Chapter-9

Author's pov:

"Why is Dad still not home?" He pondered, pacing around the small living room. His eyes brimmed as he realized it was already night and his father had not reached out to him since the time he left for work in the morning.

His phone suddenly rang in his pockets making him panic as he fumbled with his phone and a huge smile replaced his tensed face upon reading his dad's contact. He quickly answered it but all he could hear was someone sniggering as they said, "You are going to die soon, my dear son."

"Huh." Namjoon gasped, sitting up on his bunk bed with his hair disheveled and tear-dried cheeks. His eyes frantically moved around as he panted, slowly processing his environment as he realized he was in the on-call room of the hospital and that was just another dream he was having.

He sighed and covered his face, "What's up with these dreams? Why don't they stop?" He whined, he was fed up of having to see the same dreams often. They were a bunch of stupid dreams! Nonetheless, he pushed his hair back, combing it through his fingers and heard his phone vibrating, it was his alarm signaling it was time to go home. At this point, having an alarm was useless when you have bullshit dreams to wake you up.

Namjoon stood up and gathered his things, ready to go home. His phone, which was resting on his bed, tinged with a notification. Falynn's name lit up on the screen.

Falynnnn
Hey!
Wanna have dinner together?
The usual place :)

Falynn and Namjoon were friends. They met each other through Jimin and Taehyung. It was a year and a half ago, when Taehyung had invited him to a dinner at a restaurant where Falynn was also present. Namjoon felt attracted to the young lady in bright red satin cami dress with a side slit, maybe it was the sexy dress, or her high heels that made her look tall and stunning or it was her natural personality which captivated him. It was definitely the last one!

The two had clicked well after that, chit chatting online whenever they had time, going out on little friendly dates. It was quite obvious that Namjoon liked her as he would always blush whenever she was around, the serious and confident Kim Namjoon would disappear at that time. About Falynn, she kind of liked him as well. But she was rather confused whether it was just platonic liking or something more, although she preferred the former part but one thing she could never lie about was the way his name would bring a smile on her face no matter how bad her day went.

Namjoon picked up his bag and phone, he unlocked it and a wide smile formed on his lips at the notification. He quickly replied to her in excitement, the excitement to meet her after two hectic weeks was on a different level.

He straightened his clothes and groomed himself, making sure that his hair was kind of messy so that she could play with it, she loved it that way. Just moments later, he was walking out of the hospital with quick steps. He didn't want to keep her waiting, her company was closer to the restaurant than his hospital.

"Fuck." He cursed under his breath, as he looked for his car keys-it wasn't in his pocket.

'It's in the room.' He screamed silently, jumping like a monkey in the dark parking spot and ran back to get it.

She tapped her fingers gently on the black wooden table as she waited for him, the soft music playing in the background making her mood better and better. She had been missing him since the previous night and planned to take him out for dinner today, even though she was tired after meeting Jungkook in the afternoon and then work meetings and stuff, she still wanted to see Namjoon.

The fancy restaurant was not as packed as usual, which made it quite easy for her to hear the footsteps nearing her. Namjoon stood beside her chair, his hair messily covering his forehead making him look sexy.

"Hey!" He greeted, pulling the chair back and taking a seat in front of her.

She smiled and greeted him back. "Hey," He flashed a smile at her.

"What took you so long?" She asked as she watched him calling the waiter.

"Sorry, I was stuck in traffic." He answered with a slight smile. The waiter came up and gave them each a menu, the two took their time to decide and finally gave their orders.

The two softly smiled at each other as they wondered about a topic to talk about. Falynn wanted to tell him about last night, when she was taking a stroll around the market and found berries which reminded her of him as they were his favorite, and she ended up buying lots of them but she was embarrassed. Because Namjoon knew very well that she disliked berries, so why would she buy them? She internally groaned, she bought them in case he comes over sometimes, so she can offer them to him.

Namjoon, on the other hand, wanted to let her know how much he had missed her. How much he had craved just her presence. He didn't mind if they didn't have dinner, as long as she was with him, he knew he would be okay. He cleared his throat, "Been long since we last met, yeah?"

She immediately looked at him and smiled, "Yeah. We were so caught up with work."

He agreed, "Fal, why do we always have dinner here?" He questioned, his eyes focused on her attractive side profile.

She chuckled softly, "No other restaurant gives me this peaceful vibe which this one gives."

"Can't disagree on that." He giggled, thinking about the night they bumped into each other in the restaurant and Falynn asked him to join her for dinner. And after that, the two never changed their dinner spot, this was the restaurant where they first met because of their friends and the second time they met, they became friends. Now, even the restaurant manager was familiar with them.

