CARMEN HAYES HAS ALWAYS DRIFTED TO THE BACKGROUND. Despite her father being a basketball legend the Hayes teen had always been in the shadows and it became even more prominent once her twin brother Noah was chosen for the Tree Hill Ravens varsity basketball team. Throughout her life, Carmen has always been expected to be the best by her father.

And so she was. She always got the best grades, volunteered to tutor kids in her free time, and was already wanted by some of the top Ivy leagues in the country at only fifteen. And she kept her head down, making sure to never draw too much attention to herself.

So when she catches the eyes of one of the school's star basketball players her life soon changes rapidly. He was everything her father warned her to stay away from. A jock, a troublemaker, a player, and most importantly...

Nathan Scott was the definition of everything her family was meant to hate, he was arrogant, bad at school, spoiled, unserious, and a player.

But worst of all he was the youngest son to Dan Scott her dad's high school rival, and an all-around asshole to everyone even his own family especially his older brother Lucas who happened to be one of Carmen's best friends.

Despite their fathers' evident hatred for each other that doesn't seem to deter the Scott teen from craving the attention of the Hayes girl. And despite her best interest she begins to find herself falling deeper and deeper into the boy's clutches.

Will she be able to find her way out of her father and brother's shadow and venture out of her shell?

Or will the challenges of school, family, and relationships cause her to drift farther from the light?
