was pale, a sickly pale, while his hair slowly turned from a soft brown to a blinding white.

"..then I saw the moon.."

The ice crackles as the boy slowly emerges, a cloak draped comfortably around his frame.

"It was so big and it was so bright. It seemed to chase the darkness away."

He gasps as he was raised from the water, his breath visible with each panting breath he breathed out.

He blinked rapidly as he stared up at the large moon in the sky.

"And when it did..I wasn't scared anymore.."

His body relaxed as he was gently lowered from the air onto his bare feet, the ice below him mending back together, like magic.

"Why I was there and what I was meant to do...that I've never known."

He looks down at his hands in confusion and before looking over his outfit, a small pout playing on his lips.

"..and a part of me wonders if I ever will.."

He looks up at the moon, his eyes glazing over. He yelps and chuckles as he slips, catching himself before he could fall.

He walks forward a few steps, gasping lightly as his foot taps a wooden object. He looks down at the shepherd's staff, tapping it with his foot once more.

A frost gathers where he touched, making him narrow his eyes in confusion before he leans down and grabs it.

He jolts back in slight fear as it lights up, dropping it on one side and making it release a beautiful frost pattern along the ice.

He looks down at the staff with a grin, and quickly decides to experiment. He slowly taps one of the trees with the end of the staff, making it frost over as he gently touches it with another smile.

He does the same to another tree, biting his lip before grinning and bouncing with a laugh of excitement.

He runs across the ice, dragging his staff behind him to create a beautiful frost. He grunts and laughs as he almost slips again, catching himself as he continues to run.

He twirls around as he runs, waving his staff around eagerly with a laugh.

He pauses and slips back, gasping and exclaiming in fear as he was suddenly raised into the air.

He balances on the wind, smiling and looking down at his patterns he made.

The wind whistles before disappearing, making him yelp as he begins to fall. He grunts as he crashes through the trees, landing roughly on a large branch.

He grins and chuckles, sitting up and standing on the branch as he notices a town.

...

He yells as the wind carries him, flailing around as the wind lowers him, and he falls onto his face.

The boy yelps as he staggers to his feet with a laugh, flipping his cape back over his head.
He dusts some frost from his cape before greeting some folk, not knowing someone was watching him from a nearby rooftop.

He waves at a woman, laughing as she simply walks past.

"Hello! Hello!!" He tries to greet, tilting his head in confusion as people seem to ignore him. "Good evening, ma'am. Ma'am?"

A dog barking catches his attention, making him smile when he notices a child running his way.

"Oh! Uh, excuse me. Can you tell me where I am?" He kneels down, gasping as the child runs right through him. He looks around, his eyes wide with fear.

...

A small field of tulips lay bare, the flowers frosted over due to the decrease in temperature. In the middle of the field, lay a small body, a girl.

She lay on her back, her hair messy and disheveled. She wore a simple, almost red dress shirt that reached just above her knees.

A big, red cloak covered her small frame, the hood pressing against her shoulders, white fur embroidered at the edges.

She breathed deep, her lungs stinging from the harsh, cold air. Slowly, she opened her eyes, her (E/C) hues brightening when they locked on the moon.

"Back to work moonie?" She mumbles, her lips pulling into a small smile. She slowly sits up, her cloak falling to end around her shoulders.

The wind suddenly picks up, gently blowing her hair infront of her eyes, causing the girl to frown. She harshly flips her hair away from her face, her eyes turning up and glaring at the moon.

"A new one??" She whispers harshly, staggering to her feet with a huff. "Your joking!"

She straightens out, her eyes glaring furiously at the huge rock. "Do you not remember what happened the last time you did this?" She questions, her hands turning to fists.

The wind picks up once more, brushing slightly against the girls cheeks. Her eyes widen, shaking her head harshly.

"I'm not looking after it!!"

The wind flaps harshly this time, a few petals bursting into the air. The girl cries out.

"Alright, alright!!" The wind stops, seemingly pleased with the girl.

She turns around, her hair flying across her shoulder as she stomps through the field, pulling her cloak tighter to her frame as she mumbles curses towards the being that gave her life.

"Bloody ridiculous.."

...

The boy pants and he rises, yelping as another person walks through him, followed by a few more, causing him to clutch his chest at the feeling.

"Hello?!" He cries out, hoping someone would hear him.

"My name..is Jack Frost."

Jack looks around with fear, gasping as he bumps into someone. He quickly spins around, gripping his staff tightly as he staggers back.

"How do I know that?"

"Aim that thing away from the face please!!"

Jack's eyes widen at the voice, his breath catching as the voice was directed towards him.

He looks up, his pupils dilating when he focuses on the being infront of him. The girl was tall, taller than him, about a foot taller.

Her hair draped gracefully down her shoulders, fluffy and bouncy as she looked around.

"Fluffy hair", Jack took note, his breathing calming down as he lowered his staff, gulping once as his shoulders slump down.

"You can see me..?" He whispers in disbelief, his eyes glazing over as tears slowly well up. The girl huffs, her hands on her hips as she frowns towards the frightened boy.

"You can see me!!" Jack suddenly yells, lurching forward, he wraps the girl in a tight hug, his face pressed against her chest. Tears stream down his face as he presses his palms against the girls back.

She yelps, her face burning red as her body goes stiff. She tries prying him off, but that only causes Jack to clutch onto her tighter.

Slowly, she brings her hands down, her fingers threading together through the boys soft, white locks.

"Very fluffy", she thinks, her face softening as her lips slowly form into a pout. She looks up, her eyes setting on the moon, bright and full against the dark sky.

"What's your name?" She mumbles, her eyes never leaving the big rock. Slowly, Jack detaches himself from the girl, his cheeks stained red. He took a step back but kept his hands remained firm against her hips.

As if he was scared that if he let her go, she'd disappear.

"I..I don't know.." he wheezed, his breathing uneven and shallow, he looked up, his bright blue eyes locking with the girls (E/C) dull eyes.

He took note of her expression, her eyes had lost their spark, but her face seemed full of life.

"It's alright.." the girl mumbled as she gently ruffled the boys hair, causing him to squirm under her gaze. "We'll figure it out together." She sighs, her body relaxing as she scanned the boy's features.

"We stayed there for so long..not a word spoken between us.."

They stood there for a while, no words exchanged as they watched the humans pass by, some passing through them, causing them to shiver at the ghost feeling.

Finally, the boy looked up, "What's your name?" He asks, tilting his head as he pulled his cloak closer to his chest. The girl looked down at the boy, her breath picking up as she looked from him to her creator.

She blinked slowly towards the moon, her eyes begging, pleading for whether or not she should give her name to this stranger.

The wind did not pick up, nor did the moon shine, he gave no answer to the girl. It was her decision to make.

So she chose the answer that she sought for.

She looked down at the boy once more, she sucked in a breath, and she spoke, her voice just above a whisper.

"After a while..I finally met the person who made me feel safe."

"(Y/N) (L/N).." she spoke, a smile gracing her features.

"But I also go by Horae, I'm a deity of spring.."

The boy smiles wide, his eyes bright as he embraces the girl once more. (Y/N) huffed, rolling her eyes as she allowed it.

"But that was a long..long time ago.."