He once suggested they try some other restaurant but oh boy! Falynn refused him immediately as she declared that this restaurant was her favorite now and he was her permanent dinner partner in the restaurant and that she would never go there without him. He liked her more and more, she always made him feel special through her words and her actions. Although she might seem tough, she was actually very sweet in person.

Falynn inhaled deeply with a smile plastered on her lips, "I missed this place." She muttered.

"And I missed you."

Her eyes widened at the sudden words that slipped out of his mouth, her gaze instantly met his and she could see him blushing out of embarrassment.

"I-I mean, I missed this place too. It's g-good to be here with you a-again." He stammered and bit his tongue gently, she showed him a shy smile as she looked away.

The food they ordered, side dishes, Korean barbecue with some soju, arrived. Namjoon had tried to stop her from ordering soju as he knew she had a low alcohol tolerance and in addition to that, she had to work the next day. But Falynn's puppy eyes were all it took for him to surrender and do what she wanted.

"I repeat, you have a low alcohol tolerance, Fal." He said, sighing as he looked at her, eyeing the two bottles of soju instead of the delicious barbecue.

She giggled, "I know. But when you have a boss like Park Jimin, nothing can be helped."

He chuckled, "Does he overwork you?" he asked, going to pick up his chopsticks as he got ready to grill the pork.

"Not really, Joon. As a secretary, I obviously have a lot of work to do and then his constant changes in mood and wanting everything to be perfect, adds more work. He keeps forgetting to bring one or the other thing and I have to go to his home and get it." She huffed, remembering all those terrible times she had to spend in the traffic just to get his laptop, document, clothes because he never kept a spare in his car or office and other unimportant things.

Namjoon guffawed as he knew half of the stories, "He is very silly sometimes." She agreed with him.

"Hey, how's Ms. Jiwon?" She asked. The lady mentioned was one of Namjoon's patients, who was very sick and had to go through a surgery which was tough, there was only a 60% possibility that it would be successful. There wasn't a day when Namjoon hadn't encouraged her. He had made her understand that she wasn't weak, she wasn't alone and he would be there with her throughout the journey.

"She's recovering well." He smiled, endearingly and added, "She often asks about you."

"Aww, so sweet. I would love to visit her sometime." She said, Falynn had accompanied Namjoon a few times to visit her. She had bought flowers and fruits for her, talked to her and made her laugh a lot while her mom was away for a bit.

"Let me know when you are free, I will take you to her."

She nodded at him, "Anyways." She took a bite of kimchi as she asked, "How's life?"

A sigh escaped his lips, "My days always end up being stressful! The amount of surgeries I have to do nowadays is exhausting." He stopped as Falynn fed him some spicy rice cakes, a blush crept up his face and he continued after eating them, "I had to work in straight 48-hour shifts, surviving on snacks and tea." He huffed, shaking his head slowly.

She showed a tight lipped smile as she put her hand on top of his, "It's okay, you are just doing your job. And I hope this little dinner night removes some of your stress?"

He giggled, "It did. I wish to spend some time with you whenever I'm stressed." She fed him some more as he grilled the porks, flipping some of them with his chopsticks.

She blushed, "You can call me anytime, Joon. I can adjust my schedule and we can go out for a while." She offered, eating some of the rice cakes herself.

He smiled widely at her, his cheeks as red as hers as he hummed at her answer. "I will." he muttered, adoring her.

She caught him staring at her and her cheeks flushed more, tearing her gaze away from him, she inquired, "Why are you staring at me like that?" She asked with her mouth full.

He let out a soft sigh as he dreamily replied, "You look very pretty today."

Her eyes widened and she tried her best to not smile at the compliment but she failed. She was not expecting that as she was really tired after work. "Oh, stop it!" Falynn giggled, not meeting his eyes.

In contrast to what she was wearing in the afternoon, she now sported a pink sweater with long sleeves and twisted turtleneck, paired with black high waist trousers, her feet covered with black heeled boots. Her black hair was now in a messy bun, he could see some strands of hair falling on her face. She had light makeup on but her pink glossy lips stood out more even after an exhausting day.

Namjoon chuckled lightly, "What? I'm not lying. You look very pretty, I'm jealous of the people at work who got to see you the whole day." he flirted, making her unable to control herself.

With a broad smile on her face she slapped his arm playfully, "Stop it, I'm a blushing mess here." He laughed loudly and grabbed her hand in the process as he kept his chopsticks aside.

"You really made my day. I think the last time I was happy was when you gave me a surprise visit at the hospital." He confessed and regretted a bit immediately as he watched her scowl at him. He bit his lips to avoid laughing again.

"One more cheeky line and I will make sure your dimples never show up when you smile." She threatened, smirking at him.

He grinned, "That doesn't sound scary at all, Falynn."

"I will shave off your eyebrows."

"Okay, ma'am! I'm sorry! I won't flirt again until we are done with our dinner." He winked, flashing his best smile at her.

Falynn rolled her eyes, "Whatever. And wish I could compliment you too." She dramatically sighed, making his face drop at her words.

"H-Hey! Do I look bad?" His voice cracked at the end. He wore a light blue pain fit polo T-shirt paired up with white trousers and white sneakers, his biceps popping out making him look hotter. He was the definition of distraction. He thought he looked good, so he made sure to check before meeting her.

She stared at his muscles and gulped as she nervously uttered, "You look beyond good..."

He cocked an eyebrow at her, hiding his sly smile, "I didn't hear you, did you say ugly?"

"You look hot!" She blurted out, making him burst out into laughter while she covered her face with her slim hands, too embarrassed to face him. Namjoon was having a lot of fun and didn't want the night to end at all. He placed the grilled meat on her plates as she thanked him with a cute smile.

'How can someone be this pretty?'

"Tan!" Taehyung yelled, standing in the living room with his hands on his hips as he looked around. He had come back home from work late and was now looking for his brother, who was not there to welcome him when he came earlier.

He huffed as the younger was not in his room, game room or even the movie room, the three places where he actually spends most of his time. Taehyung bit his lips gently, Tan wasn't even answering his calls which worried him. He was wondering if he should reach out to Jimin but maybe it was too soon and he should properly look for him first.

His gaze fell on the hallway behind the staircase that was situated at the left side of the living room, he walked towards the hallway which led to the office, library and at the end, -the swimming pool in the backyard.

And there he was!

Sitting on the patio by the pool, his eyes fixed on the dark sky with a few little stars glistening above him. Taehyung approached him but Tan was deep in thought to even acknowledge the presence beside him. He cleared his throat to bring the boy back to the world but in vain, which left him with his favorite method-slapping the back of his head.

"Ow!" Tan winced, rubbing his head as he looked to his side only to find his brother glaring down at him.

"Ow." Taehyung mimicked him and sat down beside him as he asked, "Since when are you here? I have been looking for you."

Tan pouted, "Why were you looking for me?"

He rolled his eyes, "Everytime I come back home all tired, you bless me with your ugly face but today you didn't." He snickered looking at the way Tan was glaring at him.

"Hyung. Before you call me ugly, please remember that I look just like you. So...if you know you know." He winked while shrugging, a giggle leaving his mouth. Taehyung gently slapped him while calling him a bastard as he chuckled.

"Why are you here? Did you have your dinner?" He questioned, scrutinizing the younger, who nodded but ignored his first question and went back to admire the sky.

"You look troubled, is everything okay?" he asked, proceeding to hold his hand. Tan pouted deeply as he nodded, watching his brother squeeze his hand softly as he added, "C'mon, tell me what's bothering you. Maybe I can help!" Taehyung offered, sounding enthusiastic.

Tan sat quietly, contemplating whether he should tell Taehyung or not. There was actually no harm in telling him so he sighed and explained everything that happened back in the university library-him forgetting Jungkook's name and the sadness which was painted on his face. And the irony was, he forgot his name again which resulted in him miscalling him.

"Are you sure that person was a he?" Taehyung questioned, scrunching his nose at the name.

"Yes, why do you ask?"

"Jungsoon...is a masculine name? Since when?" He wondered, clearly confused at what he heard meanwhile, Tan facepalmed himself. It was embarrassing, how could he forget that guy's name so quickly?

"D-Does that matter now? I feel guilty for forgetting his name after all the interactions we have had!" Tan whined and mumbled, "I wanna make it up to him..."

Taehyung stared at him and smiled, "Are you sure he is just a friend? Or you know..." He asked, wiggling his eyebrows.

Tan narrowed his eyes at him, "Shut up, hyung. It's nothing like that!" He denied.

However the older man just yawned at him, "If you say so."

Tan rolled his eyes and sulked in his seat, "Will just a sorry work? Or should I get him something? A sorry card? Maybe chocolates?" He looked at his brother with sparkling doe eyes that made him smile softly.

"A sorry card is silly, and what if she-I mean, he doesn't like chocolates?" Taehyung raised his eyebrows and watched him sulk back with a long face, all ready to cry like a baby.

Taehyung chuckled as he ruffled his black silky hair and suggested, "You can ask him to hang out with you, go to places he likes and most importantly, promise him that you will never repeat this mistake."

Tan pondered about it and slowly his face lit up with a broad smile as he squealed and tightly hugged the older man, "Yes! Thank you, hyung! I'm sure he will hang out with me and forgive me!" He guffawed as he pulled away.

"I know, I'm smart." He smirked, swiping his hair back smugly.

"Oh, this is the first time you proved it to me." Tan giggled, teasing him. Taehyung's smug face vanished as he scowled at his little brother.

"But I love you! Thank you so much!" Tan hugged him again, making him laugh. The two mocked each other, the patio filled with their sweet laughter. Too engrossed in their own fun that they failed to notice Jimin, standing by the entrance with a lovely smile on his lips as he overheard their conversation. Seeing the siblings playing and showing love to each other in their own way made him happy.

But he wished to have that moment.

"Wait, Park Jimin let someone insult him? What? I think my ears aren't working well-"

"Shut up! I didn't let him insult me, okay? I mean, I did but he didn't even let me speak! I had to control myself because it was a university, and Tan studies there. The dean knows us and the whole university knows, our reputation will be at stake!" Jimin huffed as he poured some whiskey into his glass.

He was currently in the wine cellar room and on a call, as he ranted about his day and the incident that happened in the university with Jungkook. His phone displayed the name,

Coconut tree 🍻
01:03:45

"He is a rude kid, isn't he?" The man on the call said, chuckling.

Jimin sighed, "He is." Jungkook's menacing words kept replaying in his mind as he sipped his drink and hissed, the words hit like an arrow to his heart. He will never forget this day!

"So, what are you gonna do next?"

He suddenly remembered the unknown name mentioned by the student, he furrowed his eyebrows and said, "Babe, do me a favor."

"What is it?"

"Get me information about Park Jaemin." He muttered and then added, "He probably works in Starbucks."

The man raised his eyebrows, "Who is this guy?"

"I don't know. It is the guy Jungkook mistook me for." Jimin replied and the line went silent for a minute before he heard him again.

"Oh! I know him! I met him last week at starbucks. He was working at the counter."

Jimin squinted his eyes as he placed the glass on the table while he was comfortably resting his ass on the bar stool, "Do we have any resemblance?"

The man guffawed, "Not at all! In fact, he is cute."

"Am I not?" He blandly asked.

"Of course, you are. But he is cuter."

The answer made him roll his eyes as he muttered, "Fuck you!"

A knock on the door interrupted their conversation and he hung up the call after promising they would talk further later, a moment passed and Taehyung peeped his head in, "Yo, buddy!"

Jimin's face softened upon looking at him and he chuckled, "How did you find me?"

"Just soulmate things, I guess." He shrugged, winking at his cousin.

"Where's Tan?"

Taehyung walked up to the cabinet and got himself a glass, "He just enabled the game mode." He answered and approached Jimin and sat across from him.

Jimin smiled, "Now, he won't be out of that room for two hours." he poured Taehyung some whiskey.

Taehyung nodded, "How's your day?" He asked and continued, "How did it go with Jungkook?"

At the mention of the student's name, a heavy sigh escaped Jimin's lips, "Don't ask about it."

"Why not?" Taehyung asked with worry lacing his tone.

Jimin sighed once more, he didn't really want to discuss it again. But he knew that the only way to feel lighter was by sharing it with his two close friends. He asked the younger to call Falynn and he did, he put her on speaker.

"What is it, Kim?" She asked.

"Jimin met Jungkook today. And it went...horrible?" Jimin nodded at Taehyung, who told her.

"What? What happened?" Her panicked voice was heard.

"I apologized to him and he accepted it but when I asked about being friends, he started insulting me." Jimin said, pinching the bridge of his nose.

"What?" The two yelled in unison.

Nobody dared to insult Park Jimin, he was looked upon with respect by everyone. Falynn was fuming in anger as she stopped washing her dishes and complained about how Jungkook seemed so sweet and friendly with them, him being disrespectful was uncalled for!

Jimin was shocked to hear that the two had planned to meet the student, Taehyung assured him that they were just checking whether he was good enough for him and nothing suspicious had occurred. The oldest of them rolled his eyes, too tensed to even care about that.

"He looked like a sweet kid that could never hurt anyone! Jimin, please tell me you are joking. Maybe you mistook someone else as Jungkook." Taehyung began defending him as the sweet Jungkook had him bewitched.

"Wait! Is Jeon Jungkook two faced?" Falynn cried over the phone, if it was true then she was ready to push her fork into Jungkook's eyes.

Jimin rolled his eyes and heaved out a sigh, "Calm down, guys. Apparently, he mistook me as someone else, that's why he behaved that way."

Taehyung stared at him, "Mistook you as someone else? Who?"

"Please, that's unbelievable. How can someone mistake Park Jimin?" Falynn exaggerated, as she threw herself on her couch.

"He called me Jaemin and said that he is so powerful that he can get me unemployed from starbucks." He explained, his cousin gave him a weird look while Falynn stayed quiet for a moment.

"Why does he think you are that guy...Jaemin?" She asked.

"I don't know!" He whined and then looked at Taehyung, "Don't I dress like a rich CEO of a company?"

"Of course, you do!" He answered confidently and said, "Jungkook must be blind, I mean, in what way do you look like you work at Starbucks?" He scoffed and they agreed with him.

There was a minute of silence among themselves as the two cousins sipped their whiskey and Falynn just stared at the view of the city as her balcony door was open.

Jimin chugged down the last shot and wiped his mouth with the sleeve of his shirt, "I tell you, Jungkook doesn't believe in social equality. He seems like he has no respect towards low class people!" He grumbled, with rage in his voice while Taehyung frowned and sighed.

Falynn rolled her eyes, "I told you how he was, didn't I? He isn't like us, he loves everything expensive! And doesn't like socializing with people lower than him in class." Referring to that day in the office when they first got the file regarding Jungkook's background information.

"This is wrong. Jimin, I'm glad he showed his true self, now you have a reason not to be friends with him." Taehyung uttered with a scowl on his face as he poured some more whiskey into his glass. He needed it after hearing about his cousin's day.

"Yeah, he is right. Jim, I better not hear his name from your mouth ever again!" Falynn joined and mumbled to herself, "I can't believe I shipped that kid with Jimin."

"But he mistook me-"

"So?" Taehyung cut him off, "Whatever it is, degrading someone isn't fun. As an adult, he should know it."

Jimin sighed, "It's just a misunderstanding, he didn't wanna be rude to me, he thought I was Jae-"

"Stop defending him, Jimin!" Falynn yelled through the phone, clearly done with her boss.

"Alright, let's end this here. No more Jeon Jungkook topics from now on." Taehyung declared as he stood up from his seat.

"And do you think I will listen to you?"

Taehyung looked at him in disbelief, "Jimin-"

"Taehyung. And you too, Falynn. No more words against Jungkook." Taehyung rolled his eyes with a sigh while she frowned, not believing her boss.

He continued, "And about what he did, I know how to clear it up. Good night."

Falynn hung up the call without saying anything, she was angry at Jungkook for what he did and she was a bit upset that Jimin still defended him. Taehyung stormed towards the stairs that led him out of the cellar and into the kitchen, he had no idea what had gotten into Jimin. The man wanted to be just friends with him, but his words right now didn't seem like it.

Jimin sighed. He knew they would be fine tomorrow, right now he had to think of a new plan to approach Jungkook and teach him a lesson.

"And here's the soft tofu stew!" Mrs. Cha announced as she placed the two bowls on the dinner table for Mr. Jeon and Jungkook. The two thanked her as she left the room so that she could have her dinner with her husband in the kitchen.

"Mhm, it smells delicious!" Jungkook licked his lips as he clapped his hands, Mr. Jeon chuckled at his adorableness.

"C'mon, let's have it before it turns cold." He said, grabbing his chopsticks.

The guy stopped his father, "It's mom's birthday! And her favorite dish! We can't start eating without wishing for her."

Mr. Jeon smiled dearly at him, "Right, sorry."

The two folded their hands as they wished the lady a happy birthday and many more lovely things for her, opening their eyes and then smiled at each other.

"Happy birthday, mom! I love you!" Jungkook exclaimed as he grabbed his chopsticks and began eating, Mr. Jeon followed him.

Mrs. Jeon had passed away when he was just ten years old, he didn't have any memories with her. Or maybe he had but didn't remember them as he was still a kid. But his father often told him how much she loved Jungkook and took care of him. Albeit of everything, he still loved her so much. Every year, even when his dad mostly didn't remember her birthday, they would still cook her favorite dinner and celebrate it.

Jungkook stared at his father, he looked happy or maybe he was pretending again as he could see the sadness in his eyes. He missed his wife. A small sad smile stretched on Jungkook's lips and he silently sighed.

'I wonder how our life would have been if mom was alive.'
